We are now part of the Leathersellers’ Federation of schools, a group of three secondary and two primary schools as well as Prendergast 6th Form. We are very fortunate to be part of the Federation and receive a lot of support from the Leathersellers’ Company, that helps our students succeed. We are very proud of our last Ofsted judgement of Outstanding in all areas, our third Outstanding judgement in a row. We are described in the most recent report as ‘exceptional’ and having ‘exemplary attitudes to learning’ across the school. We do achieve great academic results at Prendergast School (more information is on the website). However, as a parent or carer you also want to know that your child is happy and safe. This is very important to us and we pride ourselves that students feel confident in school and thrive under our care. It is important that when students leave after their time with us that they do so as well-rounded individuals who have had many different experiences, able to overcome challenges and most importantly to learn from their mistakes. It is important that students get involved in school life as much as possible. We have a wide range of extra-curricular activities and we do encourage all students to get involved. We expect all students to attend school journeys. Communication is very important to us. We always like to know what we do well and what we can improve on further. The Huddersfield Town Foundation was officially launched in July 2012 by then Huddersfield Town Chairman, Dean Hoyle. The launch of the Foundation created further initiatives to benefit young people across the Kirklees community, such as trips to the Play-Off Final games at Manchester United’s Old Trafford (May 2011) and Wembley Stadium (May 2012), with almost 2,000 children attending. These trips offered families a rare opportunity to create lasting memories and enjoy the game free of charge, with tickets and travel paid for through fundraising activities such as bike rides from Huddersfield to Wembley, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and ‘It’s a Knockout’. With a remit of improving the lives of young people across the region, the Town Foundation created the ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Club initiative to ensure that children started their learning day in school with a healthy and nutritious breakfast. The first breakfast club launched at Christchurch Academy in July 2012, with the charity harnessing the football club’s unique position within the community to pull together several charitable businesses to provide this at no cost to the children. The Foundation now proudly facilitates 41 Early Kick Off breakfast clubs across the region and has served well over two million breakfasts to local children. In April 2016, Julian Winter was appointed Chief Executive of Huddersfield Town. With a strong background in football club community operations, and after setting up community departments at Sheffield Wednesday and Watford, Julian was keen for HTAFC to have a strong and thriving community programme, which complimented the existing community offer. In December 2016, the Foundation’s Memorandum and Articles of Association were expanded to reflect a new focus on empowering ‘ONE CLUB ONE COMMUNITY’, irrespective of any protected characteristics. In addition to fundraising activities, the Foundation turned its focus to five key areas: Trust; Sport; Inclusion; Education and Health. In an unforgettable display, David Wagner led Huddersfield Town to victory in the 2017 Championship Play-Off Final and promotion to the Premier League. Working in collaboration with the Football Club, the Foundation has gained access to funding from the Premier League, which has dramatically changed the landscape of our reach within the local community. As demand has grown for products and services, so too has the staff body. The Foundation now employees over twenty staff. The staff team has since moved from working at hot desks dotted around the Club’s training ground, the Millers Oil High Performance Complex to our own office facility situated within Leeds Road Sports Complex. The Huddersfield Town Foundation now strives to use the power of the Football Club to engage, inspire and have a positive impact in our local community. We feel we can have the most impact in four key areas: Learning & Education, Health & Healthy Behaviours, Safe Spaces & Places and Movement & Activity.

We work mainly in Barking & Dagenham, and now across a lot of East London, offering a range of dedicated services aimed to support our service users, engage and enable the community. Thus, we strive to empower individuals of all ages and ethnicities to become valued members of society. About Us Excel Women’s Centre, CIC, is community hub that has an open door policy and provides services to all women, children and families residing in the London borough of Barking & Dagenham and surrounding boroughs. The centre offer help to vulnerable women and their families to fight discrimination demand their right and increase their self-esteem and confidence within our multicultural society. A brief history of Design Club 2021 2020 2019 2018 2017 2022 Slow start to the year after a pre-Christmas rise in Covid cases. With heavy (but hopeful) hearts, we made the decision to shift focus. Our new strategy is to create a curated directory of design tools for kids - products, projects and programmes that get kids doing design and design thinking. 2021 We're rebooting! Looking for Reboot Supporters to fund 2021/2022 activity. We've learned a lot from our first remote after school Design Club. And partnered with Multiverse and Future to reach new audiences, online and IRL. 2020 We started the year with new after school clubs in Coventry, Haslemere and Woking, and exciting plans for weekend clubs, but we had to hit pause due to Covid. We experimented with online delivery and invited parents to run design projects at home. Bright spots: Elsewhen ran a remote club and we got a bit of funding from Grant for the Web (which enabled us to think about how to reboot Design Club. 2019 We supported mentors to run 15 after school clubs, including the first Design Clubs outside London, in Blackpool and Dundee. You can Meet the mentors on our blog. Our weekend squad ran pop-up clubs at Science Museum, Kingston University and MozFest. Reached 500 children and had more than 800 people register an interest in mentoring. Started hosting peer-led Meetups and recognised our Super Mentors. Won funding from The Funding Network. And Growth Supporters helped us grow. 2018 We set up as a Community Interest Company in April. We're limited by guarantee, meaning all profits go back into growing Design Club. Founding supporters came on board. Reached more than 500 children through a mix of after school and weekend clubs. Ran our first mentor Meetups and got accepted as one of Makerversity's Makers with a Mission. Partnered with BMJ, WIRED and Token Dad to try new formats. 