344 DANCE SCHOOL is based at DANCE STATION, Alexandra Park, Fishponds, a building comprising 3 fully equipped dance studios, a lecture and music room, changing rooms, rest areas, a studio theatre and a Dancewear shop - KATHY'S DANCEWEAR. Our lessons also operate in rented premises in 8 branches covering the Bristol area:- Church House, Long Ashton The Village Hall, Emersons Green Holy Trinity Church, Bradley Stoke The Batch, Warmley 467c Wells Road, Knowle The Village Hall, Wickwar Children and adults can learn for fun or they can take advantage of the many opportunities offered to them including exams with the ISTD, RAD, LAMDA and LCM; shows; competitions; workshops and masterclasses; summer schools and many other performance opportunities. All our exams are held at our own premises as we are an Approved Exam Centre for all the above examining boards. Whether you dance at Dance Station or one of our branches, the school has a positive, fun, atmosphere to bring out the love of dance and help you get the most out of your lessons. Dance is a performing art and with our beautiful studios and theatres, performance opportunities can be developed to the full. STUDIOS are also available for hire at both our Fishponds and Knowle Branches. Howard was born in Hull in 1946 and began training under Chee Soo in 1973. He has been an instructor of Tai Chi Chuan and Feng Shou Kung Fu since 1976 and is the holder of 7th Tengchi Master Graded in both Tai Chi and Feng Shou (Kung Fu) and 3rd Tengchi in Chi Shu. He lives with his wife, artist Gisela, in Holme On Spalding Moor, East Yorkshire. Howard’s early fascination for these arts soon grew into a life-time vocation, realizing that they went beyond a purely physical discipline, but was also a tool for self-development, spiritual growth, and a way of helping himself and others to achieve holistic health and well-being. Extremely proficient in the Feng Shou self defence arts, Howard nevertheless felt a special love for the various forms, K’ai Men and Dao Yin. In fact he is famous for being Chee Soo’s only instructor who practised the Tai Chi form every morning, with the exception of Christmas Day, for 15 years! (And he is still practising with an odd exception, on a daily basis! Chee Soo had hundreds, perhaps thousands of students who entered his training halls through the years, but in the end there were only four in the country who stayed long enough to gain the highest Master Grade Chee Soo issued in his life time. One of those students was Howard, respected by his peers as the foremost authority on the Lee Family Tai Chi form. Howard’s and Chee Soo’s friendship was legendary and it is a privilege for those who today train under Howard to be shown an art so ancient, taught as he was taught, undiluted by fads and fashions, imbued with love, enthusiasm, precision and quality. Chee Soo passed away in 1994. In order to safeguard the continuation of the Arts and their philosophy, Howard founded the East-West Taoist Association in 1999. A bespoke twelve-week resilience and anger management programme, for your school. Sessions can be devised to meet your cohort requirements. Our programme supports Y5 & Y6, students who form part of your ‘hard to reach’ cohort, who without preventative intervention may struggle with transition into Y7 and may become at risk of permanent exclusion. Our programme can be tailored for Y7 students to support them further, post transition. Furthermore, we can adapt our programme to engage with vulnerable students who are low in confidence, self esteem and social skills. Week 1 is an introduction to the course to students. Weeks 2 -11 is; A one-hour period of Taekwondo, teaching students the importance of self-discipline and respect, whilst improving self-esteem, confidence and team working skills. A one-hour classroom-based session covering: mental health; mindfulness; sleep hygiene; relaxation & calming techniques; health and well-being; resilience and positive mental attitude. We can also deliver lessons exploring how to be a model citizen, and how to avoid becoming drawn into contemporary youth crime such as: anti-social behaviour; bullying; truancy; knife crime; gangs and substance misuse. We will also deliver lessons covering; parent abuse; internet safety; personal safety; child sexual exploitation (if the school deems appropriate); crime & consequences; and domestic violence. Chantal has always had a keen interest in dogs having worked in boarding kennels, a dog rescue centre and a large dog training and behaviour centre in Surrey before setting up her own company. Qualifications: BSc. (Hons) in Psychology COAPE Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling, therefore a member of the COAPE Association of Pet Behaviourists and Trainers Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (MAPDT 1068) Member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) Scentwork UK trainer Chantal is also a trainer for Dog AID (Assistance In Disability), Registered Charity Number 1098619, a national voluntary organisation which provides specialised training for people with physical disabilities who wish to train their own pet dog, some up to Assistance Level. Chantal offers dog training and puppy training in Dorking, Ewell, Leatherhead and many other locations in Greater London and Surrey. It is a discipline that is constantly adapting and to keep up to date with new methods and techniques, Chantal regularly attends lectures and seminars by internationally renowned dog trainers and behaviourists such as Ken Ramirez, Emily Larlham and Kay Laurence. Chantal currently owns four dogs, a Border Collie and three Shelties. Chantal has competed at Olympia, won at Crufts, and has represented Team England in the World Agility Open and Team GB at the FCI Agility World Championships. She has also recently qualified to compete at IFCS with one of her Shelties.
