Crossover Basketball Association

crossover basketball association

Solihull

Regd. Charity No. 1190741 xoball exists to promote amateur basketball as a means to meeting the needs of individuals, enhancing their lives using education and physical training to consequently improve the communities that they live in. It was seen that basketball could do this for a number of reasons; these are illustrated in an All Party Parliamentary Group report into basketball in 2014, which states that “…there is no more efficient sporting vehicle than basketball to improve outcomes for individuals and communities…”. (link) xoball realises that building competitive basketball teams, and consequently trying to win games, is something that will encourage some of the new joiners to remain in the sport, and provide part of the base on which we grow the game, wherever we operate. However, xoball recognises that today’s society is increasingly complex. People’s liberties and development can be compromised by anxiety, isolation or the sheer amount of choices available to them. These can often be exacerbated by pressures such as social media, or the time and financial limitations on those who traditionally provided guidance. Coordinated, sustainable group activities are an effective tool to help individuals to cope with the demands of modern life. Therefore: continued participation will always take priority over winning matches. xoball takes pride in it’s values. The association will remain: transparent – make details of our activities available to our members, wherever it is not unreasonable to do so; dynamic – change our processes and structure if it will proportionately benefit the purposes of the association; outward looking – be highly hospitable to all those involved in the sport, and further our objectives by actively developing opportunities that become apparent, wherever and whenever that may be.

We Know The Right People Our recruitment process is specifically built to allow us to get to know our candidates and build relationships with them. Others might call this passive candidate recruiting, we think of it as proactive candidate recruiting. It allows us to take our time to understand the wants and needs of the people in our network. This results in strong matches for both our clients and candidates. Mission: Our Mission is to cultivate successful long term relationships by matching the right people with the right organizations. Vision: Our Vision is to build the strongest relationships with the people in our community, always serving their needs. Collaboration, Not Automation It has become an industry trend in the staffing world to cut corners by completely automating the recruiting process. At ICS we reject the notion of relying purely on technology to find the right people. We depend on personal interactions and relationship building to identify candidates. Once we get to know our candidates and understand their aspirations, skill-sets, and backgrounds, we connect them with the right businesses that are looking for highly skilled people to join their teams. At ICS, real people take the time to get to know the right people, making the process as simple as possible for everyone involved. Successful Long Term Relationships We apply the same rule to ourselves. We make it a point to recruit and retain not only skilled people, but the right people within our own walls. In addition to recruiting via our proprietary recruitment model for internal roles, we train our recruiters through a comprehensive initial corporate program, but also provide ongoing training and support throughout their careers.

Wild Atlantic Travel Co

wild atlantic travel co

Londonderry

My passion for travel started when I was 17, leaving home and going to the Irish traditional city of Galway on the beautiful west coast of Ireland to live and work. This journey has continued and never wavers to the current day. I’m always looking for the next adventure and to “step outside my comfort zone” I have taught English and lived in San Francisco, Sydney, Melbourne, Hungary, Spain and traveled extensively all over Asia and the Pacific. pexels-photo-1560932 Educational Tourism I currently work in Educational tourism and I’m the European Project Manager for Foyle International Ltd. I oversee Erasmus work-based internships from all over Europe. I also write large funding applications to give local people the opportunity to experience different cultures, learn new working ethics and enhance their employability skills. Through this experience, I’ve noticed that personal growth is as important as professional development and that travel and tourism can increase drive, motivation and learning. pexels-photo-1015568 Educational Background My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Business Management with Spanish. I sit on the UK board for ECVET (European Accreditation for Vocational Education and Training) and travel to different European destinations to discuss and devise methodologies to further enhance and improve Erasmus procedures and programmes. Ethos I believe that travel and experiential learning are paramount to one’s development. This includes tourism that focuses on history, culture, heritage, outdoor and therapeutic activities. Wild Atlantic learning recognises the value of travel but recognises our responsibility to implement provisions that are sustainable, Eco and combat our carbon footprint. “The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it”

Dance London

dance london

We do not compete or examine our dancers. It’s wonderful and refreshing to experience a non-competitive environment. When Ruth Anne Rogerson and her daughter Tammy founded Dance London in 1993, they wanted to create a studio that focuses on technical training and the love of dance. A place for everyone to be themselves and just enjoy dance. 25 years later, we are still following the same philosophy. When you take the competitiveness, awards, examinations, and medals out of dance, everyone can just be. Our dancers, parents and faculty don’t compete with one another— instead, they encourage and support each other. Everyone is equal and a part of our family. At Dance London, you become a part of a family that supports and encourages one another. Your child won’t feel left out or overshadowed by others, because no matter their age or skill level everyone is treated equally. Your child will be placed in the best class based on their skill level and age. All 6 – 17-year-old classes are based on skill level and age. This builds our dancers’ confidence by not feeling lost or behind in class. It also gives our high-level dancers the opportunity to keep progressing and not be held back in a class that is not challenging. By grouping dancers together that are in the same age range, they are able to connect and bond socially with their peers. We cap our class size. Instead of packing as many dancers as we can into our classes, we have a maximum number of dancers allowed per class. This allows our faculty to give enough one-on-one attention to each student.

Harry's Boxing Club

harry's boxing club

Harry's Boxing Club is a place anyone can go to get fit and improve their boxing abilities. Run by Harry Skelton, an ex-boxing coach in the British Army, we train in Berkhamsted. Our aim is for everyone to have fun and get involved in the sport! MEET THE COACH Whilst learning to box and coach in the British Army, I had the opportunity to work with a vast variety of men and women. All with similar goals of getting fit and learning a new skill. Whether the intention to compete was there, or whether they simply wanted the fitness, the ethos and values of boxing remained the same and are centered around hard work and effort being the path to achieving greatness. After a while, I was able to put the six-packs and glory aside, and witness the other ways that boxing and fitness was having an effect on people. I observed that when people had a focus and a way to physically exert themselves regularly, there was a massive increase in their mental health and wellbeing. Things that are so massively undervalued like getting a full nights sleep, or having the ‘get up and go’ motivation were the less obvious by-products of regular boxing training and in turn, the soldiers who came to train were much better for it. After leaving the army, I formed an adults boxing fitness club and again, started seeing the same results. The camaraderie of the classes, the family feel, the fitness and the achievement when you complete that next boxing or fitness milestone were leaving people with less stress, more focus and a general feeling of wellbeing.
