Since our founding, we have awarded over $8 million in scholarships and over $5 million in grants to universities and professional institutions impacting more than 60,000 students through our programs. We have taken actionable measures to foster a diverse pipeline of talent into the industry. The Spencer Educational Foundation believes diversity, equity, and inclusion in the risk management and insurance industry is a business imperative that only makes us stronger. Redesigned our scholarship application so that applicants can self-select their race/ethnicity and gender identity, in order to track (and measure) who exactly is receiving our scholarships. Changed our scholarship application review process so that all identifying information (name, demographics) is not visible during scoring, to avoid interference from unconscious bias to the extent possible. Enabled the creation of 43 new diversity scholarships (8 with the NYC Association of Insurance Women, 8 with Arch Insurance, 3 with the Latin American Association of Insurance Agencies (LAAIA), 6 with Argo Group, 2 with Beecher Carlson, 3 with Beckage, 2 with Hylant, 2 with AF Group, 2 with Travelers, 5 with Allied World Assurance Company, and 2 with Liberty Mutual), specifically earmarking funds to be awarded to students who identify with a historically underrepresented group. This funding represents a deliberate investment of over $180,000 in diverse talent. Reaching out to MSIs and HBCUs to inform them of our Course Development grant and other opportunities, to foster the creation of risk management classes and programs at more educational institutions that serve historically underrepresented groups. Working with other corporate partners and industry groups to sponsor diversity scholarships and course development grants at Minority-Serving Institutions. Awarded Course Development Grants to 2 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to develop and launch their first RMI course on campus: University of the District of Columbia and Fisk University. Awarded Risk Manager on Campus Grants to 2 HBCUs: Johnson C. Smith University and Lincoln University. Awarded grants to foster a diverse talent pipeline, including support for: the National African American Insurance Association’s Talent Development Competition; Appalachian State University’s D&I in RMI Initiative; Indiana State University’s Recruitment and Career Awareness Diversity Program; Howard University's 2022 FIRM Symposium; and others. Funded RMI curriculum development and experiential learning opportunities at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) including Northern Arizona University, Cal State University Fullerton, Cal State University Northridge, Mercy College, and University of Houston Downton. Students are often tempted to (only) make summaries and re-read or highlight textbooks, with the misleading idea that this improves their study results. Based on the available evidence, these study techniques are rated as being low utility learning (Dulonsky et al. 2013). At AthenaStudies, we are constantly analysing the most recent studies and assess student needs in order to find the most effective study methods to ensure the highest grades. It is proven that the most effective study method is retrieving the information out of the brain, instead of putting information into the brain. Spitzer et al. (1939) found that students who did one extra practice test scored about 10-15% better on their exam that students who did not. A more recent study from Butler et al. (2010) suggest an even bigger difference, with an estimated 30%. Hence, practice is key. Karpicke & Blunt (2011) takes this idea one step further and found that a group of students who read a topic four times scored less than students who practiced with the topic only once. The minimum age to start learning to drive in the UK is seventeen. You will also need a Provisional Driver's Licence. There are two ways to apply for this. How Many Driving Lessons Will I Need? The Department of Transport carried out a survey of thousands of people who passed their practical test over a seven year period and published their findings in 2008. The average was 47 hours of driving lessons, with an average of 20 further hours practising with friends or relatives. Atlas recommend that your driving lessons are two hours long. If you intend to practice with a family member or friend please make sure that you are both aware of the law. When Do You Want Your Lessons To Take Place? At Atlas we're flexible: you decide when you would like to learn. We do recommend that you have your driving lessons at different times of day and also both during the week and at weekends. Road Safety Charity Brake highlighted 2015 data from the DVLA and DfT which showed that, whilst new drivers from 17-19 made up only 1.5% of those licenced to drive in the UK, this age group was responsible (i.e. they were the driver) for 9% of accidents that involved serious injury or death. There are two main reasons: over-confidence and risk taking (including speeding); poor assessment of hazards. Be a Safer, Better Driver with Pass Plus To help new drivers the DVSA has developed the 'Pass Plus' training programme. There is no official test; instead, the assessment takes the form of five to six hours extra tuition covering: Town driving Busy high streets, especially at rush hour, present many challenges. Bad weather driving Rain and poor light increase the danger from hazards. Countryside driving Roads can be narrow, twisting and poorly surfaced. Night driving Things look very different at night. Driving as it becomes dark and the light changes every ten minutes can be challenging too. Dual carriageway driving More challenging than motorways in many regards, not least because you sometimes have to exit right across oncoming traffic. Motorway driving We also offer our own additional lessons specifically for this (see below). Pass Plus: What You Gain Pass Plus lessons with assessment are designed to help you gain quality experience behind the wheel, develop a positive driving style, and hopefully reduce the risk of you having an accident. On successful completion of the course you are issued with a certificate that entitles you to a discount on your insurance premium - as much as 50%, depending on your insurer. Motorway Driving Lessons Almost all new drivers feel most nervous at the prospect of driving on the motorway. Yet, once you become familiar with them, motorways are far less stressful places to be in charge of a car than your average high street! You are travelling at high speed, but everyone is going in the same direction and there are no pedestrians or parked vehicles to worry about. Atlas' motorway lessons are specially designed for newly qualified drivers. We will give you the confidence to go on the motorway on your own by giving you in-depth tuition on: using slip roads to get on and off the motorway; reading signs and reacting in good time; understanding junctions; driving at a constant high speed; and overtaking and changing lane.

