La Catanaccia Football Academy is a football academy for children. Training for children begins at the age of 4 and continues until the age of 16. This is the best age for children to develop coordination and basic football skills. Starting a football adventure at this age allows a young football adept to learn all elements of football technique, anatomy of the game and the rules on the pitch, especially the rules of Fair Play. We believe in practising through fun and education through sport. We have special project for toddlers - Baby Football classes for children aged 2-4. We understand that every child is on different level and our coaches have learned to tailor sessions for maximum fun and personal development. We invite all children who want to start their adventure with football, because at La Catanaccia Football Academy we teach everyone to play football. Having chosen to spend the last 25 years working in Human Resources, I guess you could say that I’m passionate about all things HR. The principle aim of the school is for everyone in our school community to ‘Thrive Together’. Our original school is on Scotland Road in Basford and accommodates up to 280 pupils plus a nursery. Our second campus is on Highbury Vale (approx. a mile apart). The Kersall Drive Campus opened in October 2015 and now accommodates an additional 420 pupils plus a nursery. Achievement and enjoyment are important goals that we are determined to provide for all of our pupils in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Lisa McVeigh The Academy was established in 2008 by joint sponsors Sir David Samworth and the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. Their vision was to create an inclusive place where people and students come first and where students can be educated holistically as well as academically and leave prepared for a long and happy adult life – 70 plus great years. Our emphasis and exploration of our Christian values, as well as our membership of the international Round Square organisation, encourages students to ‘Be The Best They Can Be’ and to explore their own (perhaps hidden) talents and potential in a wide range of ways.
