I am Jacqui Shankly, and I have worked for over 20 years supporting families with young children. I began working in Early Years community music for the charity sector, working with families throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands. I loved my work, and what fascinated me most was the power of music to stimulate fun, playfulness, conversations and connection between children and their parents and carers. So began a lifetime of interest and research into early childhood development and attachment, culminating in training as a Play Therapist and founding Moonbeams CIC, an organisation dedicated to promoting positive childhood mental health through direct work with children, and support for the adults around them. My passion and joy is working with families. Parents are their child’s first and most enduring teacher, and the family dynamic forms the basis of a child’s future view of the world. Parenting is one of the most demanding jobs in the world, and everyone needs support from time to time. My approach is playful, non-judgemental and supportive. Whether you access individual Play Therapy or Filial Therapy support for your child or a child in your care, , or access one of my online training courses, then I am confident that your connection with your child will grow stronger, and your confidence to support them through life’s challenges will be enhanced.

I have over 20 years of experience; as a Primary Teacher, working and managing teams in Youth Justice, supporting schools as both an Education Safeguarding Advisor and LADO (responding to allegations against staff), most recently as a Virtual School Head focusing on Children Looked After and Previously Looked After. With a psychology degree, a PGCE with educational psychology and extensive continuous professional development; I am able to combine theory and the latest research, to ensure up to date and evidence based practice. As an NLP Practitioner I can offer coaching and supervision, as an AIM Associate I can deliver training specifically created for education professionals around understanding and managing Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence, meeting the requirements of the latest KCSIE guidance around peer to peer abuse in schools, and I am trained to deliver the Safer Working Consortium's Safer Recruitment training.

Design and Technology at Bankfields Primary School is essentially a practical subject that allows children to think imaginatively and creatively.The school has two buildings known as the East Building and the West Building. The main office and the Headteacher’s office are located in the West Building. The Reception, Y1, Y2, Y3 and Year 4 children are based in the West Building. The Y5 and Y6 team plus the Nursery are based in the East Building. The school is organised into four teams – Mrs C Ward Foundation Stage (EYFS and KS1 lead) Mr P Bennett Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) Mrs K Lee Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6) Each team is led by a senior member of staff. Children in every team benefit from the extra support provided by teaching assistants. There is a high level of staffing in the Early Years team to ensure the particular needs of the younger pupils are fully met. On entry to school each child is placed in a mixed ability class in the care of a class teacher. The class teacher is responsible for the learning and pastoral care of the children in his/her class. We are an OFSTED regulated Nursery and Primary School. We deliver the EYFS (Early Learning Foundation Stage) and the basic understanding of an Islamic curriculum to your child. Here at Darul Madinah we actively promote working together with the parents/carers of the children within our care.