Southampton Coalporters A.R.C. was founded in 1875 and as such is the oldest and most established rowing club within the city of Southampton. The club has been successfully competing every year since its foundation. Coalporters itself takes its name from the rowers who transported coal to visiting ships on the River Itchen. These workers formed the club in which they could participate using their skills in competition against anyone else who would race against them. In 1884 the club scratched together a crew of 18 to race and beat a previously undefeated racing crew of 14 from the visiting American Navy. The race was set over a five mile course for stakes of sixty dollars . The crew imbalance was more than compensated for by the fact that the Americans could race their own specially designed racing boat, whilst Coalporters had to race in a disused service cutter from the condemned stores in Portsmouth Dockyard. The Americans asked for a rematch for higher stakes for which Coalporters took up the challenge and again went on to win. Soon after Coalporters were challenged by the "Portsmouth Shovelers" which laid the foundations for the more conventional river and coastal rowing competitions of today. The club has progressively grown in stature over the years to become a well renowned and respected club throughout the rowing circuit both locally and nationally. We have been on our present site beside Northam Bridge for over 40 years. The latest addition to the club was completed in 2005, extending the building further towards the water to increase the size of the training / gym area and also extending the back of the club to incorporate a club / committee room. The refurbishment also included the rebuilding of the changing rooms and the installation of new racking in the boat house. In 2019 Coalporters embarked on a new era to develop the club for the future. New storage and club refurbishment is now being planned, the first phase starts with conversion of the Northam Arch project. This will provide more boat storage space for members and our rowing crews.

Karen is a Suffolk based Dance Artist specialising in contemporary and community dance. She trained at Roehampton University where she gained a BA (hons) in Dance Studies. Karen went on to complete a PGCE at University Campus Suffolk in 2014 and has worked in a range of educational settings in Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. She is currently teaching her own classes Stow Movers and Hadleigh Movers, movement classes for 55+ years, and her youth company Karen Louise Youth Dance which all run weekly. Alongside regular delivery, Karen has taught on many exciting projects including: –Big Dance 2016 (in conjunction with Akram Khan & People Dancing) -Big Dance Workshops 2016 (in conjunction with Anna Rowe Dance) -7 Schools 1 Town 2017 (DanceEast & Gecko Theatre) -The Inkwell 2017 including Arts Award (DanceEast) -KLD & Yodanga Arts Summer School 2018 & 2019 -Hadleigh Hullabaloo 2019 (DanceEast) –Dance From Home 2020 – Present (DanceEast) -Tell Your Story Project 2022 (ICEP & St Pancras Primary School) -Jubilant! 2022 (The Food Museum, Mendlesham Primary School & John Peel Centre) In 2018 Karen worked as Producer for Ipswich Choral Society on a large-scale community project commemorating WW1; Ipswich Remembers. She continues to enjoy these Producer roles and has produced several KLD projects in 2020. Most recently Karen works for Dance Network Association in Essex as their Dance Development Officer. She runs and delivers on programmes such as their Youth Company, Dancing with Dementia, RE:Generation Colchester and their Dancing with Parkinson’s classes. Karen was part of the 17/18 cohort for Overture, a professional development opportunity with ReBourne. She was 1 of 16 UK Dance Artists that took part in four residential weekends. She has also recently completed a Dementia Care Mapping course through Bradford Universirty supported by DanceEast, and also was a part of the Emerging Leaders programme with National Centre for Writing. Karen is also a keen performer, and has been a member of Kinetica Dance Collective (formerly Dance Unlimited), a performance group in Suffolk, for seven years now, and performs regularly in East Anglia.

A brainchild of Finn and Toffy, we’re a contemporary, socio-aware group of performers/producers who fuse circus arts with collaborative imagination (Toffy and Finn’s peerless chemistry) to create versatile, fully immersive, and visually enriching performance arts experiences for the world’s audiences. We entangle our audiences, up-close and personal, drawing them into a world where they live only for the present glorious moments. We live in complex times, an era in history poised to stretch the thirst for unflinchingly humanity-driven art to its full elastic limits. In our bold bid to provide answers, one common thread you’re odds-on to spot throughout our circus art performances is that human connectedness — or rootedness (if you will) — within communities that we celebrate. The sheer vitality we inspire and the spellbinding fabric of fragility we weave our audience into — all by the intricately knitted universe of the circus. Without question, the circus, for us, is never just about a ‘13-meter-diameter’ or ‘42-foot ring’ mastery. That would be just scratching the surface. At its heart, the circus has always incorporated a fusion of skill and soul—clusters upon clusters of exceptional human skills and artful mobility to tickle the human fancy. What sets us apart, though, is how we bring these human elements together. The spatial (on stage) and social (offstage) recognition we take to new heights to gratify, entertain, and inspire collective progress as humans. Ultimately, we’re becoming part of a more robust movement with the loftiest calling in the circus performance arts, and indeed, any other art form worth its earthly significance — to redefine the boundaries of what reflects the deepest needs of the modern-day, contemporary audience.
