We’re set on a single-site campus, so just about everything you need is close by, whether it be your tutors, your friends, your lectures or the places in which you like to relax. We began life in 1862 as an Anglican teacher training college for women. To mark our centenary in 1962, our name was changed to incorporate the current ‘Bishop Grosseteste’ title, in honour of Robert Grosseteste, the thirteenth century scientist, philosopher, educator, and Bishop of Lincoln (so he’s the one you have to thank for the long name!). In 2012 we achieved full university status and haven’t looked back since. We’ve seen a lot of things come and go since 1862, but we’ve never stopped providing first-class education and turning out high-calibre graduates who go out into the world and change people’s lives for the better. In recent years we’ve undergone an explosion of growth in many areas, remaining a small and friendly university whilst expanding and developing our portfolio of courses into more exciting new areas than ever before. We still consider ourselves experts in education – we have been doing it for 160 years after all – but our teaching courses now sit alongside an exciting range of other disciplines. We currently educate over 2,000 students in a wide range of subjects – within our ever-expanding undergraduate portfolio, our traditional PGCE teacher training routes, work-based Foundation Degrees, Master's courses and even Doctoral study (and much more in between). We pride ourselves on being a supportive community, always striving to improve the lives of our students. We’re exceptionally proud of the fact that, over the past 160 years, our commitment to first-class education has remained consistent. Our students are some of the happiest in the UK, which is incredibly important to us. We really care about our students and aim to support them all of the way through their studies, from application to graduation. Life after BGU is extremely important and we offer many different methods of support for your future career along the way.

I am a Therapeutic massage therapist with 38 years' experience working from Fremington, in Devon. I originally trained as a nurse and worked in both General and Psychiatric nursing! One of the best decisions of my life, was to beg and borrow the money to train as a massage therapist in London. and here I am, still passionately enjoying my treatments. I work closely with the NHS and other allied therapists and have my clinic in Fremington. I specialise in all massage disciplines. I can do a firm Remedial or Sports Massage and have released tension and spasms in several Olympic athletes as well as military staff and Formula One drivers. For me, massage keeps body and soul together and without that regular M.O.T to destress and release tension and pain throughout the body, I would certainly not be able to continue enjoying such a healthy lifestyle and living the dream. My clientele tends to be a variety of adults of all ages who enjoy a therapeutic treatment to improve their mobility and release aches and pains. A treatment to keep them moving, as well as young athletes who want a Deep Tissue or Sports massage to rectify a specific issue. I am also a clinical Aromatherapist and have used my oils to treat numerus conditions as well as detoxifying, uplifting and relaxing thousands of clients over the years. I have referrals from the medical professionals, chiropractors, and Osteopaths and if you want to have an informal chat about whether my treatments can help you, then please give me a ring.

London

Community Youth London (CYL) is an independent music and media charity which manages a variety of community-based services and initiatives, the majority of which are youth-oriented and led. CYL has developed many approaches with the aim of overcoming barriers to access so-called ‘hard to reach’ groups using targeted youth support programmes, marketing campaigns, outreach and alternative activities. These expertise’s have been successfully applied to our services and proven effective in attracting young people who have traditionally shied away from other initiatives. Through our work with celebrities, popular artists and respected community figures, we have gained the trust of young people in many disadvantaged areas. As an alternative measure to historical behaviour orders and restorative justice programs, CYL has delivered a range of one to one plus group programs that have been proven to not only help young people leave but also to stay away from a life of crime. Our charity became operational in January 2007 and quickly gained a positive reputation for our targeted work with young people, our approach to diversity and our innovative services. Since inception, CYL has grown from a vision to a reputable charity with an impressive track record and a growing database of over 47,000+ young people who work in London and the UK. Taking a multi agency approach towards addressing the needs of young people who are often marginalised, excluded or hard to reach.
