Born in St.Ives in Cornwall in a flat on the Fore St, a stone's throw from the ocean, Daniel worked in theatre, film and TV for 10 years, most notably at the ground-breaking Citizens Theatre in Glasgow. In July 2002 he created Theatre of Wine with Jonathan Warren, David Simmonds and a lot of helpers. The name came about through the fusion of two loves - theatre and wine - embodied in antiquity in a single entity, the god Dionysus. The shops are a stage for our wines, and at our weekly tastings we let these characters interact and reveal their personalities. While the team has changed, the philosophy is the same: to give a stage to wines that have something interesting to say.

We offer the highest grade of musical education, from teaching staff who are not only talented musicians in their own right, but also trained to teach, regularly monitored and who undergo ongoing professional development training at Yamaha HQ. We provide each student with a one hour, group lesson on the instrument of choice, once per week for 44 weeks of the year, or provide students learning individually with a half hour lesson, once per week/fortnight for 44/22 weeks of the year. We ensure that all our staff have enhanced DBS (CRB) clearance. Certification is available to view outside our studios. We offer an optional, accredited examination syllabus, with examinations taking place on site 2/3 times per annum. We facilitate learning with state of the art instruments in clean, comfortable, designated studios. We encourage every student with merits for practice and Certificates and Prizes for collecting merits. We offer a clean, comfortable waiting room for students and parents alike. We offer eight weeks holiday every year and display a full school calendar on our website, as well as in school. We provide, by email, lesson notes to any student who is unable to attend his/her usual class, for whatever reason. We have built an amazing resource for our students using an online learning portal. This means that if you were to miss a lesson it will be available to watch and practice with on catch-up as we stream every single lesson (live) to the portal. That means you can practice all year round and should you be unable to make it to the school for the time of your lesson, you can simply dial in from home!

The Rose Arts London was always a childhood dream of mine and it was manifested through a pain in my life, with the loss of my Grandad; Charles Alexander Gardner. He, alongside my Mother and Nan, supported me with my dance and drama training, performance career and attended all classes, auditions and performances. When he passed away, it pushed me to embrace my artistry and passions. The Rose represents three things: A dedication to my Grandad; His favourite flower A name influence; My middle name Rosetta and my mother Rosemarie The flourish of each child who trains with us. As a seed they begin but as ‘The Rose’ they grow. Experience My training began at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and have been training in every discipline, since the age of 3 and teaching dance and drama since the age of 14. Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Liturgical, Street Dance, Jazz, Commercial and Musical Theatre. Further to this, I attended college studied Performing Arts, obtaining distinctions in the art form, allowing me to receive an unconditional offer to University, where I obtained my degree in Dance Practice and Performance. I have had an extensive career in the arts, through stage, film and television and have received such amazing opportunities I am truly grateful for. About T.R.A.L. T.R.A.L. is a place for all Rose Students to discover, train, explore, create, challenge and motivate what they learn here and to ignite their passion, of why dance, drama, sport and song is such an amazing artistic outlet, which not only teaches creativity and utilises talent but also discipline. The role of the arts builds character and self-esteem and at The Rose Arts London, one of the assets that I hold as an important part, is the family friendly atmosphere.This delivers a guarantee from us, that our space is a positive and productive learning environment, where our students can grow, most importantly learn, and create in an energetic, confident building atmosphere. Students are able to discover more about themselves artistically, gain new friends and be proud to be a part of The Rose Arts. Myself and our teachers, who have work(ed) within the industry, aim to continually make The Rose Arts London a success, with the passion we hold and with which, our goal is to impart our experiences, knowledge and love of the arts to our students. I have been blessed to be able to open a school, attended by such passionate students, to be able to witness how they will develop in years to come. I first became interested in Kung Fu after watching the 1970s TV show “Kung Fu” with David Carradine, and the 1973 Bruce Lee film “Enter the Dragon”. I was blown away by Bruce Lee as I had never seen anything like that before. It also coincided with an incident when I was set upon on my way home from work one day. It was a very frightening experience, and I had no idea how to defend myself. I decided to learn a Martial Art and over the course of the next few years I tried Judo, Kwai Tai Chi Do, Wado-Ryu Karate, Shotokai Karate, Phor Kune Kung Fu, and Taekwondo. I enjoyed them all but there was something missing. I discovered that the katas and the forms were not realistic when it came to sparring. I realised this when one day I had a sparring session with a Chinese friend of mine who had learned Wing Chun in Hong Kong and he beat me. That experience made me realise that it was Wing Chun that I wanted to learn.

Here you will have the opportunity to study diverse medieval and Renaissance weapon styles, including longsword, sword and buckler, dussack, messer, rapier and dagger, in a safe, friendly and completely inclusive environment. LLA will help you find and exceed your limits, teaching you a martial art honed and made perfect through Europe’s many centuries of warfare. SIMPLE YET SOPHISTICATED Every technique shown is the simplest answer for the threat given, and the most effective way to attack and cover in one motion. What at first appears to be more complex, you will soon learn is the simplest way to deal with a more complex threat. POWERFUL BODY MECHANICS Applicable to most armed and unarmed martial arts. This art will teach you to fight using your entire body, maximising your power and honing your instinctive responses. LOGIC AND GEOMETRY At the LLA we use a simple four step training method. Each technique is based on logic and the demands of the situation, rather than clever or showy moves; it just happens that some techniques look damned good. The method breaks down each set of techniques into four steps, each student only progressing to the next part of the technique when they have mastered the first. This means that as a beginner you can train with more advanced practitioners straight away and never feel left behind, while allowing you to advance at your own pace. Variations in the four steps allow for overlaps and cross- referencing of responses and pressures, thus building your understanding and repertoire of combat simply and quickly. INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY One thing we are at pains to point out at the LLA is the multi-cultural nature of these arts. Manuals such as I.33 & Paulus Hector Mair’s Fechbuch (amongst many others), show women and men, white and black training together and it is also known that several masters of these arts were Jewish. This diversity is part of our art and history; we feel it should be a proud part of its future. LLA has a zero-tolerance policy for discriminatory behaviour or hate speech amongst its students, and aims to be a safe and welcoming space for all.
