I am passionate about resilience and helping people understand how important resilience is in our lives. I studied with some of the leading international experts working to promote resilience. For the last 5 years I have been actively promoting resilience with individuals, families, organisations and communities. I had spent many years working in the field of positive psychology and therapy and it was here in Barcelona that I discovered the world of resilience and was lucky enough to attend the first post graduate course in the Promotion of Resilience at the University of Barcelona. This allowed me to meet and learn from leading figures in Resilience work in Europe and Latin America and the most generous teachers. I also studied a postgraduate diploma in mental health and migration. Moving around can bring opportunity but also challenges. I have lived in many countries and met a lot of diverse and truly inspiring people in different cultures and languages. Living an international life can feel like an amazing adventure but also comes with its challenges and I have worked with many individuals and families over the years helping them to find their feet again. Life experience, literature, music and films have always fed my resilience work but I have been studying and researching along the way to back up my instincts with analysis and ideas based on theory and practice. David Simon is an author and educationalist. He is the author of the Genius series that includes the best-selling books How to Unlock Your Child’s Genius and How to Unlock Your Genius Using Black History. He co-founded Simon Education in 1987 which has gone on to support over 6000 African-Caribbean families in the UK. He has won numerous awards as an educationalist and a novelist/poet, including the Peterloo Poetry Award. He is also the founder of Black Book Festival, an annual event to promote Black writers globally. David’s other publications includes: Secrets of the Sapodilla (1986), the play Mountaintop (1987) which was nominated for the London Fringe Awards, the novels Garvey’s Last Soldier (1999) and Pastor Pastor (2019). The company currently runs a publishing house, an online school and provides teacher-training to schools in Africa and the Caribbean. Leonora Simon-Bleasdille has worked as a scientist for over 35 years and taught students at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. She co-founded Ebony Supplementary Saturday School, now Simon Education, where I taught English, mathematics, science, and Black history for over 35 years. Nneb Akpom-Simon has worked in supplementary education for 30 years; tutoring and coaching children, young people and parents. She is also an equalities specialist and has worked in Higher education for over three decades. Simon Education (Ebony Education Community Interest Company) is a registered company.

In 2012 Anita founded The Positive Parenting Project, a social enterprise which aims to bring the benefits of proven evidence-based parenting strategies to as many parents (and children) as possible. Anita started her career in international development, spending four and a half years in Mongolia where she went through both of her pregnancies. (Her eldest son learnt to say ‘mummy’ in Mongolian before he said it in English!). Anita also spent time in Hungary and Kazakhstan. Anita has studied developmental psychology (child development) to postgraduate level and is an accredited Triple P® parenting coach. A leading UK parenting expert, she speaks at events across the country and delivers parenting seminars, webinars and one-to-one support. She is regularly featured as a parenting expert on TV and radio. Fascinated by children and how they develop, Anita has a talent for helping parents view their children and their own parenting strategies from different angles. She is adamant that there is no such thing as a perfect parent and says her ambition with her own children is simply not to make the same mistakes too often. After becoming a single parent, Anita changed careers. She worked as a strategic manager in a local authority children’s services for nine years, setting up and managing early intervention, targeted and specialist family support services including Sure Start Children’s Centres, parent support lines, teenage pregnancy prevention projects and intensive family support.

Since its inception in 1977, Playpen has come a long way to be transformed into one of the leading English Medium Schools of Bangladesh. Playpen was founded by the prominent Educationalist Mrs. Zeba Khan. Although it saw a humble beginning as a Kindergarten School in 1997 – by 1998, however it had expanded Classes upto Primary Level and then went on to be transformed into High School also. In 2003, Playpen sent its first candidate to appear for the Ordinary Level Examination. Commendably, the Candidate obtained straight “A” grades in all the seven subjects he had taken and appeared for. Advanced Level Classes were introduced in the year 2013 by the School’s Honourable Chairman, Mr. A Mannan Khan. The first Batch of A’ Level Students enrolled from Playpen was in the year 2015. The establishment of Playpen’s permanent Campus was also initiated by our Honourable Chairman Mr. A Mannan Khan. This was like a dream come true. Playpen was designed by the renowned Architect Mr. Ehsan Khan. The state of the art and lucrative 10 storied building, with so many breathing spaces, caught the eyes of all. Apart from having large Classrooms, spacious corridors, hallways and many other facilities, the building has a unique and breathtaking look. Mrs. Sorabon Tohura, the Principal shifted Playpen to its own campus in Bashundhara Residential Area on the 19th July 2018. With her sincere dedication and drive, Playpen continues its journey of 44 long years.
