Discover your subject from a truly interdisciplinary perspective with the Graduate School for Interdisciplinary Studies. Interdisciplinary study Graduate School degrees use ideas from different disciplines to give students a more rounded understanding of their subject. Learning across subject boundaries Interdisciplinary learning is at the heart of the Graduate School. Core modules on Graduate School degrees use themed seminars led by subject experts from across the University. Students consider their subject from different disciplinary perspectives, developing an interdisciplinary understanding. This approach also enables students to show skills such as flexibility and creativity. Optional modules allow students to further develop the interdisciplinary character of their studies. In the end of degree project students explore a topic in depth. The project can also be interdisciplinary in scope and may have an applied character. On most degrees, students have a choice in how to present the project. This might be as a dissertation or in more applied format - such as a policy report or multi-media portfolio. Academic and personal skills Graduate School Masters degrees help students develop advanced subject knowledge and research skills. Students also develop skills in: critical thinking and creativity analysis and appraisal problem solving and decision making personal leadership and project management interpersonal communication and team working Core modules have an integrated skills development programme. The skills development programme connects academic learning with the development of professional skills. The skills development programme has three parts. Study support sessions prepare students for postgraduate study. Career support sessions help students look beyond their degree. Experiential sessions address real social justice problems faced by partner organisations. Community The Graduate School is a vibrant, stimulating postgraduate community. Graduate School events bring students together and help foster interdisciplinary identity. Students make social and intellectual connections within and across their Masters degree groups. St Leonard's Postgraduate College The University postgraduate community, St Leonard’s Postgraduate College, welcomes Graduate School students. St Leonard's Postgraduate College hosts networking and training events for all postgraduates. Through these Graduate School students can make connections with postgraduates from other schools. Postgraduate Society St Leonard’s Postgraduate College works closely with the Postgraduate Society. The Postgraduate Society is one of the Students’ Association's most active societies. All Masters students are welcome into the Postgraduate Society. The Postgraduate Society organises events for postgraduates. These include beach bonfires, day trips around Scotland, pub nights, and graduation balls. History and location The Graduate School for Interdisciplinary Studies welcomed its first students in 2018. The Graduate School now welcomes students from around the world. In 2020 more than 90 students joined Graduate School MSc and MLitt degrees. Since 2021, the Graduate School has been based in the Old Burgh School. The Old Burgh School has office, teaching, and study space for the Graduate School. It is also home to the University’s postgraduate study centre. Graduate School Meeting Room The Graduate School Meeting Room situated at the Old Burgh School is available to be booked by staff and postgraduate students Monday-Friday between 9am-6pm. The room has a capacity of 6 (current covid occupancy) and is equipped with a projector and screen. There is kitchen facilities directly adjacent. Staff can book directly via our online room booking system. For student room bookings, please email gradschool@st-andrews.ac.uk. Priority will be given to bookings related to Graduate School or Postgraduate St Leonards College activities. Please note, this room should not be booked by students as an additional study space.

GOOD STUDIO is a risograph print and design studio based in Brixton obsessed with all things print related and RISO particular. Risograph printing has a unique aesthetic invented in 80s Japan as a duplicator for schools and offices, it mimics the screen printing process using brightly coloured eco friendly soy based inks.  GOOD STUDIO was set up by artist Joanna Brinton in 2018 with the intention of promoting conversation and exchange via Riso printing. The studio host regular open access workshops and introductory sessions to introduce others to this fascinating process.  Joanna has a BA Fine Art Degree from Central St Martins College and a Masters in Book Arts from Camberwell College of Arts and over twenty years of practice in printmaking and book design.

