Supporting you to move upThe first day of school is a big day. It is a momentous and emotional event. We may have mixed feelings leading up to the day itself: excitement, intrigue, anxiety, worries, trepidation, stress, a sense of loss or change. Room 627 is a project created to help young people navigate the changes of moving from year 6 to year 7 with kindness, compassion and creativity. It has been funded by the #iwill fund, and it is being run by Bath Mind, The Dept of Kindness and a creative group of young people from Oldfield School. Together we have created a space where young people can explore different activities, share ideas and get creative to build confidence in the changes created by ‘moving up’. Bath Mind and The Dept. of Kindness have been collaborating since 2018. Our Cabinet of Compassion has toured schools and community settings, interacting with over 1,300 people across Bath and North East Somerset. We will be working together until 2023 with year 6 and year 7 students, artists and creative organisations to grow this project and fill the website with creative and wellbeing resources for young people.

OUR STORY Hello, we are Elane and Sarah, Co-Founders of I Am In Print. We’ve known each other since our first day of secondary school – when Sarah was forced to sit next to Elane and hasn’t been able to get rid of her since. Keen life explorers we’ve shared numerous adventures, including backpacking around Australia, driving from Las Vegas to San Francisco and getting lost in Hong Kong. Despite often living in different continents we have always managed to meet halfway and have run up many a phone bill. In 2014 we set ourselves the challenge to co-write a book and spent many hours developing plots and characters. The idea for I Am In Print bumped into us in 2018; we wanted a community to unite all writers, published and unpublished, and increase access to top agents and publishers. Broadcasts came first. Then we became the first to host online feedback sessions. We call them #Agent121 - an opportunity to meet an agent onscreen for advice on your submission package. In-person events began, then online publishing and writing days. And in 2022 we became Directors of our own I Am Writing Festival. We loved meeting members of the writing community at the festival in Winchester 2022 and in Bristol 2023. Where ever you are on your writing journey, we would love to see you at one of events soon.

Here at PQA Bristol, we are super excited about our new projects to kick off 2023! In Musical Theatre and Comedy & Drama our students will be working on skills whilst we begin rehearsals for our upcoming musical of The Little Mermaid, performed at the 1542 Performing Arts Centre! In Film & Television, we are exploring pre-production, storytelling and filmmaking practice whilst taking part in a variety of PQA challenges! Our Poppets will be exploring a range of themed sessions, they will even be making their own Poppets movie! All of our students will be developing their confidence and Performing Arts skills across the range of brilliant sessions we offer! We are thrilled that due to popular demand we are launching our Brand New Friday Academy in May - Book your place at our Free Open Day to experience the Friday Fun! Here at PQA students participate in an array of diverse and challenging modules designed to engage and excite our students- there is never a dull moment! We are passionate about building confidence and developing children's skills in the performing arts while striving to allow each individual to reach their potential!
