My background is in social justice work and capoeira Angola, the combination of which has taken me to complete a PhD in anthropology and to live for several years in Latin America. I came to yoga around 2007 in my early twenties, but it was when I was living in a particularly challenging context, as I accompanied human rights defenders in a favela in Rio de Janeiro, that I developed my own daily yoga and meditation practice. This sadhana (practice) became my inner refuge, and the fire for my resilience, as I witnessed and denounced the injustice experienced by those around me. I honestly felt I would not have been able to deal with some of the situations we experienced, without the inner equilibrium, peace and strength I was able to cultivate daily on my mat. It was this experience, and the desire to make yoga more accessible to many more of the people who could most use these tools for self-and community-care and resilience, that drew me to teach. Following this call, I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in 2017. In 2018 I participated in two transformative 100hr immersions with my dear friend and teacher, Bex Tyrer, at the Yoga Barn in Bali – Yoga Philosophy and You, and Body Image, Identity and Yoga, which had an emphasis on yoga activism and unwinding the feminine aspects of the practice.

Fitness and wellbeing to me is not only an occupation; it’s a huge part of my lifestyle and one of my biggest passions. At 23 years old, I retired from the world of dance after qualifying at world class competition level. From then, I moved into the fitness industry and qualified as an Aerobics instructor, taking classes with up to 100 participants. During that time, I qualified with the YMCA and the RSA (Royal Society of Arts). As well as Aerobics, I have taught a large selection of group classes including Step, Pilates, Yoga, Circuit Training, Boxercise and Kettle Bells to name a few. I have a wealth of experience in the fitness industry and have worked with people from all walks of life to help them achieve their desired goals. Originally from Glasgow, I moved to London and lived there for over 20 years. In London I worked as a Personal Trainer as well as a health and confidence coach and clinical hypnotherapist and trained/coached clients on a one-to-one basis from the comfort of their own home. In 2019, I finally moved back to Glasgow so I could spend more quality time with my loved ones. I am a friendly, courteous and straightforward man who is extremely passionate about helping people live a happier life. As well as seeing the best in people, I have a strong desire to see others succeed.

I AM YOGI is the story of wanting to build a yoga community. The company was co-founded by myself and Vittoria Manca. After practising yoga together for many years at various studios, we wanted to give it a go ourselves! In 2016, I decided to leave my career as a secondary school teacher and complete my yoga training in Goa, India. On returning, teaching in the local gym just wasn’t enough and the vision started to brew. The origins of I AM YOGI started in a space called ‘The Glasshouse’, which was essentially a conservatory on a pub car-park in Moseley. The weekly schedule started there. Wind the clock forward 18 months and the purpose-built wooden cabin that now stands in Moseley Park, was The Glasshouse re-envisioned. The cabin was constructed by a local carpenter and friend, Jim Jones along with many helping hands from parents, close friends, extended family and local stakeholders. Today, I have a dedicated team who work hard behind the scenes, from our CABIN CREW to our outstandingly dedicated TEACHING TEAM. The community that I AM YOGI serves and continues to create is special - and now even extends out into the virtual world since the pandemic! You can practice YOGA AT HOME with us from anywhere, anytime! The work we continue to do is for every yogi that continues to show up and practice with us.

Our names are Leah & Molly, we’re the founders of Little Turtles. Both of us have worked with children for 6 years+, both worked in a creche followed by both becoming childminders and how we actually met each other! We have a huge passion working with children and thoroughly enjoy our jobs as childminders. We both knew we wanted to work with children and build something of our own, after months of thinking and eventually planning, we created Little Turtles, parent, baby and toddler classes! We are both fully qualified in Early Childhood Care & Education Level 5, whilst Leah is currently studying her QQI Level 6 Childcare with Montessori. We are both fully qualified in First Aid & Fire Safety Training, Manual Handling, Food Safety and Children First with Tusla. We love working with children and find it such a rewarding job, working as a childminder and watching the children you work with grow and learn every day is amazing. So we want to put all our love, energy and passion into opening these classes for your children, we want to create a fun and friendly environment for you all! It became incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee on 28th October 2004 (Company Number: 05272761). It is a non-statutory body comprising representatives from higher education institutions and other related organisations in the United Kingdom. Objectives: To advance education, including training and research, in particular by: keeping under review the concerns of degree-awarding institutions within the United Kingdom in relation to collaborative activity identifying and promoting good practice in collaborative validation. The CVU defines ‘collaborative provision’ as the process whereby a degree-awarding body judges one or more programmes of study, courses, or modules offered by another body to be appropriate to lead to a qualification and/or credit of that degree awarding body.
