<p>Your expert course leader is an international legal expert in petroleum law who is based in Scotland. He received the degrees of Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming and LLM-Energy Law from the University of Utah. He has been listed in the Guide to the World's Leading Energy and Natural Resources Lawyers. In over 30 years of practice, he has been chief legal officer in petroleum companies, consultant to development banks and aid programmes, and law professor.</p>
<p>His private sector experience included positions as General Counsel of the Petroleum Corporation of New Zealand and Chief Legal Officer for Sinclair Oil Corporation in the United States. He has been a consultant to the Asian Development Bank, The World Bank and the European Investment Bank on petroleum sector policy, gas sales agreements, and production sharing contracts. This has included assignments in Cambodia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Laos, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, and Vietnam.</p>
<p>Your expert course leader has been an adviser and trainer on negotiations for various petroleum companies including BP, BG Group, Gazprom, KazMunayGas, Perushaan Gas Negera, Pertamina, PETRONAS, Philippine National Oil Corporation, Total, Shell and Statoil. He was appointed by Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as the lead negotiator on behalf of four West African governments for the West African Gas Pipeline Project.</p>
<p>His academic credentials include an appointment as Distinguished Visiting Professor for Oil &amp; Gas Law at the University of Wyoming. He is currently Honourary Professor for International Petroleum Law at the University of Dundee Centre for Energy, Petroleum &amp; Mineral Law and Policy. At CEPMLP, he has been the Course Director and principal instructor for seminars on Petroleum Industry Negotiations, Petroleum Service Contracts, Gas Industry Contracts, and Downstream Petroleum Law. He is the course author of International Comparative Petroleum Law. His publications include A Framework for Negotiating and Documenting International Petroleum Transactions and A Framework for Negotiating and Managing Production Sharing Contracts and Related Agreements. His academic work has been published in the Land and Water Law Review, Tulsa Law Journal and Journal of Comparative and International Law.</p>

<p>This 5 full-day course will focus on geological fundamentals: how different basin types differ in subsidence mechanisms, basin cycles, heat flow through time, depositional systems, structural styles and their type of petroleum systems. This will allow participants to make realistic interpretations in new areas; interpretations that are consistent with the specific basin type and to be expected depositional systems and structural styles. </p>
<p>In addition, through simple paper-based exercises, the course will provide background and understanding of how some of the typical PBE products are made: creaming curves, Field-size plots and Yet-to-find. Finally, the essentials of commercial assessments will be covered.</p>

<p>Your expert course leader has a PhD in Geology from the University of Utrecht. He worked for 31 years (1979 -2010) with Shell as an exploration geologist in a variety of functions across the globe. As Principle Technical Expert, he was responsible for ensuring that Risk &amp; Volume assessments were carried out consistently and correctly in all of Shell's exploration units.</p>
<p>In this capacity, he led and participated in countless prospect review sessions and developed and conducted a successful in-house course on Risks &amp; Volume assessment. As manager of the Exploration Excellence Team, he performed in depth analysis of basins and plays and provided advice on exploration opportunities to senior management. Together with his team, he visited most of Shell's exploration offices, working hands-on with Shell's local exploration teams to generate new play and prospect ideas and to suggest evaluation techniques and technologies to apply.</p>
<p>In 2010, he was appointed as extraordinary professor Regional and Petroleum Geology at the VU university of Amsterdam and in 2012 also at the University of Utrecht. He was visiting professor at the University of Malaya (Malaysia).</p>
<p>Through his own consultancy, as of 2010, he provides advice on exploration activities to several companies and is regularly invited to carry out technical reviews. Activities cover all continents and include Portfolio Reviews, Prospect assessment, Play-based Exploration, and Geothermal activities.</p>
<p>He conducts courses on several topics including Risk &amp; Volume Assessment, Prospect Maturation, Basin Analysis, Play-based Exploration, Trap &amp; Seal Analysis, Petroleum Geology for Non-geologists.</p>

During the period of time, he worked as a Field Engineer and Design Engineer, he was responsible for the operation, maintenance, diagnostics, and testing of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, motors, transformers, inverters, valves, pumps, compressors, instrumentation and control systems. Further, his responsibilities included designing, engineering, diagnosing equipment problems and recommending solutions to repair deficiencies and improve system performance, supervising engineers, setting up preventive maintenance programs, writing Operating and Design Manuals, and commissioning new equipment.</p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Later, he worked as the manager of a section dedicated to providing training for the staff at the power stations. The training provided by him covered in detail the various equipment and systems used in power stations.</p>

