The name Auxillias is derived from the Latin word ‘auxiliaris’ which means ‘a helping hand and reinforcement’ and represents the services that we provide to our clients. This is reflected in our company logo and the standard that we aspire to with every client we work with. As directors and shareholders of Auxillias we both have expertise in consumer credit, asset finance and motor. We have worked together for over 11 years but have known each other now for nearly 20 years and formed a solid knowledge-based team. It has always been an ambition of ours to set up our own law firm, and over many years on the commute home from seeing clients, we would discuss how one day we would realise our dream and launch a firm of our own, praised by our clients for its service excellence. Nature of the school and location Oldfield School is a successful, high attaining 11-18 mixed comprehensive with 1250 students located in the historic city of Bath. The school campus is on the outskirts of the north-west of the city and we benefit from a large, semi-rural setting with excellent transport links for students and staff. The school has an attractive, open and dispersed site. A notable feature is the location of teaching rooms and our Sixth Form in Penn House, an 18th century Georgian manor house. Our school has an excellent reputation locally and in the wider community for academic excellence and the quality of pastoral care and support. The school has with a comprehensive intake which reflects the diversity of the local community. The most recent Ofsted inspection was in January 2020, when the school was judged to be good in all areas. A feature of the inspection report was the inclusive nature of the school and the sense of community felt by staff and students. Inspectors commented that staff were overwhelmingly positive about the support that they receive from leaders and on how friendly and welcoming the school is for staff. Oldfield is a school where staff development is an essential feature. The teaching and support staff at the school are an excellent team who work well together to provide opportunities for students to achieve or exceed their potential. The needs of our students are paramount and this is recognised by all staff, who have a common view that only the best is good enough. We have a commitment to sharing good practice in developing leaders, teachers and support staff. The school has a successful and popular Sixth Form of 190 students. We offer a wide range of A Level courses and opportunities for our sixth form students and all faculties offer A Level courses. A Level classes are relatively small, which provides a personalised learning experience for our students. Curriculum The curriculum for Key Stage 3 follows the National Curriculum. Students study either Spanish or French throughout Key Stage 3 with the more able studying both languages. A wide range of courses additional to the core subjects are offered at Key Stage 4. Students are encouraged to study humanities and languages and the great majority do so. There is setting in ability groups in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 where appropriate. Almost all Key Stage 4 examination entries are GCSEs, Year 10 and 11 students typically study 9/10 GCSEs. Subjects are organised in six learning areas with the Leaders of Learning line-managed by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Pastoral Care Students remain in the same tutor group throughout their school career. The Heads of Year are responsible for the pastoral care of around 200-224 students from Years 7 to 11. The pastoral leaders are supported and line managed by a member of the SLT. We also have a House system to encourage a sense of community. The four houses are led by a Head of House and there are regular inter-house competitions and fund raising events. Resources and Accommodation The provision of high quality resources is a priority for the school. There are specialist teaching rooms for all subjects and most teachers have their own teaching room. ICT facilities are excellent with specialist ICT teaching rooms as well as comprehensive ICT facilities in many general teaching rooms. The school is very well maintained, ensuring that learning spaces of the highest possible standard are a priority. Oldfield School is a fantastic place to work. He was the 2010 World Unequipped Powerlifting Champion.[1] Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he developed meningitis as an infant which severely affected his immune system and stunted his growth. As a result he was short and very underweight as a child. Rutherford began weight training after being bullied at school. In 1985, aged 15, and at a body weight of only 79 pounds (36 kg) he took up the sport of powerlifting. He competed as junior lifter until 1989. The 5 ft 6in personal trainer won 11 championship titles from 1986 to 1990 but then retired. In March 2007 he promised his nine-year-old son he would make an improbable comeback after watching the film Rocky Balboa, starring Sylvester Stallone, which was all about Rocky being older but making a ring comeback. In 2007 he achieved a silver medal at the European Powerlifting championships,[2] and then bronze at the 2009 World Championships. In 2010 he finally achieved his dream of becoming World Powerlifting Champion at the age of 41. He again won the World Championships for a 2nd time in November 2011. His Daughter Hayley Rutherford (15) and his son Ryan Rutherford(14) also won their respective divisions at the World Championships. Hi there - I'm Paul Green, the founder of The Business Community. I've been an independent business owner since 2003 and love working with small businesses; in particular family-run businesses. I'd like to share a little story about the reason for this and what my "why" is. What drives me My father ran his own small business designing, manufacturing and supplying electrical control panels to various companies within the UK and overseas. At the age of 11, unfortunately, the business went bust - as happens to quite a few businesses. This meant having to move house, move schools - money was tight and the atmosphere was not that great in the household. Having gone through this experience, it obviously left an impression. A few years ago, I attended a workshop (run by Jacky Sherman) looking at why a person is in business and exploring the type of businesses that I enjoyed working with. In this session, the seed that was subconsciously planted many years before emerged. It became apparent that what was driving me in my endeavours to support small, family-run businesses, is that I didn't want any children associated with the business owners to go through the trauma of a failed business! This is why I strive to impact the performance of the businesses I work with; having them be better at what they do - focusing on profitability and cashflow within the business. My journey My experience and knowledge of 20 years being employed by someone else and to date, working with 100s of business owners, gives me the confidence and ability to offer business advice, coaching and training when given the opportunity to do so. Having experienced the trials and tribulations that face a small business on that entrepreneurial journey, I am passionate about making sure businesses don't make the same mistakes that I made en route! I am a big believer in collaboration and encourage businesses to work together to grow their businesses; as well as offering help and support to each other for mutual gain. In 2020, my story culminated in the creation of The Business Community. This brings together my principles of businesses working together.