At University Centre Leeds we offer a range of Higher Education qualifications which include: Foundation, top-up and bachelor's degrees PGCEs and Masters HNC/Ds Higher Technical qualifications Nationally recognised higher and degree apprenticeships Foundation Degrees are well respected qualifications in their own right and develop specific expertise relevant to a particular sector of industry. This includes key transferable skills such as learning skills, management of self, communication skills, ICT and numeracy skills, academic writing skills etc. Foundation Degrees are flexible qualifications and are designed to meet the need of employers for highly skilled, work-ready personnel. The qualifications are similar to Higher National Diplomas, but with added emphasis on work-based learning. Unless a course states otherwise, Foundation Degrees generally last two years (full time) though some courses offer a part time study option – please see individual course entries for further details. You can be confident that our courses are industry relevant and current, written in consultation with employers and key industry partners. Students spend the first two years to attain a Foundation Degree, and then have the option to top up their qualification to gain a full honours degree, either with us at University Centre Leeds or at an alternative institution.

Autism Partnership was established in 2000 to provide a comprehensive service to families and professionals caring for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders throughout the UK and the rest of the world. Our method is progressive Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), based on an established and systematic research-based strategy, which has been scientifically proven to be the most effective intervention for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism Partnership are a non-profit company led by our site director, Zahira Ali, who holds a Masters in Neuroscience and is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). Zahira has worked with children with ASD using ABA since 1998, and consults with families and schools in the UK and worldwide. As an organisation, we operate three therapy centres, located in Leeds and London, providing one-to-one instructional sessions, group sessions, and training workshops. We also provide consultation and training to schools and other agencies in the UK and across the globe. Our UK team consists of more than 20 staff, who all benefit from ongoing training and the expertise of our in-house consultants and supervisors. Our UK team is further supported by our US directors, Dr John McEachin and Dr Ron Leaf, who have more than 40 years of experience in autism intervention and are considered to be leading authorities in the field.

Just a two-minute walk away from Moorfields train station, Prelude offers a prime city-centre location for music lessons. Inclusive. All our lessons are tailored to your indiviudal needs - regardless of age, ability, or whether or not you have played before. Many of our students are differently abled, and we also cater to many students in the LGBTQ+ community. Supportive. The school aims to encourage not only outstanding learning and practice techniques in our students, but also provides the opportunity to perform, which is an integral part of learning how to play and present music, which builds confidence and shows progress. Highly Qualified. Our teachers hold a total of over thirty years experience between them, with most of them holding degrees at Masters level in either music or teaching. Multi-Disciplined. Currently we offer Singing, Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Woodwind and Music Theory lessons on a one-to-one basis, but we hope to expand to workshops and master classes in the future.

Eloise Schoeman is Fine Artist specializing in realist painting. Born in Bristol, United Kingdom but has lived in South Africa from 2008 until recently. She studied Fine Arts at Tshwane University of Technology where she was mentored by the renowned Dr Jan van der Merwe. After completing her degree Eloise relocated to Plymouth, United Kingdom to complete her Masters in Painting at the Arts University Plymouth. From the beginning, Eloise has seen a clear link between her photography and painting, the one not being complete without the other. In her practice, she starts by taking photographs of scenes or moments that feel familiar to her and then through the editing process she manipulates the images into compositions. Her final stage of editing a photograph is painting the work, in this way she dissects the colours, tones and details, considering where to put emphasis or lack thereof. She creates her artworks on large scale canvas using acrylic which allows her to create works fast and not overanalyze her instinctive decisions. The scale of the artworks is purposeful; Eloise wants her paintings to be immersive.

I am a nutritionist with a Masters in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Nottingham. I currently offer 1:1 consultations as well as corporate wellbeing workshops. My specialist interests are women’s health, male and female fertility, diabetes, gestational diabetes and obesity. Before I retrained in nutrition, I worked in advertising. The breakneck speed of agency world took its toll on my physical and mental health, and I realised I needed to make some changes. I know first-hand how hard it is to break the habits of a lifetime and start out down a new, unfamiliar path. I also know how rewarding it can be to feel (and see) a transformation in yourself and to know that you can control your health. This is why I take time to support each client as they make their first steps. I want everyone to understand how the right food can improve your health. I am a keen [GREEDY] cook so I love to give my clients practical support to change their diet and lifestyle.
