At The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, our goal is to champion mental health and wellbeing, driving real change and providing crucial mental health support services to the community, wherever they are needed. Established in 1973 in Sandwell, we have almost five decades of experience in providing mental health support to thousands of people across the UK. Our dedicated staff are constantly striving to support those who need our help with a range of mental health services. In 2013, as part of a drive to increase the reach and diversity of our support services, we rebranded as The Kaleidoscope Plus Group. We are constantly striving to provide a holistic approach to mental health services, ensuring support reaches those who need it most, no matter who or where they are. CEO Monica Shafaq has been in post since 2010. Within this role Monica advocates the importance of speaking up to help tackle the stigma that surrounds mental health and works with the wider KPG Team to ensure our services are accessible and inclusive of everyone who needs them. Our award-winning staff, directors, and volunteers are passionate about what they do. We are dedicated to ensuring no one falls through the gaps, supporting national mental health services with diverse, inclusive and high-quality support. We are #TeamKPG, and our aim is to create a brighter future for everyone, together. 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England.

the mental wealth project

Mental WealthThe Mental Wealth Project is a mental health literacy education programme for young people. The aim is to equip young people and their families with knowledge, tools and skills to reduce stigma, improve wellbeing, spot warning signs of mental distress, and enhance access to the right care and support when they need it. Le Va delivers tailored face-to-face workshops in secondary schools, sports-clubs, churches and other community settings. This Mental Wealth website was designed to complement these workshops. Because the online world is a significant community for young people, The Mental Wealth Project also includes social media and gaming as important things that can impact on mental health and wellbeing. The team at Le Va co-designed and tested the programme over 2 years (2017-2018) with young people, Pasifika and Māori rangatahi, parents, teachers, secondary schools, rugby league clubs, sports coaches, clinicians, mental health organisations, gamers, suicide prevention specialists and cultural knowledge holders. Holistic Wellbeing & Counselling Centre, BirminghamThe Meridian Centre, based in Billesley in Birmingham has been established for over 10 years as a holistic centre offering a variety of effective therapies. We are now a Community Interest Company (CIC) working to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in the community within the West Midlands and beyond. We have a range of highly experienced specialist therapists based at the centre and we also support trainees and newly qualified therapists to develop and deliver high quality counselling and psychotherapy. Like many businesses, at The Meridian Centre, we have responded to people’s needs by now offering many appointments by telephone, online by Zoom as well as counselling in person at the centre in Birmingham. Both online training and in person training is delivered by our therapists to support counsellors and psychotherapists CPD. Living Well Consortium is the West Midlands’ leading mental health consortium, which consists of over 30 Third Sector mental health organisations. These consortium members each use their experience and networks to work in a cross-collaborative way, to ensure that those who are looking for ways to access mental health and wellbeing support can do so in an efficient way. These Third Sector members work to relieve the pressure felt by the medical services, by delivering community-based and community-oriented services that focus on prevention, wellness, recovery, and resilience, in turn building a more sustainable and long-lasting solution. These Consortium Members are the service providers for Living Well Consortium. To deliver this approach using the members’ collective knowledge, resource, and capacity, Living Well UK is the public-facing charity that brings the work of the consortium members to the people of the West Midlands. This charity arm provides free mental health support to people living in Birmingham and Solihull, promoting wellbeing from an individual and community perspective to help find practical solutions to life’s challenges. These include online stress and anxiety courses, counselling and self-help, creative therapies, and CBT, drawing on the knowledge of a consortium of expert members across the city.
