The Federal Trust is a think tank that studies the interactions between regional, national, European and global levels of government. Founded in 1945 on the initiative of Sir William Beveridge, it has long made a powerful contribution to the study of federalism and federal systems. It has always had a particular interest in the European Union and Britain’s place in it. In more recent years, it has supplemented its European work by studies on devolution and regional government in the United Kingdom and a series of reports on global governance. The Federal Trust has no allegiance to any political party. It is registered as a charity for the purposes of education and research. Since 1818 a small Schoolhouse nestled under the gaze of the clock tower in the heart of the picturesque village of Enniskerry in Ireland’s ‘garden county’ Wicklow. This was a school for children, a house of learning where young minds explored, examined and recited the rhymes and reasons of the unfolding world. For almost two centuries its solid walls absorbed the chants and childish chatter of thousands of young voices. In 2011, the children marched up to the top of the hill to their perfect new school. The old schoolhouse fell silent for two years and quietly waited while its guardians debated and deliberated over the commercial and the common good… … ‘Schoolhouse for Art’ was deemed to be a fitting substitute. Schoolhouse for Art is in essence a facility for the study and exploration of the visual arts. Located in ‘the old schoolhouse’ in the heart of Enniskerry village it is an exhibition space and a meeting place where images and ideas mingle. It caters for all ages and all abilities. The former school playground is a natural arena facing the clock tower, a three-dimensional canvas to display an evolving gallery of large pieces of sculpture. The ‘Schoolhouse for Art’ is also a host to visiting artists from across the globe who want to paint the surrounding inspiring countryside and experience the unparalleled Irish hospitality.

Over 2,000 members of City’s community took part in the innovative stakeholder engagement programme, sharing over 13,500 ideas and contributions through a series of in-person and online staff sessions, focus groups, workshops, a student engagement day and the interactive and anonymous online platform, the Big City Conversation. We aim to become a key hub for emerging fiction filmmaking talent in Scotland, supporting writers, directors and producers to develop creatively and professionally, and stimulating the creative and commercial success of Scotland’s film sector. Short Circuit has an international outlook, helping Scotland-based filmmakers navigate the hugely exciting opportunities of the short film and first feature world. Sharp Shorts Our short film scheme – Sharp Shorts – invites teams, writers and writer/directors to submit their short film ideas, and also encourages directors and producers to submit a note of interest to take part. This year, up to 12 projects will be selected to take part in a 3-month development phase. After pitching for a production award in September 2022, up to 9 projects will be selected to receive up to £15,000 of funding. Applications for Sharp Shorts 2022 are now closed. Further information is published here. First Features First Features supports projects from initial idea to fully polished draft. There will be two levels of awards, distinguished between early development (to treatment or first draft) and further development (second draft and beyond). You will be able to apply via the online application form for support at either level. The scheme is for writing, writing/directing and producing talent from all across Scotland who have bold and compelling fiction projects with theatrical ambition and the potential to resonate with audiences globally.

Dr. Erica Colón is a National Board Certified Teacher with over twelve years of teaching experience in 6th-12th grade secondary science, including Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Marine Science. In 2008 Erica earned her Master’s in Educational Administration, but quickly realized her passion was working with science teachers. Erica returned to earn her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011, and through one of life’s unexpected turns, she founded Nitty Gritty Science, LLC and has reached tens of thousands of science teachers all around the globe! In 2020, a global pandemic changed the course of history, quickly changing our daily lives in all aspects, and in the scope of education it changed how teachers taught and how students learned. Everywhere educators faced pandemic-driven remote learning that they had to navigate on their own, practically overnight. Looking for ways to support science teachers, Dr. Colón gathered science educators, communicators, and field scientists to learn from one another, as well as share ideas, struggles, and perseverance of added workloads and in doing so, brought together a team of champions!
