Our aim is to cradle you with support to empower you in your parenting journey.Meet Emily I am a registered Children’s nurse and a specialist community public health nurse. I have worked in a variety of nursing settings since qualifying in 2010. I now have 3 children aged 4 years and under! Whilst sat feeling lonely and bored at a baby group in what appeared to be some old town hall I started to question things. This wasn’t me and there must be something better. I consider myself to be very friendly, approachable, and bubbly. I really enjoy socialising with my friends and now due to one thing or another my best friends are placed across the country! We meet every month or so and support each other. We share stories, including the wins and fails of motherhood. Or sometimes it’s nice to not always talk about being a mum! Being a nurse and having my professional knowledge and experience friends would sometimes reach out to me for advice. The Cradle Club was developed with all this in mind and offers as little or as much as you want from it. From just wanting a coffee somewhere nice with other mums, to bespoke professional support and guidance. While Emily is both a Registered Children’s Nurse and Health Visitor and as such, adheres to the NMC’s revalidation requirements, she will not be acting as a registered nurse during her work with The Cradle Club.

After employment as a draughtsperson and engineering project manager, I have worked in education since 2004. I am now Learning and Teaching Lead at the AMRC Training Centre, run by the University of Sheffield, which delivers Engineering Apprenticeships from Advanced to Degree Level. I joined WEST because I believe passionately that we need to actively change women’s perception of STEM careers – and men’s perception of women in engineering! My name is Jo Souter and I am an experienced specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor. I am passionate about helping children to unlock their potential! Specialist teacher and assessor Oxfordshire As a teacher and as a mum of 2, I understand that every child is different and that a 'one size fits all' approach doesn't work. As a result my teaching is personalised to each student and draws on their strengths. My philosophy is that if your child doesn't understand something, then it is up to me to teach it differently. Up until having my children, I was a full time class teacher in a primary school. Therefore I understand the demands of teaching a class of 30 children each with differing strengths and difficulties! My skill is in creating a positive learning environment in which your child can thrive. After missing school due to Covid my daughter had sessions with Jo to increase her confidence. It was really inspiring to see her learning and enjoying a more creative & fun way of learning. - Parent of a Year 1 student Over the past 9 years I have worked as a specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor both in schools and privately. Azadi Trust was founded in 1991 by Dr. Robin Fisher, a GP working in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, as a Christian outreach to the large number of drug users in the area. From these early beginnings Azadi has followed the vision that ‘Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Freedom’ (2 Cor 3:17) which remains our ‘strapline’ to this day, some thirty years on. The surgery and the drugs work had closed by the mid-1990’s, but the Charity remained and in 1997, with the support of the local Anglican church, Christ Church, purchased the old surgery building. This building is now known as Azadi House. In the early days, the ground floor of Azadi House was the base for activities such as a youth club and a homework club, mainly run by Christ Church members but designed to be accessible to the local community; subsequently the Trust supported projects, such as ‘Bright Sparks’ mother and toddler group and ‘Azadi Tigers’ football team, which operated away from its base. On the basis of these early experiences we don’t seek to ‘set up projects’ but rather to ‘follow what God is doing’ and actively support Christians in the inner-city who want to set up or who are already actively running projects, people who have a vision (and warmth and enthusiasm) to reach others with the love of God but do not want the distraction of establishing a structure to accommodate their vision and who would rather just ‘get on with the job’. Hope Garden Project, who have been part of Azadi for over 10 years, are an example of this.
