Travelling Kitchen workshops aim to promote an awareness of the wider cultural, social and historical significance of the food we eat. We believe that cooking is for everyone and an essential life skill. Food is something we all have in common and everyone should be able to access good food. Screen printing is a traditional print process that uses stencils to build up an image. The stencil is attached to a screen - a finely woven mesh attached to a frame. The image is printed by drawing a squeegee at pressure across the screen, pushing ink through the mesh onto paper in those areas not covered by the stencil. There are different ways of making stencils for screen print; the most basic are papercuts, but a more sophisticated technique uses a photostencil: the screen is coated with a light sensitive emulsion and the artwork is exposed onto it. This process allows greater detail than paper stencils, and enables photographic images and text to be used. For each colour to be printed, a separate piece of artwork needs to be created. About the studio and equipment My studio is part of Centrespace Co-operative, a block of 31 workshops and studios that also manage the adjoining Centrespace Gallery. Centrespace, formerly known as Bristol Craft Centre, took over the building, a former print works in 1977. My own studio is a light and airy space of two rooms with an additional wet room for washing out screens. One room houses the print equipment and one is for design and drawing work. The print room uses a self built exposure unit, and includes three printing stations (one tabletop setup and two vacuum beds), and marble racks for drying prints. The drawing room includes desk space for three people and a large lightbox. About the tutor Simon studied painting at Portsmouth Polytechnic and printmaking at Chelsea College of Art, where he received the British Instuition Fund for Printmaking Award. He worked in London for over a decade as a scenic painter and muralist before moving to Bristol in 2002. He holds a PGCE in Post-compulsory Education and has been teaching screen printing to all ages and abilities for over a decade. He exhibits his work regularly. Welcome to our re-launched Worskhop! We are very excited to be going forward from many years of creative crafts being enjoyed here. We will continue to run courses in Stained Glass, Silverwork, and Silver & Enamelling, however the studio now runs as a series of independent businesses, with separate tutors. Our courses are suitable for beginners to the more practiced hands, as our Tutors are both experienced and supportive. We run a variety of courses, long and short, and are very competitively priced. As we start our new chapter, we will be introducing new classes in the coming months. We will continue to be a happy, creative and vibrant place, and welcome our many current students as well as new ones. My hope is that the Bristol & Bath Craft Workshops will be a welcoming, nurturing, and inspiring environment, where people from all backgrounds, ages and abilities can benefit from being creative.

Hello! I am Samantha Dholakia, the founder of SPD Tuition and Coaching and creator of The Behaviour Balance System© (TBBS) and The Behaviour Bank© (TBB). I am an Executive Coach and mentor, Neurolinguistic Programmer and Consultant Trainer. CaPPP is a networking organisation for counsellors and psychotherapists in private practice in the south west of England. Being a member of CaPPP enables practitioners to meet others, to share thoughts about their work and to feel connected with people doing similar work. Private practice can sometimes be a lonely occupation. CaPPP members are able to network via CaPPPchat an email service which enables you to communicate with over 500 CaPPP members, to ask for or share professional information. We organise occasional Community Meet-up meetings and online Open Space meetings to explore shared professional concerns and interests. We offer a programme of continuing professional development workshops which aim to provide stimulating approaches and ideas that can be applied to practice. We also hold an annual gathering which explores a topical theme and is free for members. As CaPPP is a not-for-profit organisation* the aim is to keep all events at the lowest possible cost.
