It gives me great pleasure to write this introductory letter to you in my role as Headteacher. Tilston Primary School is undoubtedly a welcoming and nurturing school with amazing children and dedicated staff. Having lived in the village for many years, I know that this is a school with an extraordinary community, who wish the upmost success for their children and who have a caring and supportive ethos at their core. I feel very proud and excited to be Headteacher at Tilston Primary School. I am passionate about working in partnership with the children, staff, governors, St Mary’s Church and yourselves as the parent community, to continue to develop Tilston as an exciting, happy and successful school. Having taught in all year groups within my many years of teaching, I fully appreciate how important each year of a child’s education is towards preparing them for life. I am passionate about teaching and have high expectations of all abilities of children and I strive to ensure that our school supports children to do their best at all times and achieve. I left primary school with the fondest memories and a love of learning. My primary school provided opportunities for me to discover and unlock my hidden talents in a caring and nurturing environment. Every child has the ability to do amazing things when the school provides the right opportunities. Our core principle is to 'bring out the best in everyone.' Our Pre-School was opened in September 2013 and extended in 2017 to accommodate 30 hours funding. The building was purpose built and designed to ensure that we provide a happy and nurturing environment where children can learn through play whilst having lots of fun. We treat each child as an individual who has needs that should be met in an atmosphere that celebrates diversity. We will nurture your child’s social and emotional needs. We want children, parents and staff to learn together and for all to develop to their maximum potential. Our aim is to provide the first steps of learning for our youngest children. We want to work in partnership with families to provide high quality education which is fun, creative and motivating. Our website is designed to share as much as we can with you. If you wish to have a look round or require any further information please don’t hesitate to contact us via The Hall School Office. We receive Nursery Education Funding (FEEE) for 3 and 4 year olds. This means that the term after a child is 3 he/she will be entitled to between 15-30 hours free sessions per week for 38 weeks per year. The Pre-School is closed during the school holidays. Our Pre-School is registered and inspected by Ofsted. We are registered to take 60 children at each session and we offer lunch time cover too. We are more than happy to discuss eligibility. ABOUT US Multiflex School Sports was originally started in 1989 by athletics coaches Tom Davies and Ron Newton. The original company name was T & R Sports Development. T & R Sports Development were given financial backing by ICI and later Astra Zeneca to deliver a sporting programme to Primary schools and High Schools to enthuse young children about sport. This programme used high achievers in sport such as Great Britain international athletes and professional Basketball players to deliver a programme that not only developed fitness and skill levels of young children but increased their enjoyment of sport and gave them a route into sports clubs outside of the school environment. Following the success of this programme Multiflex Sports was formed and went on to continue this sporting programme with local authorities and also Sports-hall athletics and Eveque sport and leisure. In 2005 the government introduced P.P.A. (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) to all UK Primary Schools. This meant that all teachers would then be allocated 2 hours a week away from their class timetable to make use of their PPA time effectively. Coincidently 2 hours a week is also the amount of time each child should receive P.E. lessons for so Multiflex altered their business model to provide PPA cover for schools in and around Cheshire. Mark Webb who is the Managing director of Multiflex realised there was an opportunity to provide high quality P.E. lessons in line with the National curriculum guidance on a weekly basis, whilst also providing support for schools and teachers through PPA cover. Multiflex developed a P.E. scheme for Primary schools that covered 6 areas of sport in line with the curriculum. About Annalise Jones, Founder of Nurturing Minds I created Nurturing Minds from a passionate belief that all children should be provided with the tools to look after their own Mental Health in a positive and healthy way from as young as possible. I believe that this is the key to preventing the World's Mental Health crisis from becoming anymore severe. The harsh reality of today's society shows that 1 in 6 children and young people aged between 5-16 have a diagnosable Mental Health problem, whilst 70% of these children and young people are not getting the appropriate interventions that they need at an early age (ONS, 2020). The truth is that there isn't enough services to teach our children what they need to know about their Minds and how to look after them. So I made it my mission to do just that! Nurturing Minds uses Creative Mindfulness techniques to teach children, and their parents, about their emotions, feelings and behaviours and how these all link together to form our mind. The aim of this is to create a toolbox of resources that children and parents can access at any time in their lives. These experiences of Mindfulness will help support healthy brain development and will give children and their parents a chance to actively support their emotional regulation, which will in turn, promote positive Mental Health and Well-being. Using my knowledge of child development from my degree in Early Childhood Studies, as well as my experience working with children and families of all ages, I have developed an inclusive and welcoming environment for people to learn about their minds and to help them feel the benefits of Mindfulness on their own lives, just like I have felt it on mine.
