Data can be collected in extraordinary volume and detail regarding almost anything worth measuring, such as public health and safety, the environment, industrial and agricultural production, energy, and utilities. New data analysis tools have been optimized for the massive amounts of data that IoT produces, enabling well-informed decisions to be made quickly.</p>
<p>But putting IoT systems into place can be a complicated proposition, and fraught with hazards. Solutions may involve devices and technologies from many different vendors, requiring a good understanding of software and hardware and strategies to integrate them, as well as the risks associated with security, privacy, and the safety of those whose working and living environments are managed by these systems.</p>
<p>IT professionals often have little or no experience working with embedded systems, sensor networks, actuators, real-time systems, and other components that are common to IoT, so this course provides a foundation for understanding how these components work with other systems that IT professionals typically have more experience working with-such as networks, cloud computing, and applications running on servers, desktop computers, and mobile devices.</p>

The use of downhole motors, rotating and non-rotating steerable systems as well as the conventional rotary applications will be explained. The software simulates a conventional rotary rig, equipped with two National 12P160 mud pumps and a complete mud treatment system. All required drilling equipment such as drill bits, drill pipe, drill collars, survey systems, downhole motors are available. The student will have to analyse the planned well and decide what type of assembly to use for the section to be drilled. This can be a conventional rotary assembly, a motor and a bent sub, a steerable system and even medium radius tools. The student will have to make up a correct BHA, run it in the hole, take a survey (with MWD or with gyro or single shot), orient his assembly and start drilling.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">As in real life and when using an MWD, the student can keep track of the tool face orientation and the hole direction together with the inclination. The student can stop drilling at any time to orient or to take a survey. At regular intervals the student will take a survey, the computer calculates the data and the student has to plot the result on the well plan, which the student will receive in an A0 format. The software will keep track of the drilling cost and the drilling time. At the end of the exercise the results of the different groups will be compared.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">The training instructor relies on a highly interactive training method to enhance the learning process. This method ensures that all participants gain a complete understanding of all the topics covered. <p>This 2 half-day Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) course will guide participants on the technoeconomic aspects of capture, utilization and geological storage of carbon dioxide. The VILT course will address the methods and techniques used in the technoeconomic assessment of Carbon Capture, Utilization &amp; Storage (CCUS) projects. It will explore in detail the factors that affect the cost-effectiveness of current and emerging technologies for CO<sub>2</sub> capture, transport and geological storage, including monitoring and verification. Given that the successful deployment of CCUS may require economic incentives, technical and economic drivers such as technological innovation, optimization, source sink matching and emerging opportunities will also be discussed.</p>

<p>Your expert course leader received his B.Eng. in Chemical and Environmental Systems in 2002 from TecnolÃ³gico de Monterrey, Mexico, and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2008 from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), in Sydney, Australia, at the UNESCO Centre for Membrane Science and Technology. His doctoral used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to analyse the flows within membrane modules used for water treatment and desalination. He also worked on a desalination linkage project between the UNSW and the European Union, as part of Framework Programme 6.</p>
<p>From 2009 to 2014, he worked for the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC), where he led the research into CO2 Transport Networks, co-led the development of a techno-economic model for the analysis of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects, and collaborated on several consultancy and feasibility studies conducted by CO2CRC for both Government and Industry. From 2014 to 2019, he held a CONACYT Research Fellowship at the Instituto TecnolÃ³gico de Sonora (ITSON) in Mexico, where he led collaborative research projects dealing with RO membrane biofouling (IHE-Delft), membrane modifications, solar energy use for desalination (CSIR-CSMCRI India) and CFD modelling of the hydrodynamics in membrane modules (UMP Malaysia).</p>
<p>Since July 2019, he is a Research Fellow in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Sydney, where his research focuses on finding ways to reduce the cost, energy use and environmental impact of technologies for providing clean energy and water. From 2015 to 2020, he was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Mexican Society of Membrane Science and Technology. He guest edited a special edition on CCS for the Journal 'Technologies' and is currently an Editorial Board member for the journal, 'Energies', a peer-reviewed open-access scientific journal. His research interests include improving the efficiency of osmotic membrane separation processes, modelling complex processes involving heat and mass transfer, and exploring the economic drivers of low emission technologies such as the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) chain.</p>

Duty of Care.
M3 - Anatomy & Physiology:
Sites appropriate to IV cannulation. Hand vs. arm.
Advantages and disadvantages of relevant veins.
An overview of Homeostasis and Fluid Balance.
M4 - Hygiene and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC):
Reducing healthcare-associated infections. Keeping Safe.
Bloodborne Pathogens and Work Practice Controls.
Standard Precautions. Waste Disposal. Needle-stick injuries.
M5 - Indications and Advantages:
When to cannulate, infusion types and benefits over
alternative infusion routes. Continuous and intermittent infusion.
Prophylactic use before procedures and in unstable patients.
Contraindications.
M6 - Equipment:
Cannula types, sizes and colour coding. How to select
appropriate size. Equipment overview for total procedure.
M7 - Vein Choice for Cannulation:

How to manage an unsuccessful cannulation.

An Introduction to Medical Terminology short course delivered online via Teams, suitable for anyone wishing to learn the basics of terminology. Dates of courses can be seen when clicking ‘register’ below.





Level One – Introduction to Medical Terminology.

This course is aimed at anyone who requires a knowledge of medical terminology in their role. It is suitable for administrative staff, health care workers, medical secretaries, managers, Allied Health Professionals, essentially anyone who may encounter medical terminology and wishes to develop their medical terminology knowledge further. We also offer sessions to those requiring an overview of medical terminology to support applications to study medicine, veterinary medicine or dentistry.We can train between 1-30 learners from any organisation. If you have a specific training request, please speak to us and we can accommodate your needs. We recently trained a group of sign language interpreters who found the training invaluable when working in medical environments.The sessions are delivered via Teams (2x 2 hour meetings) so are highly accessible, a webcam and microphone are required although not essential.The aim of the course is for learners to develop an understanding of medical terminology in an enjoyable, interactive and informative way so that they are better able to decipher and unravel the mystery of long medical words.The course covers the following topics:-


Basics of medical terminology – word building
Common Roots, prefixes and suffixes
Anatomy and physiology via a virtual tour of the body
Major bones of the body
Prescription writing and abbreviations
Classification of drugs
Common Abbreviations
Instruments and investigations
Medical Specialities and personnel
