The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) was established as the National Association of Theatre Nurses, NATN, in 1964. As a membership organisation and registered charity AfPP works to enhance skills and knowledge within operating departments, associated areas and sterile services departments. AfPP aims to enhance the quality of care and patient safety in the NHS and the independent sector throughout the UK. In April 2005 NATN changed its name, structures and systems in recognition of the significant changes that were happening in the healthcare sector and the wider perioperative environment and to accommodate the growing numbers of Operating Department Practitioners and Healthcare Support Workers who were previously not eligible for full membership. AfPP also works to encourage the exchange of professional information between members and co-operation with other professional bodies. These include the Departments of Health in the UK, the Perioperative Care Collaborative, the Medical Royal Colleges, Chief Nursing Officers (CNOs) of all four member countries, Skills for Health and many of the British Safety Institution Committees and other groups set up to discuss specific issues related to perioperative care. Charity Objectives The objectives of the charity are: To advance health by improving patient care in perioperative practice Determine standards and promote best practice Facilitate education and practice development Provide advice to practitioners Foster and promote contacts and exchange information and ideas Act as a consultative body Institute or assist in instituting and provide support for any research Publication and production of journals, books etc and communication in any medium Procure contributions to funds by way of subscriptions, donations, grants etc Ensure financial stability, appropriate insurance etc. Integrated governance Support and management of regional activity

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? Our approach is light touch with minimal intervention in the environment and prioritising nature. We are currently developing our site facilities and creating spaces for small groups and low impact events. These include bushcraft, forest school, wellbeing sessions, forest bathing, yoga, pilates, artist retreats etc. We’re already working with schools, charities, youth and arts groups. NATURE Our ethos is very much one of balance, so for us plants and animals are as important as people. We are currently working with fantastic environmental advisors to establish what plants and animals are currently residing on our site. Our aim is to protect the habitats that already exist, create a comprehensive management plan and increase biodiversity where possible. It's all about the science! In common with most of the British Isles the land here has been managed by humans for hundreds of years - a mixture of farming, park land and old tree plantations. It’s not wild in the true sense of an untouched natural ecosystem but it’s a special place that has been left pretty much to itself for several decades. We’re just starting our long term project to create more detailed surveys of the flora and fauna, and are excited to meet and work with new people. Community Motors CIC was a social enterprise, set up in 2014 by Elaine and Justin Cooper as a Community Interest Company, to meet two specific aims: To provide excellent motor vehicle services to the local community and to provide opportunities for young and disadvantaged people to train in useful vocational skills, in particular motor vehicle mechanics. We saw and wanted to address the career challenges of young people who are not ‘academic’, are probably not suited for University, and who are currently not well served by an education system which is primarily measured by – and hence values - academic results over practical and personal development. Therefore, starting from an empty industrial unit, and joined by Mark and Kevin, our Garage and Training Managers, we built an enterprise from scratch which aimed to deliver practical and ethical excellence in all we did. We provided clear and consistent services and advice to our customers and alongside that offered young people the chance to gain real-world experience and accredited training in a professional working environment, working and learning alongside motivated, talented motor vehicle technicians, many of whom had overcome their own struggles when growing up. We worked hard to run and build the organisation as well as we could, building relationships with local schools, colleges and pupil referral units, as well as many, many members of the community around us, who came to trust us with the safety and reliability of their vehicles. We won both local and national awards for the quality of our enterprise, and many positive reviews and testimonials from happy customers and trainees.

Welcome to Moo Music York a weekly music and multi-sensory group for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. Music has been shown to be an essential part of every child’s development and at Moo Music York we strongly believe in the benefits of music, movement and creative play. Using puppets, props, bubbles, instruments, and our specially written Moo tunes, we aid children’s development while having lots of fun. Our interactive classes are designed around our Moo Music songs developed by Early Years Educators and professional musicians. They are catchy and uplifting and many cover early years topics so the children are learning while having fun. At Moo Music York our sessions are baby and child led and our team is proud to provide a warm and judgment free environment that is a great way to make new friends – both for the children and the adults too. It is extremely rewarding to watch the children grow in confidence week by week building their social skills, physical abilities, speech and language skills, memory, coordination skills and musical ability and enjoyment. In a typical Moo session you can expect to sing, dance, dress up, explore, learn and play. Moo is all about having fun and connecting with your little one so the more you put in the more you get out. Each week we follow a different theme, go on all sorts of adventures and use new and exciting props to encourage imaginative play. In each session we have a mix of old and new songs. We repeat a few songs every week as children love familiarity and it is amazing how quickly they learn the songs by heart.
