I have 23 spent years working with people of all ages through education and sport. I am a former RFU Development Officer, Coach Educator and RFU Trainer. After spending 2 years as the Assistant Director of Rugby at Hartpury College, I moved back into education and spent 12 years, initially as a teacher of Physical Education, reaching the position of Assistant Headteacher. Since 2013 I have been working with the Bristol Bears Academy as a Centre Manager and Development Coach within the Aspire and Excel Programmes. I am passionate about the power of sport, particularly rugby, in developing the potential in people both on and off the field of play. This is what forms our purpose at Switch Rugby.

We are a Community Interest Company and we work across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, B&NES, North Somerset and Wiltshire. We work with children and young people aged between 6 and 25, identifying where the gaps in support exist. We work collaboratively with children, young people, families, professional agencies, Local Authorities, Schools, Voluntary Sector Organisations and charitable trusts/foundations to ensure that we meet the needs of our communities’ most vulnerable children and young people. Learning Partnership West (LPW) exists to inspire future aspiration and ensure that no child or young person is left without help. HL Training Services is an ITSSAR accredited training centre which started as a partnership in 1988 delivering forklift operator training run by partners Jeff Longdon and Vince Hueston. In 2003 Jeff semi-retired due to ill-health and Vince Jr joined the company. The company became limited when Angela, Vince Seniors wife, joined the company 2004. 2004 was also the year we decided to introduce forklift instructor training, as well as ITSSAR.

ASDAN is an education charity and awarding organisation providing courses, accredited curriculum programmes and regulated qualifications to engage, elevate and empower young people aged 11 to 25 years in greatest need. We define young people in greatest need as those living in poverty, without support for their emotional and social needs, those with a special educational need or disability, those not engaged or succeeding in their education, who miss an English and/or Maths pass at 16 or subsequently, and who are at risk of becoming NEET. Our goal is to engage them through relevant and motivating courses to achieve meaningful learning outcomes, which elevate them to go on to further education, training and work, and empower them to take control of their lives. We do this by developing courses with an accessible and practical pedagogy for learners; and by working with our partner educators to foster the personal, social and work-related abilities of young people in greatest need. We know the development of personal, social and work-related abilities is vital for learners of all abilities because: strengthening these abilities supports academic and vocational learning they are particularly effective in re-engaging young people in greatest need they are important for accessing knowledge and skills at work they are especially important for entry level work they equip learners to live well and make full use of their abilities We believe that young people should have the opportunity to discover, develop and make use of their abilities to affirm their identities, contribute to society, and challenge educational and social inequalities.