<p>The prospect maturation process, from a lead to a drillable prospect, is at the heart of the exploration business. This 5 full day course will cover all aspects of the prospect maturation process: play understanding in the context of regional geological understanding, detailed prospect evaluation; realistic risk &amp; volume assessment consistent with the play understanding and prospect details, and an introduction to exploration economics.</p>
<p>Throughout the course, there is a strong focus on pragmatic (geo)logical approach for assessing those aspects that are input parameters for a meaningful assessment of prospect risks and volumes, with emphasis on a balanced integration of contributions from different sub-surface disciplines. Many examples from basins from around the world are used to illustrate how traps, reservoirs, seals and charge occur in different basin settings.</p>
<p><strong>Specifics topics that will be discussed include the following:</strong></p>

<li>The statistical fundamentals for risk and volume assessment will be presented, with practical exercises for understanding the results of a risk &amp; volume assessment as they are displayed in expectation curves.</li>

<li>A full discussion of the essential requirements for a working petroleum system: Trap, reservoir, seal and charge.</li>
<li>Examples of how traps, reservoirs, seals and charge work in different basin types around the globe and in Australian basins.</li>

<li>Calculating volumes for groups of prospects; how to add risked prospect volumes for a statistically correct representation of the volume promise of a portfolio of prospects.</li>

<p>Your expert course leader has a PhD in Geology from the University of Utrecht. He worked for 31 years (1979 -2010) with Shell as an exploration geologist in a variety of functions across the globe. As Principle Technical Expert, he was responsible for ensuring that Risk &amp; Volume assessments were carried out consistently and correctly in all of Shell's exploration units.</p>
<p>In this capacity, he led and participated in countless prospect review sessions and developed and conducted a successful in-house course on Risks &amp; Volume assessment. As manager of the Exploration Excellence Team, he performed in depth analysis of basins and plays and provided advice on exploration opportunities to senior management. Together with his team, he visited most of Shell's exploration offices, working hands-on with Shell's local exploration teams to generate new play and prospect ideas and to suggest evaluation techniques and technologies to apply.</p>
<p>In 2010, he was appointed as extraordinary professor Regional and Petroleum Geology at the VU university of Amsterdam and in 2012 also at the University of Utrecht. He was visiting professor at the University of Malaya (Malaysia).</p>
<p>Through his own consultancy, as of 2010, he provides advice on exploration activities to several companies and is regularly invited to carry out technical reviews. Activities cover all continents and include Portfolio Reviews, Prospect assessment, Play-based Exploration, and Geothermal activities.</p>
<p>He conducts courses on several topics including Risk &amp; Volume Assessment, Prospect Maturation, Basin Analysis, Play-based Exploration, Trap &amp; Seal Analysis, Petroleum Geology for Non-geologists.</p>

<p>Hydrogen will play an increasingly critical role in the future of energy system as it moves forward to supplement and potentially replace fossil fuels in the long run. Offshore wind offers a clean and sustainable renewable resource for green hydrogen production. However, it can also be volatile and presents inherent risks that need to be managed. Even though offshore production of hydrogen has yet to achieve a high state of maturity, many current projects are already dealing with the conditions and effects of offshore production of hydrogen and are grappling with the technological requirements and necessary gas transportation with grid integration.</p>
<p>This 2 half-day Virtual Instructor Lead Training (VILT) course will examine the technological options for on-site production of hydrogen by electrolysis (onshore or offshore directly at the platform) as well as the transport of hydrogen (pipeline or ship). The application fields covered are renewable energy technologies, energy storage systems and power to gas with a strong focus on green hydrogen. From 2006 - 2007, he worked as a research analyst of the German Advisory Council on Global Change, WBGU, Berlin. He has extensive training experience from Bachelor and Master courses at different universities as well as in the context of international training activities - recently on hydrogen and PtX for partners in the MENA region and South America. He holds a University degree (Diploma) in Physics, University of Karlsruhe (KIT).</p>
<p><strong>Trainer 2:</strong></p>
<p><span>Your expert course leader is Deputy Head of Energy Storage Department at Fraunhofer IEE. Prior to this, he was the director of the Grid Integration Department at SMA Solar Technology AG, one of the world's largest manufacturers of PV power converters. Before joining SMA, he was manager of the Front Office System Planning at Amprion GmbH (formerly RWE TSO), one of the four German transmission system operators. He holds a Degree of Electrical Engineering from the University of Kassel, Germany. In 2003, he finished his Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) on the topic of wind power forecasting at the Institute of Solar Energy Supply Technology (now known as Fraunhofer IEE) in Kassel. In 2004, he started his career at RWE TSO with a main focus on wind power integration and congestion management. He</span> <span>is Chairman of the IEC SC 8A 'Grid Integration of Large-capacity Renewable Energy (RE) Generation' and has published several papers about grid integration of renewable energy source and forecasting systems on books, magazines, international conferences and workshops.</span></p>
<p><strong>Trainer 3:</strong></p>
<p><span>Your expert course leader is Deputy Director of the Energy Process Technology division and Head of the Renewable Gases and Bio Energy Department at Fraunhofer IEE. His work is mainly focused on the integration of renewable gases and bioenergy systems into the energy supply structures. He has been working in this field since more than 20 years. He is a university lecturer in national and international master courses. He is member of the scientific advisory council of the European Biogas Association, member of the steering committee of the Association for Technology and Structures in Agriculture, member of the International Advisory Committee (ISAC) of the European Biomass Conference and member of the scientific committees of national bioenergy conferences. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Darmstadt, Germany. He received his Doctoral degree on the topic of aerothermodynamics of gas turbine combustion chambers. He started his career in renewable energies in 2001, with the topic of biogas fired micro gas turbines.</span></p>

