Our History Flux Studios was established by Vicky Forrester in 2008 with the desire to support all elements of the jewellery industry. The intention was to create a home to both aspiring professionals and the interested public, where each could thrive. Since these early beginnings, Flux Studios has evolved into a busy, creative jewellery hub. We have become a global destination where people come to share ideas and jewellery skills with open enthusiasm. About Vicky Forrester Vicky Forrester is a designer – maker of contemporary bespoke jewellery. Inspired by organic structures, Vicky combines the inherent qualities of her materials with innovative techniques, to produce wearable, precious forms that delight the senses. She makes her jewellery here at Flux Studios, London. Vicky set up Flux Jewellery School to share the skills and knowledge she has gained though her own 30-year career as a jeweller and teacher. In 2010 Vicky was commissioned to write ‘Elemental Jewellery’, an inspirational look at jewellery making. The book includes twenty projects that aim to introduce new approaches to making jewellery, while also exploring ways to develop a free spirited design methodology.

I have practised yoga for over two decades and was totally hooked after my very first class. It was a complete revelation! I walked out of that class like I had woken up and seen things clearly for the first time. My whole body felt free, I was relaxed and could not get over how great I felt. I remember going to work the next day and telling a colleague that I felt "big" (in a good way). This feeling was my energy being released to flourish from whatever trapped state it had been in. My passion for yoga grew as did my personal well-being, and in 2005 when I was given an opportunity to teach, I jumped at the chance. I completed my yoga teacher training with The Devon School of Yoga and then went on to qualify as a Yoga Therapist, certified by Real Yoga, in 2012. I am registered with the Complimentary and Natural Health Care Council (CNHC). I am also a Meditation Teacher, having completed my training with Swami Saradananda. I have attended many short courses and workshops with Yoga Campus, London. These courses have been based around many aspects of yoga, the musculoskeletal system and the "correction" of bodily imbalances, which may be prominent due to general wear and tear or injury. I have also completed courses on restorative and relaxation practices, Pranayama and the history of yoga as well as a short Sanskrit course! I teach several general classes online via Zoom and offer in person or online one or two to one sessions at Sharon Gisbourne Yoga. I also run a specialist online chair based class for those who may need a more adapted approach to yoga. Working therapeutically with people one to one online may not be suitable for all conditions, but if you would like further details see the Yoga Therapy page for more details. I have experience of many styles of yoga and have spent time in India to gain knowledge of these various approaches. I like to apply myself with a holistic and eclectic approach that takes in not only the physical but also the more subtle aspects that yoga has to offer. However, although I always present myself as professionally as possible, I do like to keep everything light hearted and have fun at the same time. I have completed my training with Sheila Whittaker and I am now offering sound therapy in the form of gong baths. These are offered as private sessions and I also run group sessions. See the treatments page for further details of how to book.

All our tutors, for revision sessions and weekly group tutoring, are teachers with relevant experience, current curriculum knowledge and skills to be able to ensure revision sessions are specific to the exact exam board and assessment objectives. All tutors are inspiring and can engage and motivate students to succeed and be confident learners. I am a history teacher of 25 years, with over 15 years of examiner experience covering all exam boards. I currently examine for WJEC (Educas),Edexcel and AQA GCSE and AQA and Edexcel A Level. I lead courses all over the country that cover exam technique, revision strategies and history specific knowledge. I also work with schools to improve departments and increase student outcomes. I have been a subject leader and Head of Faculty for many years and understand what is required to enable students to make the greatest progress. With that in mind I have Jayne_mackay a team of experienced teachers, that I have worked with over the years, to lead the revision sessions. All teach the range of student ability and will ensure that the sessions are pitched at the right level for your child to enable them to develop and make progress from their starting points. Intensive revision sessions can motivate your children to approach their revision more independently and give them the tools to achieve their very best. The smaller class sizes means more individual attention, which is beneficial in improving results. The work of Cheshire Exam Success will supplement what is done in school and will provide consolidation and enrichment. I have a year 13 child of my own and am aware of the pressure and increasing demands on students to achieve, by using Cheshire Exam Success you can be assured your child will gain that extra support that will allow them to gain their best possible result. Torquay

The school has a very proud history and can trace its roots back to 1904 and the establishment of the Pupil Teacher Centre in Abbey Road. Even in those days overcrowding was a problem and Torquay Secondary School, as it had become, was opened in Barton Road in April 1915 with 170 boys. We remained at Barton Road until 1983 when we moved to our purpose built site here at Shiphay. At that time we had 750 boys in four Houses; now we have 1120 boys and girls in six houses (girls studying the International Baccalaureate are part of our sixth form) so extensive building programmes have taken place in the last 30 years or so to keep our facilities up-to-date and to provide a suitable environment for learning of the highest quality to take place. The school now stands as one of the top 20 boys’ schools in the country and is forever moving forward in the drive to providing an education, both academic and cultural, to rival that found anywhere in the country. We became a Grant Maintained School in 1993, were given Specialist Status in 1996, Foundation Status in 1997, Leading Edge in 2000, Beacon Status, High Performing Specialist Status in 2006, became part of the South West Academic Trust in 2008, granted Academy Status in 2010 and we became a Multi-Academy Trust in 2012 when we sponsored Torquay Academy in their bid for Academy status. Along the way we have undergone three OFSTED inspections and been found to be outstanding each time. We are rightly proud of our school and hope the website gives a flavour of just why we are so successful in providing an excellent well-rounded education to our students.
