I am extremely proud to be Principal and CEO of such an innovative, high performing and caring college. After studying at the College over 90% of our students progress into work or higher education. Student behaviour and attitudes at the College are rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. This results in high levels of success in our wide range of qualifications as well as exceptional student skill development and medal achievements in local, regional, national, and international skills competitions. At the most recent WorldSkills UK national finals our College was the best performing College in England. Students won gold medals in creative media makeup, silver medals in digital media production and visual merchandising, and foundation level students won gold medals in catering health and social care, and motor vehicle skills. College students also won seven gold medals in the Welsh International Culinary Championship. The amazing commitment and high levels of expertise of our teaching and support staff over the last year has been recognised in nominations for a TES national award (for our distance and online learning team) and through two national Pearson award nominations for our beauty and holistic therapies teaching team and for one of our learning support mentors. In the last three years, the College has opened two new world class campuses. The College-led MIRA Technology Institute (MTI) is located on the HORIBA MIRA Technology Park and is a learning partnership with HORIBA MIRA, Coventry, Leicester, and Loughborough Universities. Students and apprentices at this campus are building skills to support the disruptive technologies such as electrification and cyber security in the automotive industry. The College’s new Digital Skills Academy located on the Coventry University Technology Park represents part of our response to the fast-growing demand for digital skills in all industry sectors. Over the next year, we will be opening our Centre for Logistics Education and Research (CLEAR) at Magna Park, in partnership with Aston University and industry partner Wincanton. Wiltshire Equine Assisted Learning offers one to one social, emotional and mental health support through equine and animal assisted outdoor learning. creates positive opportunities for young people to thrive in the outdoors in a safe and supportive space, to reset the trajectory of life’s path. allows young people, through nurturing animals, to develop their empathy and find a sense of calm. gives learners real farming responsibilities, promoting satisfaction and pride. Being herd animals, horses seek connection and trust, and they mirror our behaviour. In working with them, learners are able to develop perspective of their own behaviour and begin to regulate their energy. All work with horses is from the ground (not ridden) and so no previous equine experience is necessary. Through interactions with animals, and the outdoor world in which they live, learners enjoy the freedom of nature, gain confidence, resilience, self-esteem and self-awareness by working on outdoor activities and a bespoke animal assisted learning program. Within our farm environment we are able to create holistic opportunities for learners to stretch their expectations and reach their full potential in a safe and supported way. Learners develop an understanding of themselves, their emotions, the perspective of others and in turn improve their focus, communication skills and their wellbeing. Preparation for adulthood Employment skills - we deliver tutoring, to include time keeping, record keeping, appropriate behaviour, health and safety, modelling good practice, team and independent work, and knowledge of job-based skills. Independent living - learners develop an abundance of practical skills, as well as communication, organisation, day to day maths, and budgeting. Engaging with the community - in working with horses, learners improve their social communication skills, their respect of self, empathy for others, body language, nurturing relationships, care and kindness. Health - learners work in the outdoors where we promote the benefit of fresh air and healthy living, activity and exercise, lifestyle choices, resilience, mindfulness and positive mental health skills. Managing transitions Learners are invited for a site visit with their support worker, parents or carers to assess the suitability of our sessions as their alternative provision. Transitions are than managed through a referral form to establish each individual learner’s needs and the tailoring of sessions appropriate to the targets of their education, health and care plans (EHCPs). Following an initial induction session we work to establish a trusting relationship in the first term, allowing the learner time to settle and familiarise, and for the facilitator to assess and develop a picture of their learner-led programme moving forward. We invite future provisions to join sessions to initiate a trusting relationship and understanding of our learner when preparing to move on or integrate into mainstream education. A portfolio of skills and CV of attainment will move with the learner, to be passed on to their next further education or provision.

Tariki Trust is a community of people who believe that our actions matter and our impact on others has consequences at many levels. Our spiritual and moral values are something which we live out, and that need to permeate all we do. They are not simply ideas or practices to be addressed in limited time slots during a busy day. Tariki Trust offers courses, training and retreats which centre on our shared interest in our living systems. These include training and events linked to ecotherapy, psychology, psychotherapy, environmentalism, spiritual care and other forms of engaged Buddhism. A UK registered Buddhist charity, Tariki Trust was founded in 2011 and has become an umbrella for a wide range of activities in these inter-related fields. Our non-sectarian outlook welcomes people from many backgrounds, some of whom are Buddhist, but many of whom are not, to share in building a vision of a more wholesome world, based on values of compassion, mutual support and care for our position as part of a greater system. Tariki Trust is a community of people who are interested in learning, ideas, creativity and social responsibility. We believe in practising through concern for others and engagement with life in all its forms. The name Tariki means 'other-power' in Japanese. Other-power is a fundamental concept in Pureland Buddhism and expresses our commitment to a collective, collaborative approach. It is also the basis for Other-Centred Approach, the model of psychotherapy which underpins many Tariki courses and events. The Other-Centred model is flexible, suggesting an attitude of engagement and encounter rather than of introspection and rigidity, and leading us to embrace many fields of involvement and cultural activities as well as the narrowly therapeutic. Many of Tariki Trust’s activities were run by an earlier organisation, established in 1996, and its course programmes have a history going back over several decades. Tariki Trust itself was established in 2011 in order to offer a dedicated space for these programmes and at this time the Ten Directions training programme in ecotherapy was also established. Tariki Trust is a UK Registered Charity Number 1149658. It has a board of trustees who oversee its work and ensure good practice. Tariki Trust does not have any salaried staff, but, rather, has teaching staff and others working on a sessional or occasional basis. This means that much of Tariki’s work in supporting courses and activities is done on a voluntary, dana basis. As a charity, Tariki Trust is subject to the jurisdiction of the UK Charity Commission and has a number of policies and guidelines in place for good practice. These can be viewed on our old website.