Her focus is on the calculation of electricity, hydrogen and derivative production costs (LCOE, LCOH, LCOA, etc) based on various methods of dynamic investment costing. She also supervises the development of models that simulate different PtX plant configurations to analyze the influence of different parameters on the cost of the final product, and to find the configuration that gives the lowest production cost. <p>Your expert course leader received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Geology from the now University of Louisiana-Lafayette in 1989 and 1990 respectively, and his Ph.D. as a National Science Foundation fellow at Baylor University, Waco, Texas, in 1993.</p>
<p>From 1994 - 1996, he studied planetary tectonics as a NASA-funded postdoctoral fellow at Southern Methodist University. In 1996, he returned to UL-Lafayette, where he was awarded in 1997 the Hensarling-Chapman Endowed Professorship in Geology. He began independent consulting activities in 1991, and in 2001, he left academia for full-time consulting for clients ranging from one-man shops to supermajors. He rejoined UL-Lafayette as an adjunct professor from 2011 - 2018.</p>
<p>He is an active researcher, receiving several million dollars in grants from federal, state, and industry sources, presenting numerous talks, including a 2019 AAPG Levorsen award, and publishing on a diversity of geoscience topics, including a Grover E. Murray Best Published Paper award in 2017. He is co-author of the inaugural GCAGS/GCSSEPM Transactions Best Student Paper award in 2018. He served as the GCAGS Publisher since 2006 and in various GCAGS/GCSSEPM Transactions editing capacities since 2006, including the 2014 and 2017 - 2022 Editor (named Permanent Transactions Editor in 2017), and Managing Editor since 2011, receiving a GCAGS Distinguished Service Award in 2018.</p>
<p>He served as the General Chair for GeoGulf 2020 (70th GCAGS/GCSSEPM Convention), the 1st hybrid geoscience conference in the world. <p>Seismic interpretation requires an understanding of structural development and its interrelation with the stratigraphic system. Bias and misunderstanding have unfortunately resulted in countless dry holes. So go beyond tracing horizons and understand their context within the structural system by extracting key information from seismic surveys and other datasets.</p>
<p>In this 5 full-day training course, participants will learn a variety of modern structural concepts and techniques and their role in the interpretation of seismic data. Using an applied 'hands-on' approach, participants will be exposed to a diversity of worldwide case examples with complementary exercises - both of an individual and group nature.</p>

<p>Your expert course leader received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Geology from the now University of Louisiana-Lafayette in 1989 and 1990 respectively, and his Ph.D. as a National Science Foundation fellow at Baylor University, Waco, Texas, in 1993.</p>
<p>From 1994 - 1996, he studied planetary tectonics as a NASA-funded postdoctoral fellow at Southern Methodist University. In 1996, he returned to UL-Lafayette, where he was awarded in 1997 the Hensarling-Chapman Endowed Professorship in Geology. He began independent consulting activities in 1991, and in 2001, he left academia for full-time consulting for clients ranging from one-man shops to supermajors. He rejoined UL-Lafayette as an adjunct professor from 2011 - 2018.</p>
<p>He is an active researcher, receiving several million dollars in grants from federal, state, and industry sources, presenting numerous talks, including a 2019 AAPG Levorsen award, and publishing on a diversity of geoscience topics, including a Grover E. Murray Best Published Paper award in 2017. He is co-author of the inaugural GCAGS/GCSSEPM Transactions Best Student Paper award in 2018. He served as the GCAGS Publisher since 2006 and in various GCAGS/GCSSEPM Transactions editing capacities since 2006, including the 2014 and 2017 - 2022 Editor (named Permanent Transactions Editor in 2017), and Managing Editor since 2011, receiving a GCAGS Distinguished Service Award in 2018.</p>
<p>He served as the General Chair for GeoGulf 2020 (70th GCAGS/GCSSEPM Convention), the 1st hybrid geoscience conference in the world.
