Alice Goldsack is a graduate of Queens Road Art College and trained at Diana Porters studio for more than eighteen years. I set up Leather Needle Thread in 2016 teaching handbag making workshops in Bristol, UK. Having guided over 300 people to make their own DIY leather bags (and the odd espadrille and leather sneaker!) from scratch I learnt what they found challenging, what they enjoyed and how they developed a sense of pride in their abilities. I have been a leatherworker for over 10 years and studied bag design and construction at the London College of Fashion before going on to work in the industry as a leatherworker and sample maker. The bag making kits were dreamed up because I wanted to give people a way to easily make covetable leather bags from beautiful materials, minimal tools and pared-back techniques in their own home.

I'm a choir leader, composer and singer based in Bristol, UK. Having performed as a singer-songwriter  [https://rosiesingssomesongs.bandcamp.com/]for over 20 years, I understand the power of music to connect people and evoke emotion. I pour the same passion into my work as a choir leader and, more recently, as a composer for choirs.  I run workshops in Bristol and all over the UK. I'm very excited to be running a brand new series of 2024 workshops which I've named 'Saturday Sings'. In each of these workshops, I will share the teaching with a fantastic guest composer, and we will take it in turns to sing our own SATB choir songs. The composers joining me are, in date order, Helen Chadwick, Katy Rose Bennett, Anna Tabbush, Emily Roblyn, Ben See and Helen Yeomans.  I love hearing my music come to life through the voices of others. As a member of the Natural Voice Network [https://www.naturalvoice.net/our-members/member-profile/?profile=427], I welcome every voice to my choirs and workshops. I teach by ear, and there is no need for prior experience or to read music. As a composer I love to create accessible, harmonically satisfying and inspiring songs that bring people together and lift their spirits. I look forward to singing with you in 2024!

We teach the fundamentals of coding, teaching pupils real world programming skills with practical, hands-on sessions! We have workshops for all age groups and experience levels.

I am a freelance designer-maker, applied artist, crafts-woman, whatever you want to call me – I stitch stuff by hand; fabric, metal, porcelain, leather, vitreous enamel.. . My work is various, it depends whether I am working for myself, to commission or collaborating with other artists. But whatever I do is slow to make; detailed hand stitching in any material whether in silk, linen, wool or wire takes time, consequently my work is also slow to evolve. I decided to show on this site what I do, who I am work with, how I work and also how I think. I want to show the work behind HER WORK not just the finished things. The journey from the first idea, searching, researching, drawing, sampling and eventually making the finished piece. You will be able to watch my work progress, or not; maybe by seeing this record people will come to value making that is manufactured by hand, heart and eye. In May 2010 I developed – Heart Space Studios ( from my yoga practice “Put your Hands in your Heart Space”) and for 5 years it was a space in Bristol England for all things textile. The activities at the studios can still be viewed – I closed the studio workshops in 2015 – the classes remain on this site as part of the blog, they contain many of my most popular posts….. Heart Space Studios continues as a group of makers who develop projects primarily for publishing companies. Most notably we work with designer Kaffe Fassett in the production of his patchwork quilt books and other fabrics.

It does this by working with all the different parts of a person: the physical, mental, energetic and spiritual. Regular practice can help life get smoother and increases your awareness of yourself and your environment in many new and exciting ways. My goal is to share the benefits of Tai Chi.
