Many who've graduated from our Behaviour Dog Parenting Training (BDPT) have remarked how we've made them into a positive dog-parents and behaviourist for their dog, learning how to identify, analyze and effectively address behaviour issues before they become worse. Together, we apply knowledge, the gift of time and additional energy to your dog, delivering a powerful, life-changing shift in the way they think, feel and behave. We don't accept clients who might be unsure of their ability to do the homework required. Our client roster is full of people like you, who've committed to spending at least an hour more each day to engage in our program or decided to take our option for bi-weekly sessions. Your first step when trying to figure out a solution to a behaviour problem may be to talk to your Vet. Your Vet may refer you directly to PivotalChange.ca or they may suggest you go to a Veterinarian Psychiatrist. While we are recognized by the Complementary Medical Association (CMA) as a Canine Psychologist, it can be confusing. What is the difference? A Veterinarian Behaviourist/Psychiatrist has significantly more years in animal education, medical training and must have graduated from a Veterinary College. A potential alternative to a Veterinarian Psychiatrist is seeking a highly educated, Canine Psychologist and a Canine Behaviourist like myself. In addition to the CMA, I am accredited by the International School for Canine Psychology & Behaviour. I am also an IAABC Certified Dog Behaviour Consultant. The IAABC is an international body who has reviewed by work and recognizes those with the highest education and experience in their field. Our programs take advantage of an advanced education and experience in Strategic & Systems Thinking, and over 30 years applying current neuroscience, psychology & change science to human beings. We surround you and your dog with a team of professionally trained psychology-based behaviour specialists, with my end-to-end oversight of the behaviour progress. This allows us to flex with your schedule, and provide consistent quality results to change any behaviours.

We know dogs can think for themselves and encourage owners to facilitate this through appropriate guidance and choice making to enable learning, whilst being safe and calmly behaved. We offer 121 Consultations, 121 Training and 121 Puppy Training. Group classes are coming soon! Our understanding of dog behaviour has changed considerably over the past few decades. Historically, there were misunderstandings about why dogs behave as they do. For example, it was believed for a long time that dogs developed behaviours like aggression in order to achieve high status or ‘dominance’ over their owners. Unfortunately, this led to training methods based on coercion or punishment in order to ‘keep dogs in their place’. With recent research, we know that this type of approach is not only unnecessary but counterproductive. The NTIPDU have progressed in the years since it was formed and is now a leader in the development of canine related courses. National Training Inspectorate for Professional Dog Users The National Training Inspectorate for Professional Dog Users was incorporated as a company on the 23rd October 2002. It was formed as a result of the work carried out by the founding directors, who discovered at the time there were no National standards in place for dog handlers within the Security Industry. The NTIPDU has been fortunate to have had input from Government departments in developing the course and standards contained within. We have implemented a set of standards attainable by all, by keeping costs to a minimum enabling the handler to continue with training and retain employment concurrently. Once trained, the NTIPDU handler always has the support necessary from the Inspectorate itself, the Trainers and Instructors. The NTIPDU has within its resources the ability to provide a ‘pool’ of trained dogs, to its members should their own dog be unable to continue for any reason, thus enabling the handler to continue with his/her employment.

We are located just a couple of miles east of Elgin in beautiful rural surroundings. Sarah's Pet Services is owned and run by myself, Sarah Young with the indispensible help of my wonderful team, Lisa, Ilona, Lianne, Sam & Elaine. Since opening in 2017 we have proved to be a very popular pet services business. Covering Fochabers to Elgin to Lossiemouth we offer dog walking in groups or solo walks, pet pop in visits for puppies/older dogs, cat/small animal visits to care for your pets while you are away and horse care visits. Fully insured, we offer a free meet and greet visit prior to carrying out any care for your furbabies. In 2019 I decided to pursue my dream of having dog kennels, where I could offer exisiting and new customers a safe and comfortable place for their dogs to stay while they are away. I wanted to create a peaceful surrounding with emphasis on regular attention and proper exercise for my doggie guests. We have a block of 5 spacious kennels each with their own runs. Each dog is let out of their kennel 4 times a day and we are lucky to have a lovely onsite walk where we take the dogs twice a day for their walks. In addition, we now have an onsite 2 acre secure field for dogs who aren't allowed off lead to run and play in. I recognise every dogs needs are different, therefore I offer two packages depending on amount of exercise you wish your dog to get.
