For almost 3 decades I've been a professional Freelance Costumer for stage and screen. I'm a Writer for the best selling "Love Sewing" Magazine Owner and Teacher Originally trained as a Costume Designer at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Claire-Louise has worked in all aspects of Costume for Theatre, Film and TV with an impressive CV of employers that includes- ITV:The RSC:The Royal National Theatre:BBC: Regent’s Park open air Theatre and “The Audience” with Dame Helen Mirren. Her diverse professional experience made her the perfect candidate for the role of Sewing Producer for TV's ``Great British Sewing Bee`` A role she's done since 2012 when the show was first developed. In 2009 Claire-Louise began teaching sewing in Stoke Newington and through her teaching has regained a love of dressmaking for herself. wanting to learn how to create shoes entirely by hand led me to pestering the local clog maker to take me on as his Saturday girl, after a couple of years I got a place at cordwainers college, then part of central and st martins. when I finished my degree, I went straight into an apprenticeship in the west end of london. I was very lucky as apprenticeships were and still are, very few and far between. for 12 years, I worked exclusively for boot and shoe companies, including john lobb, cleverly and jason amesbury, in the west end and mayfair. a chance conversation led to a residency at the royal armories in leeds where I spent two years working with the in-house leather worker to produce 30 pairs of jack boots for the household cavalry. while I was there I began to think about producing a collection of leather goods under my own name. I was encouraged when my first show sold out completely. I have worked hard to build on that success becoming more creative with styling and inventive with detail as the collection has grown. I am currently working on a series of collaborations with an intriguing range of clients: flame oz are an international troupe of fire performers who are looking at ways of incorporating fire resistant leather into their incredible theatre shows. drawn surface have worked on set designs in film and television and are currently producing a range of leather and hand printed canvas homewares with me. I am working with milliner Good Golly Miss Molly to create a range of stunning gents headwear for various celebrities. new projects on the horizon include a range of luxurious aprons and gentlemen's grooming products, and more recently, I have been commissioned to produce body-worn amp covers for a local music project.

Littleheath Barn Studio is the perfect place to spend a creative day or two. We offer a wide range of fabric printing, dyeing and art textile workshops as well as ongoing courses and guest tutors. The studio is fully equipped for textile exploration and we provide a relaxed and supportive environment, best all of all you'll be accompanied by like minded folk. Many of our regulars refer to the studio as their "happy place". Littleheath Barn was formerly resident studio to award winning textile artist Ineke Berlyn. Ineke and her husband John converted the barn in 2008 and we are proud of the fact that it was Bromsgrove's first carbon neutral building. The studio remains a family business and ran by Ineke's daughter Liske Johnson (BA Hons Textile Design), with the support of our close family friend Claire Lundy (BA Hons Printed Textiles).

Hi, I am Geraldine Christie the owner of Thimbleberry Sewing. A small independent sewing/crafting venue since 2020 in Elderslie, Scotland. It’s a place to learn new skills, built confidence and meet new people. All classes are run from my home in a sociable and welcoming environment with a maximum of four students per class. I cater for those who are complete beginners or more advanced sewists. I have always had a passion for sewing and crafting and learned to sew from an early age. You could say its in my blood as I come from a long family tradition of sewing, passed down from my Great Grandmother. Although I could sew I wanted to learn more and trained at Cardonald College in Glasgow where I achieved an HNC in Clothing Technology. I then set up my own Dressmaking business specializing in Bridal wear. After some time I wanted to pass on my skills and teach. After completing a BA in Consumer & Management Studies (Home Economics) and a PGDE teaching Diploma I was qualified to teach. I taught in Secondary schools for 12 years so, with over 30 years sewing experience you are in safe hands.
