One of our main priorities this year will be to ensure, as far as we can, that no child is left behind and that every child is challenged by the curriculum that we have in place. Students should find things difficult, although not impossible, at times. They should struggle at times and be expected to think deeply about the work that they do. They shouldn’t be getting everything right all of the time; if they are, the work is too easy and they’re not being challenged. None of this means that they shouldn’t be enjoying their learning; being challenged can be enjoyable. The curriculum is the bread and butter of our educational offer and should be inspiring a real thirst for learning; we can only do this through supporting and challenging. The Jo Hyne Dance School is a friendly, local school, with classes in the Totton and Eling Community Centre, Totton, Southampton, Hampshire.photo_3 Jo Hyne Jo has been involved in dance from a young age and was one of an elite few trained by The Royal Ballet School and English National Ballet. Mrs Hyne is also trained and qualified in the ISTD Syllabus (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing), which enables children to be put in for ISTD examinations. The school has been established for 8 years now, and is continuing to grow successfully. We offer classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern Dance, Jazz , Musical Theatre and Street, in a fun but disciplined atmosphere, and the children often get to dance in local fund raising events, school fetes, join in the Carnival and as well as performing in the School Show, children can have the opportunity to audition for local /regional auditions for any productions that arise. BALLET (ISTD). AGE 3 – ADULT This beautiful classical art form is the basis and grounding of all Dance and movement. With its creative lines,artistic shapes and sheer strength, it is the main key to preparing the body to conquer all the other forms of Dance. MODERN DANCE (ISTD) FROM YEAR R- ADULT This is a more energetic, rhythmic dance style which was born in America before travelling worldwide. This is the form often seen in West End shows in the Musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities too. These classes are structured, with set exercises and free work, which include isolations, jumps, and lyrical work. TAP DANCE (ISTD) YEAR R – ADULT This is where the dancer performs wearing special shoes which enable him/ her to strike the floor, beating out different rhythms to give a distinctive sound. This dance form is again found in Musical productions and is also a theatrical art.

The Clan Macpherson Museum first opened its doors in 1952 to house treasures already in the hands of individuals. Over the years it has grown considerably in both size and stature and now boasts a large collection of artefacts and other objects of historical importance. The collections are significant to the Highlands of Scotland and to members of the Macpherson Clan in particular. To the Museum's acclaim it has achieved accreditation with the Museum Galleries Scotland and the Arts Council England. It has also been awarded 4-Star Museum status with Visit Scotland (Scottish Tourist Board). The layout of items in the Museum is organised in chronological order enabling a story to be told through objects, documents and text as you make your way round. There is an audio-visual presentation provided at the start of the Museum's circuit and this gives visitors insight into the clan system and the Macpherson Clan. You can take a video tour of the Museum as it was revised in 2020 by going here. The Chief of the Clan Macpherson is James B Macpherson of Cluny, the Clan's 28th Chief. Members of the clan are fortunate to have their Chief living in Scotland; Cluny, as he is referred to, takes an active part in Clan activities and he has a strong presence in the Museum itself. The Clan Macpherson Museum Trust, which is a charitable trust, runs the Museum, and the Museum Advisory Committee manages it. Neither trustees nor managers receive remuneration for their work; they are all volunteers. There is no Government or Local Authority funding available to the Clan Macpherson Museum; it relies totally on donations from visitors and members of the Clan Macpherson Association for its existence and continual growth. Entry to the Clan Macpherson Museum is free, however, it costs about £3 per person to keep the Museum open, so a donation "in the box" would be appreciated for those who wish to make a contribution. All donations are much appreciated and go towards the upkeep of the Museum and of its unique collections. We are proud to be a Scottish Tourist Board Four Star Museum, have a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, be Assisted Wheelchair Access Registered and an Accredited Museum. In the New Testament, Christ showed us that the purpose of God’s Work is twofold. First, we are to proclaim to the world, as a witness, the good news of the coming Kingdom of God. As part of that witness, because of mankind’s sins we are to publish the Bible’s warning of the disasters that will precede Christ’s Second Coming. Secondly, we are to spiritually nourish the Church itself, preparing the people God calls for future responsibilities under Christ when He returns to rule all nations in love. The many and varied endeavors of the pcg all trace back to this clear, exciting twofold commission. The ministers and members of the pcg are dedicated to proclaiming and living the way of life explained in the Bible. It is a way of sharing and giving, of caring for others, of striving for godliness in all our dealings with our fellow man. Our strong faculty staff ensure that students are able to learn and complete ISTD exams in a multitude of dance genres (Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre, Jazz, Contemporary, Street, Rock 'n' Roll and Freestyle) as well as LAMDA solo acting exams and London College of Music singing exams. Higher level ISTD and LAMDA exams also carry beneficial UCAS points for university. We are a family run school that has been running for over 5 years and we really enjoy coming each Saturday to see everyone! We have our amazing bi-annual show and in between this an ‘Exhibition of Work’ evening and an annual ‘Acting Showcase’ followed by a prize-giving. Every August we have our ever growing popular Summer School with our amazing Musical Director Robert Hyman and Pixie. All the students have worked so hard every Saturday and Tuesday and