Southampton

As the Headteacher of this exceptional school, I am extremely proud of our ethos which is based on Respect, Pride, Creativity and Challenge. Staff and students embrace our values and as a result we are, arguably the most improved school on the South Coast. Regents Park is an over- subscribed mixed 11-16 school in the heart of Shirley, Southampton. The school is one of the oldest in Southampton steeped in history and over 100 years old. At Regents Park we provide a wonderful mix of tradition with a modern twist on teaching and learning ensuring that we provide a curriculum that generates interest, challenge and most importantly offers fun and excitement. Ofsted April 2018: ‘Teaching is characterised by highly effective planning, secure subject knowledge among the teachers, the use of a wide range of teaching strategies and the use of detailed information about pupils.’ Our pastoral care is second to none and we pride ourselves in the support and respect that emanates around the school with Student Leadership and Student Voice forming the platform on which the school continues to excel. Ofsted April 2018: ‘The strong messages about respect which flow from the top, and are modelled by all staff, are assimilated by pupils. Accordingly, they treat each other and adults with respect. Pupils’ behaviour around the school is exceptional. Their enthusiasm for learning is admirable, and their conduct in lessons is excellent.’ Our success is built on the commitment we have towards each and every student. As a small community school we understand the needs of each individual and data is used effectively to inspire each child to do their best.

We offer an exceptional academic and extracurricular experience at Samuel Whitbread Academy in an outstanding learning environment where students are expected to work hard and achieve their best. In our last Ofsted inspection, we were judged as ‘Good’ with many outstanding features and over the next three years we have set ourselves the target of being Outstanding! Our GCSE results are amongst the best in the local authority. We offer a well-balanced curriculum with plenty of choice to prepare our students for the next stage in their lives. Most of our students continue on to the Sixth Form, which is one of the largest and highest performing in the area - providing students with a huge range of courses designed to match the expectations of universities and employers. Our pastoral care is exceptional and we have dedicated pastoral support teams for each year group. The academy is also broken down into five houses, named after people who have made a distinctive contribution to our community. These provide the framework for the multitude of different competitions, celebrations and charity events that bring our school community together during the year. Extracurricular opportunity is a vital part of our ethos and we expect all of our students to get involved in at least one club or activity. There are a huge number of opportunities ranging from highly competitive sports teams to spectacular drama and musical performances. We enjoy showing visitors around the school so please take the opportunity to come and see us during the school day, so you can see the school in action and we can answer any questions you may have. The Maynard School

the maynard school

Welcome to The Maynard School! Set in a leafy area of central Exeter in Devon, we are the leading independent day school for girls aged 4 -18 (Reception – Year 13) in the South West. Steeped in a rich history dating back to 1658, The Maynard today is so much more than a top academic school. Over the years we have built an outstanding reputation for excellence in the Arts, Music and Sport whilst our pastoral care is widely regarded as second to none. We are a school where happy girls carve for themselves successful futures, create everlasting friendships and enduring childhood memories. As one of the oldest girls’ schools in the country, we pride ourselves on being experts in educating girls. Statistically it is a proven fact that girls in single-sex schools outperform their peers and The Maynard’s long history is testament to this success. We are an academically selective school and our students achieve outstanding public examination results year-on-year. League tables consistently place us as one of the highest performing schools in the South West. However, a Maynard education isn’t just about academic achievement. It is about so much more; we boast numerous individual and team champions in the sporting arena with access to some of the best facilities available; we are one of the highest achieving schools for music and drama in the county; we relish our timetable packed with trips and workshops to be enjoyed by the whole school. But we take our greatest pride from the happy, ambitious and successful students with whom we have the pleasure to work with each day!

Sullivan Upper Preparatory Department

sullivan upper preparatory department

9EP,

Sullivan Upper is a co-educational, inter-denominational, voluntary grammar school. The school was founded in 1877 and, since 1939, has occupied extensive grounds on the edge of Holywood. The school’s aims remain very much as they originally were: to provide the best possible education for all pupils, regardless of race, sex, background or religious denomination. Pupils come to Sullivan from a large catchment area, covering North Down, Ards and East Belfast. We provide for all our pupils as broad and balanced a curriculum as possible; we support it (as our motto lamh foisdineach an uachtar ‘the gentle hand foremost’ suggests) with a much-praised pastoral care system; and we extend it through a tremendous range of games, clubs, societies and other extracurricular activities. A truly dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff helps all of our pupils to develop their talents to the full and to prepare themselves effectively for the challenges and responsibilities of adult life. Our emphasis is strongly academic and we place a high value on academic achievement. Pupils entering the school at age 11 begin a 5-year course of study leading to GCSE examinations, in which they will be expected to enter for at least 9 subjects, and it is anticipated that the vast majority of those who take GCSE examinations will remain at school for a further 2 years to take GCE AS and Advanced Level courses before heading off to universities at home or across the water, including Oxford and Cambridge. Our proud record of tremendous results in public examinations shows that all pupils are empowered to realise their potential.
