London Writing School offers online writing workshops designed to offer some inspiration, make you think about the craft of writing and carve out some time in the day to get pen to paper. Our paid courses allow you develop an idea at your own pace. Who are the workshops for? Perhaps you want to give writing a go but aren’t sure what will happen. Maybe you used to write and want to get back to it. Or you write, but would like more structured inspiration and a practice session. The sessions are designed so that you can make the most of them whatever stage you're at. What do we do? We usually have a warm up exercise around the theme of the workshop, do a little bit free writing, and then there’s a chance to build a more structured scene that could go on to become a short story, or even spark an idea for a novel. If you are full of ideas we hope to bring them into sharper focus, if you’re feeling a bit creatively empty we aim to fill you up and get you going again. Do we share work? In the free sessions we don’t read out work or share it with others. Come and experiment with no judgement. About the teacher I've been shortlisted for various awards and schemes including the BBC Writers’ Room, Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger, Theatre 503 seed commissions and the Launch Pad Manuscript Competition. I write in different forms. My work has been on stage in London, audio drama 'The Grove' has thousands of downloads and my novel 'A Company of Roses' is available on Amazon. I have an MA in Screenwriting and a PGCE from Goldsmiths University where my focus was on creativity.

Multi-award winning Pigfoot Theatre tell stories about the climate and ecological crisis, with the least carbon impact possible. An associate company of English Touring Theatre (ETT), our work ‘practises what it preaches’ (The Sunday Times on Pigfoot) and protests within an industry which, in London alone, has a carbon footprint of 50,000 tonnes a year. Our bike-powered family comedy ‘How To Save A Rock’ has toured with ETT to Northern Stage and Theatre By The Lake, with Battersea Arts Centre & Found in Music, and with support from Slung Low to the Albany, Camden People’s Theatre, Poplar Union, the Pound Arts Centre, and more. HOT IN HERE (an energy-generating dance party), co-produced by the Gate Theatre, commissioned and supported by Camden People's Theatre, toured across the UK in Autumn 2022 to venues including Theatre by the Lake, York Theatre Royal, MAST Southampton, the North Wall Arts Centre, the egg Bath, mac Birmingham, ARC Stockton Arts Centre, Nonsuch Studios, and Contact Manchester. Our new show, Hostile Environments, supported by Boundless Theatre’s Accelerator programme, will begin development in 2023. We have also run workshops, delivered sustainability consultancy, and run engagement programmes for organisations including the National Theatre, Southbank Centre, Rambert, HOME Manchester, and Guildhall School of Speech and Drama. Pigfoot began in Oxford, producing site-specific work by the River Thames and at the Oxford Playhouse. The former Head of Games, Guy Fletcher, was the reason I applied to Bedford School. Bringing (as I did) the Tonbridge 1st XI for the annual two-day cricket match to Bedford, Guy was not only the first at the ground in the morning, ready to welcome us with a huge energy, beaming smile, full of laughter and cheer, coffee, all we needed, but also first in the nets to throw balls at his boys, attending to their needs, tough on them when he needed to be, listening, cajoling, hugely respected, greatly loved. He cared deeply, about them, about winning, yes, but more about doing things the right way, teaching boys how to grow up, to be good men, to ask a lot of themselves, but also to show respect to those around them and to stand tall if things were not going so well. He asked a lot of himself, too. He loved sport, but he valued academic work, music, art, drama and all other interests as equals, as coherent strands in purposeful lives, and he was first to support everything away from the pitch, encouraging his boys to take an interest, to stretch their minds, to give life a go in all its richness. He was finally great fun, wonderful company after the game, full of insight into life’s quirkiness and making the most of every minute given to him. If the rest of Bedford School is like Guy, I thought, then it must be a great place. I now know that it is.
