Carole Sender. Proud to have been a Contestant in BBC 2′s  Great Pottery Throwdown 2017 Carole’s interest in ceramics began more than 30 years ago. The manager of a retail shop in London, selling studio ceramics and handmade crafts, she would tour the country, visiting remote, rural studios and ordering ceramics for the store. Carole went on to study interior design and worked for a number of years in an architectural practice as a designer. FINE ART MEETS CERAMICS However, her passion for pottery and ceramics was reignited in the 1980s, when she gained a City and Guilds Ceramics qualification at Kingsway College, London and followed this with A Foundation Art Diploma and Degree level study at the University of Hertfordshire in Fine Art. SHARING OF IDEAS Clay with Carole was borne out of Carole’s love to teach and pass on her knowledge to others. She feels strongly that studying ceramic art is an ongoing, rich, and fascinating process and that the learning process is one of mutual communication and the sharing of ideas.

If you love abstract art and texture then this workshop is for you! You will learn how to mix and blend from a variety of materials from natural stone to plastic beads, stained glass to broken china. What to expect You will be shown how to prepare the base, mix your own adhesive and combine your materials using a range of techniques to create interest and texture. Who is this for? Suitable for beginners, however, those with some mosaic experience are also welcome to join. What is provided A mixture of beads, stone, mosaic tiles and slate (please note materials will vary from example shown) Black tile adhesive Stick for stirring adhesive A square or circular base approximately 15cm x 15cm Next class: Sunday, 17 November 2024 (10am til 3pm) Venue: Luton, Bedfordshire (exact location will be provided on booking)

I have combined my love of Africa and my passion for creating mosaics into a fun workshop where you will learn how to create a slim piece of art using African beads, colourful vibrant glass and slate chips. What to expect You will be shown how to prepare the base, mix your own adhesive and combine your materials using a range of techniques to create interest and texture. Who is this for? Suitable for beginners, however, those with some mosaic experience are also welcome to join.