2017 We piloted our first after school Design Club. Reached over 150 children through a network of 50 volunteers. Partnered with Marvel and Moo to develop the learning experience. Partnered with CoderDojo and iOi to deliver weekend Design Clubs. Partnered with British Council to deliver Design Thinking mentor training. How Design Club is free We're a Community Interest Company limited by Guarantee This means we're a non-profit. We've raised some money through grants from The Funding Network, Mozilla and Grant for the Web. We're also backed by the design industry to inspire the next generation of design thinking. Dyslexia Care Foundation was established by Lola Oluwasuyi who has lived with Dyslexia throughout her life. Despite the difficulties of experiencing this condition firsthand, Lola has been hugely appreciative of the educational support that she has received over the years which has helped her to excel in her education, including successfully achieving her undergraduate degree. She is now studying for her Master’s degree. Lola’s experience demonstrates that with the right support, people with Dyslexia can thrive and reach the same academic heights as anybody else in life. That is why she established Dyslexia Care Foundation with the motto ‘Fair Learning Opportunities’ to provide support and guidance to others. Our work Working throughout the UK we are dedicated to providing a range of services to support people who have experience of Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD or Dyscalculia. Our main objective is to provide guidance on how to access quality educational opportunities and we offer assistance to people from the age of 7 onwards. In our experience what can be particularly difficult is for care givers and parents to know the best way to support someone who has Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD or Dyscalculia. This can also apply to educational establishments and employers as well, so that is where Dyslexia Care Foundation can help. We are here to provide advice, guidance and news on the latest developments, as well as to signpost to resources, education and training which has been proven to help those who experience Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD or Dyscalculia. Jenni Dunman is the winner of 2020 awards from Most Inspirational Woman In Franchise and Best franchise UK Jenni regularly features on TV, stage and on front pages of business magazines and newspapers. She has a shelf full of business awards and was in the top 100 UK female entrepreneurs list by F:entrepeneur as well as being a best selling author in the book ‘Inspirational Women Of The World’ “My life purpose is to save lives” Prior to creating her business Jenni was a police officer in London and experienced a vast number of real first aid emergencies including treating casualties at Edgware Road tube station during its bombing in 2005. In 2014 Jenni (a mum of 3) was sitting in a coffee shop chatting with a friend when her friend’s daughter choked, being an advanced first aider, Jenni knew just what to do. She quickly stepped in and successfully removed the blockage and the little girl recovered perfectly. It was this moment that she realised then that first aid was not something regularly offered to new parents and that so many parents didn’t have basic first aid skills that could so easily save their child’s life. When researching suitable first aid training classes she found that parents were restricted to longer certified classes aimed at the corporate market who often showed frightening videos and told distressing stories. Jenni felt she wanted to educate parents in a way that made them feel happy, confident and empowered rather than terrified and intimidated. Jenni has grown her business from table top to a being multi-award winning franchise with trainers running their own successful Daisy businesses UK wide. She is considered a paediatric first aid expert. She has featured in numerous publications, has a huge celebrity parents portfolio and volunteers her time at many national charity events. Jenni says “We train thousands of parents every year and when you get that call to say a parent saved their child’s life thanks to our class, that is the most unbelievably emotional feeling. We are all so passionate about the importance of first aid and absolutely love what we do.” Daisy First Aid offers fun and fear-free first aid courses designed specifically for parents and child carers. Having worked in social care since college, Able Hands Together Founder Laura Tween focussed her work on adults with learning disabilities. After completing her law degree it soon became apparent that the average office environment wasn’t the space for her. She became a social care consultant, and it was through this work that she found her creative energy and passion for community projects was highly suited to being a social entrepreneur. Whilst delivering social care, Laura found that most therapeutic activities for people, like cinema or bowling, were entirely non-skills building. Laura wanted to create an offering where they could learn new skills, build their independence and work on emotional well-being simultaneously. A therapeutic farm service ticked all these boxes. Able Hands Together was established in 2015. The role of the Co-Farmer was soon born, to assist with day to day farm work, building employability, interpersonal skills, independence, and self esteem. Both staff and Co-Farmers work together to care for the animals, & plan and maintain the smallholding to make the most of the growing season. We have just had the exciting news that Able Hands Together has been approved as an Alternative Education Centre by Wiltshire County Council for Co-Farmers aged 18 and over. Laura is immensely proud of Able Hands Together and welcomes you to get in touch. Jason Rhodes Jason Rhodes Director Jason is the Managing Director of Commercial Business at Nottingham Trent University. Jason brings a wealth of business knowledge and advice to Able Hands Together. Jake Tween Jake Tween Director Jake interprets Government Policies on Education to ensure that the advice given by Able Hands Together is of a high standard. He also serves as a great consultant when it comes to the boring paperworky stuff. Nicolette Ann Shears-White Team Member Nic has worked at Able Hands Together for a number of years now and is proud to have a close working relationship with all the Co-Farmers. Having previously been a social worker, Nic is well connected with Hampshire based learning disability professionals and is very knowledgeable about safeguarding and rights. She promotes our Co-Farmers’ independence and works with a skills based approach with our clients. Carl Anderson Carl Anderson Team Member Carl is an ex-member of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. He brings a wealth of skills-based services to the farm. If something needs to be built, Carl’s the man to do it! Our Co-Farmers love helping him to construct and build everything, from goat gates to raised vegetable beds. All staff that support our Co Farmers have DBS checks, are employed with their employment history and references checked. They are trained in safeguarding, Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity. Staff receive ongoing supervision and have access to further training.
