My work is mostly oil, acrylic & watercolour. I am particularly interested in documenting the fast disappearing old apple orchards and rich diversity of British woodlands together with the flora and fauna they support. urban botanical

Urban Botanical is a Botanical Design Service based in Dundee. Our bespoke service offers beautiful, romantic, naturally styled botanicals for your wedding or event. I established in 2016 Urban Botanical, my intention was to approach floristry from a fresh perspective, one not bound by rules or code. My background is in Fine Art having graduated with a BA Hons in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone then continuing on to gain a Master’s degree in Art History from St Andrews University. After University I worked as a freelance Arts Educator running workshops in DCA and McManus Galleries for a few years prior to working in floristry. By 2015 I was working in a local florist, my second florist job but my urge to push the forbidden boundaries and explore the ‘frowned’ upon often caused disagreement. My background in Fine Art influences my approach to floristry, often problem-solving in a different manner from the ‘old fashioned’ or ‘traditional methods’ of floristry. The floristry that excited me was different, it was modern..… arty.. I decided then I had to find my own group of like-minded artist type florists. Through ‘The Glasgow Flower School’ I came to meet Jay Archer – Multi-award-winning florist Jay is known for championing British-grown, sustainable and seasonal flowers, and is widely respected within the wedding and floral industry. Jay talked about largely being self-taught, her work was beautiful, I was in love.. I finally found the definition of ‘floristry’ that I fitted into. My confidence started to grow and I started to really believe in myself but also I realised that just like Art, Floristry is subjective and not everyone will like what I like. During my final year at Art School, we learned the basics of being a ‘self-employed’ artist, learning things like how to quote and price a particular job based on materials, design, and execution which has obviously helped me a lot, also things like Brand Identity, bookkeeping, and accounts. Brand identity or brand ethos for me is something of a journey, constantly defining the things that are important to me, for what I want Urban Botanical to look like, what it represents. Whilst Urban Botanical is my career it is also my lifestyle. Country forage walks with my children is just normal for us, as is collecting ‘pretty weeds’ and wildflowers. Throughout the spring and summer, my ethos is to mainly use locally grown flowers, greenery, and herbs some of which produce the most delicate flowers as well as scent which is an important factor in my bridal work. Scent can evoke memories which is where my love for flowers started as a little girl picking flowers in my parent’s garden, making perfume, and potions. Do I like my job? YES – I love my job, working with nature, and the seasons is something I never realised I would love so much.

We are an independent art business representing a bespoke number of artists from globally acclaimed art academies around the world.   Established in 2007, the gallery has an excellent reputation as a fine art institution. Our focus has always been on original fine art sales with collaborations and solo shows being held throughout the year. We are shortly to begin art classes leading towards a certificated qualification.  To encourage a one-to-one tutelage, the classes will remain small, i.e. only 4 students per class, duration of the class will be 4 hours. The classes will be taught by trained teachers with an academy background in art.

Lorna’s considered, process driven craftsmanship expresses her mindful, immersive placement printing style. Blessed Unrest prints are an antidote to mass production and aimed at people looking for something unique and exclusive. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, Lorna was awarded a 1st class Hons Degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Printed Textile Design. She also hold a City and Guilds Adult and Further Education teaching qualification. Lorna values the sharing of knowledge and skills with others and has delivered and facilitated art and design projects for many years in community, FE and HE. Working with others to expand her practice, find design solutions and research new processes are important factors in Blessed Unrest's creation process. Lorna has been involved in many exciting projects and continues to pursue new connections, support collaborations and undertake commissions. Opening in 2023 INK on MESH- Community Access Print Studio is to become a new exciting teaching space and home to the Blessed Unrest brand.

Anna Kosa is a London based abstract expressionist artist with a background in BA Design & MSc Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology. She is passionate about creating positive mental health enhancing original fine art paintings, interior pieces and delivers Positive Psychology Infused Abstract Art Workshops to individuals, groups and corporate clients. Designed to relax the mind, help cultivate positive emotions, mood states stimulating the creative side of the brain and help individuals to reconnect with their creativity and improve their chosen areas of self development. This effect reduces cortisol that is created by stress & elevates dopamine levels improving creative problem solving. She is inspired by Positive Psychology concepts such as Post Traumatic Growth, Broaden & Build theory informed by colour psychology. Her inspiration for colours come from the nature. The layering is informed by the complex nature of human beings. She has most recently attended O.Z.O.R.A. international music festival in Hungary, delivering her signature Positive Psychology Infused Art Workshops 'Paint with Intention' and 'Kids Painting Club'. Her work has very recently featured in British Vogue, London Life & Tatler. She is also part of The World of Interiors spring campaign in their March, April & May issue 2021. I discovered my passion for art at a very young age and have explored many types of media from graphite, ink and pastels to oils and acrylics. Having dedicated my life to a career as an artist both commercially and in fine art, I find my style is constantly changing as I explore a range of techniques and subjects. Many of my creations have been inspired by local scenes, wildlife and architecture. Personal commissions of families, pets, special places and sentimental moments have put smiles on many faces over the years and from this have come ongoing recommendations. I am a practising and exhibiting textile artist who makes work focussing on memory, identity, loss and absence, using a variety of mixed media techniques alongside adapting traditional patchwork and embroidery processes for contemporary work. I have also been teaching textiles for many years, and enjoy developing the design aspect of projects with students, as well as teaching the more practical stitching and colouring skills. I have delivered City & Guilds to Diploma (the old Part 2) level in both Embroidery and Patchwork & Quilting. 2015 saw me complete my Masters with Distinction as well as having a gallery at Festival of Quilts. Then in 2016 I was part of the very successful unFOLD exhibition at the Knitting & Stitching Shows at Alexandra Palace and Harrogate International Centre. We repeated that experience with The Button Box exhibition at Festival of Quilts 2018. In 2019 I successfully entered work into the Vlieseline Fine Arts Textile Award at FOQ and then worked with unFOLD members to produce a group piece which was accepted into the Janome Fine Art Textiles Award in 2021. The Covid pandemic and lockdown saw me presenting one of the Community Stitch challenges for TextileArtist.org online, to 18,000 members of the community. This was a very exciting opportunity which coincided with the development of my new online courses. With a few external teaching commitments left for 2022, I have decided to concentrate on courses in Eastbourne for 2023 to enable me to get more stitching done.
