My name is Mike. I have been involved with agriculture and agricultural engineering all my life. Farming both arable and livestock. City and Guilds / NPTC assessor since 1989 Freelance instructor for LANTRA since 1990 End Point Assessor since 2019 for Landex / LANTRA (LBAL) Leading apprenticeship programmes for both agriculture and agricultural engineering apprentices as tutor and assessor since 2009. Recently being harvesting technical trainer for AGCO based at Stoneleigh Originally completed a 4 year apprenticeship in agricultural engineering, I moved to become demonstrator and technical support for several years before becoming self-employed carrying out many hundreds of fork lift truck and pesticides either training and / or assessments. I have always made sure that I can actually competently 'do' the task that I am asking the candidate to do. This way I am not only credible but can demonstrate and show people rather than just tell them. I will always attempt to tailor a course to suit individual needs if I can.

One of the UK’s first community owned farms Ffarm Moelyci has, since 2003, pioneered the idea that community ownership can play a part in how farming both grows good food and nurtures strong communities. With 390 acres of superb wildlife the farm includes a wide range of habitats including: The 220 acres of SSSI heath-land mountaintop; Gwynedd’s finest grasslands for finding fungi. This rich environment is the backdrop to the new era at Ffarm Moelyci. In 2018, after a long period of uncertainty, the farm was sold on the open market to a consortium Ymlaen Moelyci. Ymlaen Moelyci is a consortium of 10+ individual landowners who work collaboratively to make Ffarm Moelyci a success. Each member is able to drive their business to success on their own land, whilst all coming together to pool ideas, inspiration and knowledge. Whilst now being privately owned, the farm can continue to provide benefits its community has come to love and much much more…

We hold regular meetings with a range of speakers; giving members the opportunity to exchange views, network and obtain information on topical issues. We send regular correspondence to ensure that members are kept up to date with events, local or national government policy & regulatory changes that impact on the Independent Sector. Membership of GCPA is considered a sign of a progressive organisation, committed to delivering the highest standards of care and keen to play an active part in the county’s wider social care community. Representatives of the Gloucestershire Care Providers Association attend regular strategic and liaison meetings with Social Care Officers, to discuss and review contracts, procedures and other issues. We also work very closely with the NHS, including the Clinical Commissioning Group and Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust throughout the county, working together on a variety of initiatives aimed both at tackling immediate issues facing vulnerable people and designing better ways of working for the future. In addition we have strong links with CQC (Care Quality Commission) and regularly liaise with Senior County Councillors, local MPs, local authority Commissioners and other decision makers, influencers and interested organisations. The GCPA adheres to a Consititution which all members of The Association sign up to at point of Membership Application. The Consititution can be found here.

We are a small family firm started by Albert Nightingale in the 1970’s when NFS quickly became well known across the Cambridgeshire Fen, Peterborough and surrounding area. Albert had over 20 years experience when he started the firm and continued until the mid 2000’s when he decided to retire. His son Patrick Nightingale, himself a trained agricultural engineer & experienced welder, took over the reins and the company is continuing to build on the original legacy, with its reputation for quality, reliability and delivery of all work undertaken Albert remains an active member of the Peterborough Farm Machinery Preservation Society having been one of the founder members. Patrick has continued with the tradition and he is himself too, an active member of the Society. Albert has accumulated a vast wealth of knowledge & experience by both working on other peoples agricultural equipment as well as his own (pictured right exhibiting his own 1930’s John Deere B Series, at the East of England Show) Whereas Patrick completed his apprenticeship with Baker Perkins, going onto work for a renowned Cambridgeshire firm of Agricultural Engineers before joining Railway industry to add to his skills base as an experienced Welder. He has always had a special affinity with metal and welding, coupled with a perfectionist nature has resulted in a truly remarkable workman who prides himself in his work to the very high standards he sets himself Nightingale Farm Services is a small family firm who pride themselves on working together, doing the best they can to support the delivery of a quality restoration for you the customer. The mission of the Countryside Learning is a simple one. It is to educate, inform and inspire children, parents and teachers, so that they can enjoy and appreciate the countryside while having a greater understanding of the wide range of issues surrounding it. We are a national registered charity (327091) formed in 1986. Countryside Learning is focused on providing a variety of educational opportunities designed to connect children with the countryside in a fun and practical way. We hope to nuture a lifelong interest in loving, respecting and learning about the environment. Research shows that learning in the outdoors can bring massive benefits to a child’s confidence, understanding and engagement, together with benefits to their mental and physical wellbeing. We collaborate with several organisations, that seek to promote outdoor learning. Our Countryside Live events provide an opportunity for organisations to come together to engage children with food, farming and natural environment activities. We are member of the Countryside Classroom consortium and are able to exchange knowledge and expertise with other members. The CC website is a great source for resources for our teachers to use back at school. We reach up to 20,000 children per year with our programme of events and the members of our Farms for Schools programme reach a further 300,000 children. . Our events range from visits for a single class right up to an event that caters for up to 4,000 inner city children, when we bring the countryside to them.
