I have always been absolutely mad about dogs and I cannot imagine that there will ever be a time that I won't be. This enthusiasm and love for dogs is clearly visible in my work. Gun dogs were my initial interest as my family had Weimaraners and Spaniels when I was growing up. Now, general obedience training and behaviour modification in pet dogs is the main focus of my career. I am based on a family farm in Tolleshunt D'Arcy with my pride and joy "Gus" - a Rhodesian Ridgeback (born September 2019). Many of my clients will meet him during our sessions and he may even be brought out as stunt dog. I adore taking on new clients and watching them progress exponentially with their dogs.

I'm a whole-istic dog trainer helping you to see your dog as a whole; physically, mentally and emotionally. In our sessions, we will seek to understand how your dog's behaviour, environment, life experiences and relationship with you fit together. I can support you and your dog to move beyond the limitations of past experiences so that you can both reach your full potential and be the best version of yourselves. I share my life with a Bullmastiff and a Spanish mixed-breed rescue, but I enjoy working with dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds. It's not just about training your dog. My training style is to give you the skills you need to understand your dog in order to effectively communicate with each other, so you can both feel confident and safe. By learning these skills in a low-stress environment, you will develop an unbelievable bond with your dog. After growing up in a family that always had multiple working dogs, I owned and trained my first gundog at the age of 12 and went on to successfully train and compete with many gundogs continuously over the next 15 years. I have also extensive experience teaching both dogs and handlers in training classes. I have worked my own terriers and, professionally, worked my own collies with sheep and had German Shepherds as house dogs.

My training ethos is based around positively reinforcing desired behaviours without the use of aversive methods, behaviour modification using the most up to scientific research into how dogs learn, and making training fun via the use of concept training and games. I have found play to be one of the most effective ways to improve the dog-human relationship, increase confidence and to create positive association for anxious or fearful dogs. I work with all breeds, from miniature Mexican Hairless and Chihuahuas to Boerboels and Bull Terriers. Puppies from 8 weeks and rescued street dogs from abroad, and I love them all. I am fully insured and qualified and my training is always ongoing to ensure I stay up-to-date. If you are looking for basic training for your puppy or adult dog, or find yourself struggling with any behavioural issues your dog may have such as jumping up, pulling on the lead, poor recall, lead reactivity towards other dogs, people, traffic or any other triggers, noise sensitivity, any anxiety-based behaviours, hyperactivity, separation distress, resource guarding or anything else, please get in touch.
