The Forest of Avon is not a single 'forest' but the combination of the many trees and woodlands across the West of England, formerly Avon - the four counties of Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. So far, well over a million trees have been planted in the Forest of Avon and many woodlands and access networks have been improved and maintained. You may see 'Forest of Avon' signs on your local walks showing where we have supported landowners to improve or plant new woodland and where they support public access for our lovely walks. As part of a network of community forests we can source funding such as through our current Trees for Climate project, Defra funded through England's Community Forests. We want to enable as many people as possible to access and enjoy the benefits of our trees and community woodlands.

My name is Cameron and I am a 27 year old keys player specialising in Rock, Blues, R&B, Funk and Soul music. I started playing the piano aged 8 and have been passionate about music ever since. I have many years’ experience providing piano lessons to people of all ages and abilities, in person, in schools and online. Companies I've previously worked for include Open2Music and Private Music Lessons UK. I can also teach students Classical and advanced music theory to a high standard. I produce many of my own documents to aid students’ learning and use methodical but fun teaching methods. Education: After working through the ABRSM Classical and Jazz grades, I began studying Music and Music Tech A levels at college. From 2014 to 2016, I was tutored by highly regarded industry professionals such as Brian Henry (Soul II Soul, Mica Paris) and Frank Tontoh (Amy Winehouse, George Michael) at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, where I achieved a 2:1 in Professional Music Performance. Experience: I have a wealth of experience teaching the piano (and music in general) to children and adults of all ages and abilities, either at home, in a school environment, or online. Resources: I have created many useful documents over the years, catering to people of all ages and abilities. I also produced a single document called 'Essential Music Theory' featuring lots of information about scales, chords, progressions, melodic features, improvisation and ear training. Teaching online: Online tuition is useful as it is convenient for both the student and the teacher, especially when they are many miles away from each other. I have taught many students via Zoom and find it to be a useful and enjoyable experience. I have access to a reliable, fast internet connection and know how to deal with any issues that may arise. I can play the piano in software like Logic Pro X and this can be heard very clearly by the student on the other end (any audio I play my end can be heard). Students can also see what notes/chords I'm playing via screen-sharing and an app called 'ChordieApp'.

The spirit of the Centre’s aims has remained unchanged for over 100 years: Swarthmore seeks to inspire lives through friendly learning within a commitment to equality of opportunity Swarthmore is a centre for lifelong learning, community projects and family learning sessions as well as the courses and activities. Our main aim is to encourage people who want to learn but might not feel comfortable in more formal educational institutions. We work on a friendly, human scale. Many volunteers currently support the Centre’s work, and we welcome their contributions of time and energy. The Centre was founded by members of the Quaker movement in 1909 with the aim of including and involving people in learning activities and making sure that people were treated with equality and respect. Two members of the Society of Friends remain on our democratically elected ‘Council’ of Trustees, made up of Centre members and representatives of community organisations with shared aims. Swarthmore is a not-for-profit registered charity, and a company limited by guarantee. Our Grade II Listed Building has a fascinating history and is made up of six four-story terraced houses with additional dance and art studios to the rear. We have specialist facilities for pottery, jewellery, stained glass and sculpture, and the atmosphere is intentionally homely and informal. We also work within the local community on negotiated projects, including arts and ‘Skills for Life’ programmes. Many groups and individuals make use of the Centre as a community resource, providing facilities for a wide variety of local groups. Swarthmore attracts a social mix of people who come to the Centre because of their shared interests in learning rather than their background. Since then, Carrie has built a strong team of like-minded singing teachers and specialists around her to successfully provide the wide-array of Pro Vox singing students with the best training and opportunities possible. Pro Vox is known for students high levels of attainment in LCM Exams sessions, fantastic annual student performance showcases, recording and audition opportunities and more. Carrie has an incredible depth of knowledge from her on-going academic studies in voice science (working towards a Doctorate) and an impressive drive to educate both her teaching staff and students with up to date vocal training practices appropriate to each of them. QUICK HISTORY TO BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU Originally coming from Gracie family, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu started gaining mainstream popularity after first UFC tournament in 1993. Won by Royce Gracie - 3 fights all won by submission. 30 years later it is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide and the sport is now practised and taught as part of the school curriculum across Abu Dhabi along with police forces adopting it for its versality and control. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) enables a smaller player to utilise leverage in order to subdue and submit a stronger opponent. This was the founding element unique to BJJ when it was first envisaged by Helio Gracie whom many consider to be creator of what modern Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is today. All levels are welcome here at our gym in Edinburgh, you will be training with mixture of fellow beginners and more advanced players with the primary goal being to build a foundational understanding of the positional elements that are vital to BJJ. The variety of techniques covered include a full range of self defence and martial arts movements focused efficiently and safely controlling an individual. Your fitness and overall strength will be vastly improved regardless of any prior training due to the unique and fun positions taught. In addition to this you will learn how to submit your opponent with limb/arm locks and choke-hold techniques. The most important lesson you will learn from the start will be how to safely takedown/control an opponent from standing all the way to the ground, this includes learning how to "breakfall" - a set of techniques that allow a person to transition from standing to the ground without fear of injury.
