Kennel Club registered, the club brings its experience to both the public street, and the show ring, training for excellence in obedience shows, companion shows, and acceptable behavior in all walks of life. Commands taught include walking to heel, sit and down stays and recalling dogs on command. Puppies taught in the beginners class are given these basics and Kennel Club Puppy Foundation assesment award Advanced Categories:- These classes are for owners whose dogs have progressed from the Beginners stage and wish to achieve Bronze, Silver, and Gold Kennel Club Good Citizens Awards and/or reach higher standards of obedience, including entering obedience shows. Commands used at these higher levels will be progressively taught for detailed exercises which include advanced heelwork, retrieve, send away, scent, advanced stays and advanced control work.

Dog training has come a long way over the years. Science progresses, our knowledge grows, and we learn and change the way we do things as a result. With more people than ever owning dogs, there is so much scope to make a real difference in the lives of people and their dogs. Most dog training focuses on changing dog behaviour. Concept training recognises that behaviour is driven by emotion, and so the focus is to change the dog’s emotional response. The concept trainer teaches concept games. They get real life results because they shape the dog’s brain. Arming dogs with the tools they need to cope with the world, and they have fun while doing it! Teaching concepts such as impulse control, management of arousal, focus, optimism, calmness, and boundaries, as opposed to behaviours such as sit and down, teaches the dog to think, to make good choices and encourage them to want to work with you. The relationship improves and the results just flow. Playing games with a dog teaches concepts and actually shapes a dog’s brain to continue to make great choices!

My name is Sarah and I am your local qualified level 5 behaviourist and trainer with over 7 years of experience working with dogs and their owners. I specialise in behavioural issues including reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety and resource guarding; however, I also love to work on the fun stuff too, both including puppies and general obedience. My methods revolve primarily around positive reinforcement and I want to offer advice that is effective and realistic. My clientele are those who want to work with their dog to understand their behaviour and truly address the deeper issues. This means that I won't promise you an overnight fix for 90% of problems because they don't exist without masking the problem. I relate dog training to weight loss. Quick fixes and fads may appear to work initially but eventually they create more problems or the problem re-emerges worse than ever. They just aren't sustainable and arguably unethical. Instead, if you follow a goal and work on changing habits, you'll get results long-term. I believe in rewarding dogs for good behaviour and I also believe in boundaries. I avoid use of prong and shock collars and aspire to set your dogs up for success. I have 3 dogs, a 7 year old tripawd German Shepherd called Bowser, a 5 year odl Rottweiler called Rosie and an 8 month old rescue German Shepherd called Pablo.
