Haverstock Fencing Club was formed in 1995 by a committee of epee fencers from London clubs who wanted to establish a centre of excellence in North London. They quickly managed to gain a reputation on two levels, namely as a place for elite fencers to train for the competition circuit, and secondly as a friendly but professional environment for children and adults to learn how to fence. The evidence of their success speaks for itself. Haverstock fencers have a fearsome reputation on the competition circuit, with many current and former national champions training there, male and female. Haverstock has been the dominant force in British epee fencing almost since it was established. Indeed, when top fencers arrive in London from abroad, Haverstock is normally their first port of call. More importantly, Haverstock has always seen itself as a progressive club, open to all, with a particular emphasis on children and the local community. Beginners courses are often oversubscribed and many of those that went through the early courses are now well regarded on the senior circuit. Haverstock coaches take great pride in the ability of their young protégés, and the club has also catered for disabled fencers. Costs are kept low to ensure the sport is open to all. The club has two full-time coaches (with World and European Championship experience) and two part-time coaches, who take care of all newcomers, giving them a solid grounding in the basic skills required, teaching in a fun but challenging way. Haverstock is one of the best equipped clubs in the country, with plenty of kit for beginners to use for free while they decide whether the sport is for them. Training takes place three nights a week, with a mix of group lessons, individual lessons and fitness work to cater for all levels. We also run popular training camps and weekend courses. The Chairman and committee are dedicated to continuing to cater for both the elite competitors who have so enhanced the reputation of the club as well as newcomers to the sport, along with the many children and adults who are now “hooked” on fencing, having had their introduction to it at Haverstock.

The KTX Kickboxing system was founded by Mark Lock and Simon Bailey and was authorised by 9th Degree Grand Master Anton St James in 2015. The system was created in order to combine skill sets from various different disciplines in order to establish a unique and versatile fighting art. The “K” in KTX stands for Kali – which originated from the Philippines. kali often refers to the empty hand techniques of the Filipino weapons based systems. It focuses on the destruction of hands and limbs and works on the principle of “de-fanging the snake”, that is, to destroy or take away your opponents weapon. Whether a bladed weapon, impact weapon, a fist, or a kick, it doesn’t matter, kali’s core objective is take away the weapon through destruction techniques in order to gain entry to the vulnerable parts of the body. The “T” in KTX refers to Thai boxing, or Muay Thai. Muay Thai originates from Thailand and is one of the most popular striking martial arts in the world to date. Also known as the “art of 8 limbs”, Muay Thai utilises the whole body as a weapon. Punches, kicks, elbows, knees, Muay Thai’s fundamental striking skills are some of the strongest and deadliest techniques around which in turn highly compliments the Kali side to the programme. Both these martial arts are combined into a Kickboxing structure. Kickboxing was established in America in the early 70’s. It derives from full contact karate and utilises the punches from boxing with the versatile kicks of karate. Kickboxing is a freestyle fighting art and at its core lies lightning fast kicks, speedy footwork, and quick combinations. Both the Kali and Thai elements are blended into this free style structure in order to create a unique blend of striking skills. The KTX Kickboxing system offers both the Filipino empty hand and the powerful striking skills from Muay Thai and Kickboxing, forming a striking system that is functional, diverse, and adaptable. Whether your goals are fitness, street defence, or competition the KTX programme has it all. Working off a freestyle pad work structure the KTX system will teach you a multiple of techniques and skills, hundreds of combinations and will take your martial skills to the next level. The benefits of training in this system: Increased levels of fitness Build strength and power Get into shape fast Learn to defend yourself Reduce stress Improve flexibility Confidence Meet new people Learn amazing skills Improved self discipline and focus Competition It’s super fun

If you want to get stronger, more flexible, learn some cool new tricks and become part of an amazing gymnastics community, then you've come to the right place. Jaybee was established 18 years ago by Julie Ewenson who had always had an interest in gymnastics. With her 2 daughters training at elite level Julie decided to begin to build a club and a gym family for recreational gymnasts. Her aim was to get more children involved in fun gymnastics. She began in a small hall with 3 classes a week,. 18 years later Jaybee are one of the most successful clubs in the area with an incredibly strong elite team, 10 floor and vault squads, 4 pre-school classes and almost 20 recreational sessions throughout the week. We offer before and after school clubs to many of the schools within the borough of Havering which have been going for well over 20 years! At Jaybee we offer 1 hour recreational classes throughout the week and over the weekend where gymnasts are able to learn skills on apparatus such as floor, vault, bars, beam and trampette. We are also lucky enough to have an air track at both venues where all of our gymnasts get to bounce and learn to tumble. Our gymnasts are invited to take part in our annual in-house competition which is always fun, friendly, well organised and encourages light hearted competition. At Jaybee we pride ourselves on a friendly and fun environment for our gymnasts. If you would like to begin your gymnastics journey then feel free to get in touch and we can assist you in finding the perfect class for you.
