SCDC was Founded on June 6th 2011 by Katie Tonkin-Beardmore, SCDC Dance School has grown to become one of the biggest and best-known dance schools in the S-O-T Area. Offering a wide range of classes for all ages & abilities. All Performers/Dancers Will Build Up To Perform In Our Dance School’s Annual Show & Performances held every year. Our aim is to keep kids happy, healthy and out of trouble, since lockdown hit we have seen children’s confidence hit rock bottom, and our aim is to help them get it back. Katie and her amazing team of teachers strive to get the best from your children. If your child is sat at home constantly on their phones/devices SCDC is the best place for them. We will help your child’s confidence by improving their fitness and give them a better social life, making new friends and feeling safe in the environment we provide. We offer classes in Street & Hip Hop Dance, Ballet, Jazz/Commercial, Gymnastics,Singing, Fitness, Yoga, Self Defence, Drama & Musical Theatre. IDTA Exams in Street Dance offered every year. Workshops with Famous Industry Teachers from all over the Globe held every 3 months for extra training. Newcomers are welcome to trial our classes FREE of charge, Booking is required in case our classes have reached full capacity. When arriving at SCDC head to the main reception to speak with our receptionist, upon your arrival you will be given a welcome pack this will include everything you need to attend for the duration of your stay. Uniforms are NOT required at SCDC, we give you the option to buy. Clothing needed for your child/yourself : anything that is breathable, Leggings, Joggers, T-shirts/Hoodies, Trainers for footwear is perfect. The dancer/performer can join in or watch during the FREE trial, parents must wait in the waiting room provided & also view from the viewing windows, whilst enjoying a nice cup of Tea or Coffee. Our studios have a small Confectionary & catering area, feel assured if your peckish or thirsty we have food and drinks available to buy.

The Film and Video Workshop is an educational charity founded in June 1997 by Simon Oatley. Our objective is the education of adults, children and young people in the art of film, video and other types of media. We aim to work particularly with those people who are in need by reason of disability, age or economic circumstance. The company has grown steadily since its formation and is now the largest producer of child and young people directed moving image work in the United Kingdom. Many of the films we have helped produce have been shown in international film festivals and some have won prestigious awards. Each year we work with approximately 1000 film makers and produce some 300 films. Past clients include Tate modern, Tate Britain, The National Portrait Gallery, Arts Council, Film London, Film Council, Skillset, Cartoon Museum, Learning and Skills Council, Tribal Education, London Development Agency, ten of the London councils, BBC, Channel 4 and Nickelodeon. Recent premiere screenings have been held at the London Imax Cinema and the Odeon West End. In addition we provide adult training, specialising in the creative use of digital technology. The current courses selection includes four video production courses, stop motion, animation techniques, after effects, Avid and FCP. We subsidise a selection of introduction courses to enable people to start filmmaking as well as provide CPD for professionals. All our courses have a 40% reduction for concessions. The media centre is open 6 days a week with over 80 weekly users. The company is managed by an unpaid board of directors to whom we are very grateful for their long standing support. Hi, I am Sarah Sonraya Grace. My family and close friends call me Sarah, whilst for my work people know me as Sonraya. I love all things bright and beautiful. I love Nature in all its glory. The Earth is a very grounding and inspiring force in my life and I love to celebrate the changing cycles and draw on the Earth’s wisdom for my own healing and other people’s healing. I am a Cosmic surfer too, loving all things mystical and magical. Being a Piscean I love water and I am blessed to say I live with my family, by the expansive Ocean and the rich abundant wildlife down on the Dorset coastline in Poole. Since a child I have always been in awe and wonder of Nature and creation itself, enjoying the myriad of animals and birds coming in and out of our garden and my special apple tree that always gave me great comfort when the world felt too big to handle.

As a young NQT eager to get into the classroom, I was so fortunate to land my first teaching role at a re-known South Leicestershire Primary School. My teaching style: Focus on what they 'can do' build self-esteem & resilience & deepen understanding. With this positive approach to children's learning I noticed that before long, their confidence to tackle the tasks they couldn't do grew, often with exceptional results. Although my heart always remained in the classroom, it wasn't long before I started moving into more Senior roles as I was keen to impact on whole school development. Passionate about getting the right learning to children when they are younger, I went on to become Head of Key Stage 1 & Literacy with a special interest in how phonics was taught. When you first qualify to become a teacher, interests you may have had then, often change. Always the creative at heart I often took learning away from the desk & into the hall as children re-enacted key periods in history/literacy texts through dance/drama/music. Not only did we cover the curriculum, but it also gave children who may have struggled in the classroom, the opportunity to shine through the arts. Recognising & nurturing children's talents in this way was so rewarding & boosted their confidence back in the classroom too. I went onto become Advanced skills teacher of performing arts. As well as working with my incredibly talented Deputy Head/Head of Music to develop our reputation in this area, I was also seconded to work in other schools in the county to develop that part of the curriculum for them too. I then diversified & became Head of Behaviour Management & Pupil Well-Being. I attending various seminars run by the incredibly inspirational Dr Bill Rogers (Behaviour Management Specialist who sketched his way through seminars rather than power-points!) His simple yet effective strategies changed the way we managed behaviour back in the classroom. As we know, children mis-behave for a reason. If we can get to the root of it, we can work together to find ways to de-escalate a situation before a child ultimately goes into crisis. Unsurprisingly, I developed an interest & connection with Team Teach, award-winning 'positive handling' training which helps staff support pupils with challenging behaviour.