Thursday evenings, we are extremely proud of them all! It is so wonderful to see the students come to us to learn and grow into talented individuals. We have our wonderful teachers to thank for this and parents for being so supportive. Lily Boreham and Taite Grindlay were selected to be part of The English Youth’s Ballet production of ‘Cinderella In Hollywood’ in July 2018. Lucia Wratten was a finalist in the ISTD Junior Ballet Awards in October 2018 and 2019, and also qualified for the ISTD National Finals in Solo Disco Freestyle Set Dance in 2020. Faye Wood was a finalist in the ISTD Junior Ballet Awards in October 2018. In 2019, Harvey Alcott passed his LAMDA grade 8 (gold medal) with a distinction, aged 16. Lucy Shaw was cast for a feature film ‘120 Hours’ in 2019 and also a short film ‘Our Plastic Beach’ in 2020. Mary Alcott and Lucia Wratten were awarded scholarships from The English Youth Ballet. Elise De Boos, Jessica Fleet, Holly McDonagh, Madison Karukus were also selected for the production of ‘Giselle’ in March 2020. Scarlett Coles qualified in Solos for the ISTD Freestyle Nationals in 2020. Our Elite Competition Team came 1st Place at the ISTD competition in 2020. Annabelle Holland, Mary Alcott, Elise De Boos were awarded scholarships to the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Ruby Rose Rider, Madison Karakus and Jessica Tickel were awarded full time places too. Jessica Tickel recently auditioned and has now been offered a full time place at Arts Educational School. Holly-Marie Davenport was awarded a DADA and joined Bird College in 2019. Taite Grindlay was accepted into the Dance Conservatoire. Ruby Rose Rider auditioned and was offered after a place at The National Youth Theatre as a member and ambassador. In September 2019 Ruby-Rose successfully auditioned at the Arts Educational School and joined their sixth form. She will be going into her second year in September 2020 as Head Girl. In 2020, Elise de Boos, Lottie Wright, Holly McDonagh and Madison Karakus gained places to attend Performers Elite Program, training with the college once a month for a year. During Lockdown 2020, Lucia Wratten and Scarlett Coles qualified for ISTD Grand National Finals, Scarlett placed in the top 12 and Lucia Wratten placed 3rd in the whole of the UK. We also competed online for the prestigious Janet Cram awards where there were over 700 entries. Holly-Marie, Lucia and Scarlett were Semi finalists, placing in the top 20. Izzy White auditioned and successfully gained a place in December 2020 to start The British & Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) in Sept 2021. Christina Turner passed London College of Music (LCM) Grade 8 singing with g8 singing with a distinction. In Feb 2021 our elite team Qualified to represent England in Small group Street, Show dance and Jazz. Holly-Marie Davenport was selected to compete in the Senior Jazz Solo section for the Dance World Cup ,representing England.

Sometimes it is stressful to see some dogs listening to their owners when yours is not concentrating or barking at other dogs and pulling on the lead when taking your daily walk. Or you don’t understand why your dog does not come back to you when you call them, 5 times, 8 times, 10 times…… I feel your pain! Hi, my name is Tracey Ordish and I am the Owner/Head Trainer at Dishy K9 Care & Train. My family and I have all found a love of dogs through our own furry friend, a black Labrador named Joey whom we have had since he was a puppy. My husband Mike, (Dish or Dishy to his friends) has also had dogs in his family growing up and states that no home is complete without a furry companion! So True! We enjoyed learning with Joey at Puppy Classes and had the basic training covered…….or so we thought!! No-one told us that in a few months, Joey would be a teenage hoodlum!! Chewing carpets, not listening to the basic training we had learned together and literally turning our lives upside down! Were we wrong to bring a puppy into our lives?? Of course not, although it felt it at the time believe me! How my business was born - In late 2015 I needed to leave my admin job of 17 years to concentrate on helping my son with his anxiety and schooling issues. However, I needed to work to bring in some money. I needed to find a job from home so that I could continue helping him. After hearing a family member talk about Dog Day Care, a lightbulb moment happened! My son had stated that if it wasn’t for our dog, Joey, he didn’t know where he would be. So, what better way to help both our situations than bring more dogs into our home! So, I enrolled onto the Level 2 Dog Care Course with Progress Dog Training and Dishys K9 Care was born. Day care, walking and then Dog Boarding! Ever since starting the business in 2017, we have loved everything that dogs show us and how we need to understand them more. Don’t get me wrong, we have experienced lots of stressful issues with multi household dogs within our dog boarding service. Here are some examples. Can you relate?: 1. Barking and lunging towards other dogs or people whilst on lead! 2. Pulling so hard whilst on a walk that your arm feels sore and you feel that you have been taken for a walk, not the dog! 3. Growling or lashing out at other dogs or people, including most of the members of my family, when they have food or toys! 4. Jumping up to food on the sideboard in the kitchen and trying (or succeeding in) stealing the food! 5. Barking at every noise they can hear! These issues made me think in the beginning that they were just being naughty dogs. I was so wrong! Having this experience and having been on a journey of discovery into the world of dog training, I have realised how amazing dogs are and how we need to understand what they are telling us! We can help them achieve so much with kindness, understanding and positivity. Emotions, such as anxiety, are behind a lot of our dog’s behaviour’s therefore, just as I have with my son, we need to help them in their day to day lives . I enrolled with the Dunbar Academy and the Dog Training College in 2020 and I learned so much from the experts on their courses that I felt an overwhelming need to become a dog trainer!!! In September 2021 I graduated an intense 6 month course to become a Certified Dog Trainer with the Dog Training College and I took the brave step to focus on training full time! In February 2022, I passed all the assessments following a 3 month course with the Pet Professional Network and I am now a Distinctive Dog Trainer!
