Our School was built in 1876 and serves the local community of Dalry in the West of Edinburgh. We are a non-denominational, co-educational Primary School. Our main school hosts pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 7, and we currently are organised into eleven classes. We have a busy Nursery Class, which offers only full time places. From its origins in 1992, when the local housing association at that time allocated a tenement house to a group of residents who were keen to participate in the arts, Drumchapel Arts Workshop, (DRAW) has continued to hold a valued and valuable place in the local and wider community. Since those early days many developments and positive partnerships have evolved, and from our milestone achievement of obtaining charitable status in 2010, our recently established venue on the ground floor of a block of high rise flats offers an informal workplace in which those from the local community and beyond can express their creative potential. Originally DRAW was encouraged to seek funding through Urban Aid, and we are currently funded through GCC from an Integrated Grant Fund. Over the years a dedicated committee has worked to ensure a wide variety of interesting and successful programmes and projects are available to participants. The many statutory organisations and agencies with whom we have worked, including the NHS, occupational therapists, Momentum, Right Track and Careers Scotland continue to help us to open access to the arts and to widen the horizons of those who participate in the project. The sense of wellbeing, confidence and social integration which evolves from appreciating and sharing our cultural wealth is frequently acknowledged by our participants and we welcome and enjoy a diverse clientele.

B-inspired Training & Consultants are based in the North West of England. Our training and consultancy services are provided by a range of qualified, experienced specialist practitioners. Our ARC model has previously been accredited by BILD since 2017, and more recently achieved Restraint Reduction Network Approved Certification status through the British Institute of Learning Disabilities – Association of Certified Training (BILD ACT) in March 2020, therefore fully complying with the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards 2020. Our aim is to offer personalised support to each learner to develop confidence and competence in their role, enabling them to empower the people they support in a positive way. We promote positive attitudes and values that are consistent with ‘social inclusion’ and Positive Behavioural Support Principles (PBSP). B-inspired aims to support staff working in Health & Social Care and Educational settings to develop skills and knowledge in relation to supporting children and adults who have complex support needs associated with Learning Disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Condition, Dementia, Acquired Brain Injury and Mental Health. B-Inspired offers learners and their employers the support and reassurance necessary to protect themselves in a safe and appropriate manner in the workplace. We encourage learners and their employers to evaluate challenging situations with consideration to ethical and legal frameworks. Our training places a strong emphasis on Positive Behaviour Support and the principles of ‘proactive support’, ‘least restrictive’, and ‘last resort’ strategies.

At Challenge Dyslexia we understand first hand the difficulties and frustrations parents of a dyslexic child face when navigating the educational process. The method of teaching utilised at Challenge Dyslexia follows the ‘Dyslexia Action Literacy Programme’ (DALP) This programme is highly effective and successful in providing targeted specific dyslexia tuition and is delivered in 1-1/ small groups. Lessons are formulated based on the findings of an evaluation carried out within the initial placement sessions. The lessons follow a tailored structured plan of learning points which are delivered through a combination of exercises, activities and games which aim to build and reinforce each learning point. Our aim at Challenge Dyslexia is to engage students by making learning fun with all sessions designed to promote relational learning. The lessons follow a learner led cumulative approach, which is built upon session by session. Due to the negative experiences some students may have previously experienced within the classroom, a major element built into the construct of the lessons is the promotion of learner independence, self efficacy and self confidence, which aim to increase motivation and attitude to learning. In addition to being dyslexia specialists we also have experience and training in a range of therapeutic interventions, so are qualified to address and help break down barriers to learning from this perspective.

His experience now extends across different markets and sectors, working directly with clients and through communication and event management companies and creative agencies He regularly works closely with his friend and business colleague, Nadine Dereza at PS Programmes, specialising in providing a refreshing approach to media training, for those who want to build their confidence and adeptness in acting as a spokesperson for their organisation Ross lives in Oxfordshire with his family, next to the Chilterns, where he enjoys walking, cycling, running, and is involved with his boys' football clubs. He is also Chair of the local Scouts Group An extraordinary network He has travelled extensively working with many different cultures and environments. He works with an extraordinary network of facilitators, including, artists, graphic illustrators, foreign language speakers and learning and development specialists with a diverse range of expertise and qualifications. Games and activities Ross is also the designer of conference and workshop based activities and games. These are highly inclusive and engaging. Ross believes that people learn most when they’re having fun, and if you’ve ever witnessed such an atmosphere, then you’ll know exactly what he means!
