Liverpool Black History Research Group is a collective of community led researchers investigating and raising awareness of Liverpool’s long black presence. The important contribution of people of African descent to Liverpool’s development has gone largely unacknowledged and we are committed to revealing this forgotten history. We adopted the Sankofa bird as a part of our logo, substituting it for one of the two Liver birds, which top the iconic Liver building on Liverpool’s waterfront. The Liver bird is widely accepted as the emblem of Liverpool. The Sankofa is a mythical creature that flies forwards, while looking backwards, with an egg (symbolising the future) in its mouth. It is an Akan symbol of the people of modern day Ghana and is associated with a proverb ‘Sankofa w’onkyir’ which translates as “it is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten” The group is led by local historian and PhD student, Laurence Westgaph. Its purpose is to share historical knowledge and offer instruction in research skills and techniques, providing learning, training and employment opportunities for the people of Liverpool. Liverpool Black History Research Group is registered as a not for profit business, based at the Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre.

Rainbow Out of School Clubs offer safe, stimulating and above all fun environment for children aged 4 and 11 years. The play environment allows the children to be offered a selection of structured activities and play opportunities which take place both in and outdoors weather permitting e.g. art & craft, board games, construction activities, role play, clay modelling, home corner, pool table, kwik-cricket, ball games and much more. The children are free to choose activities. Play opportunities are risk assessed and evaluated to ensure that the safety of the children is balanced with the enjoyment and fun element. Qualified and experienced and police checked playworkers understand the importance of play and how this impacts on the individual development needs of children. Playworkers receive ongoing training to ensure the quality of care is paramount. I founded The Nurtured Woman, a private coaching and consulting practice that provides recovery coaching and mentoring support to survivors of narcissistic abuse to transform their lives. As part of my service, I provide Therapeutic Family Court Support to survivors. These services are borne out of personal experience of being married to a malignant narcissist, the abuse after escaping and a passion to help others in similar situations. As it turns out, narcissistic abuse is a global pandemic on it's own that affects many people of all races, age and gender regardless of religious or political beliefs, and educational or social status. My first B.Sc (Hons) degree was in Real Estate Management obtained from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. You will agree with me that that has nothing related to domestic abuse or narcissistic abuse..lol. Growing up, I have always had an interest and passion in helping people to become better versions of themselves. As the popular saying goes, 'experience is the best teacher'. Oh yes, my experience of narcissistic abuse propelled me to the most fulfilling career I could ever ask for.
