We follow the structured examination syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance and pupils are entered for examinations from Pre Primary to Advanced 2 level. However exams are not compulsory, importance is placed on enjoyment and appreciation of dance as a physical and expressive activity and art form. Body conditioning is incorporated into all classes from Grade 1 to Advanced 2 level. Contemporary Dance is also offered and considered an important part of the training of a classical dancer. The new Rambert Grades training program was introduced in 2020. Pupils are accepted into the school from 3 years of age and all are invited to take part in the school’s own production which is held approximately every two years at the Nottingham Playhouse. A former member of the RAD committee for the Midlands and East of England region and awarded life membership of the RAD in 2020 after 42 years of membership. School of Birmingham Royal Ballet, and then completed her training at Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance, BA (Hons) followed by Rambert MA. Professional work includes Ballet Theatre UK, Ampersandance, Royal Shakespeare Company and Medea with English National Opera at the London Coliseum. Former ballet coach at the National Ice Arena and dance teacher at NCN, Susie now also teaches for dance schools based in London and Watford. Hackney Fine Arts mission Our mission is to teach people of all ages and backgrounds how to make fantastic art from learning the essential artistic skills of drawing and painting from observation regardless of their experience or abilities. Anyone can learn them from any age, regardless of their experience, as creating great pictures requires learning and developing techniques. Once the techniques are learnt on a basic level, we continue to progress our students in each new project they embark on. We harness their skill development, encourage and support each student on their own artistic journeys to fulfil their unique artistic potential. The results will leave you amazed of what can be achieved. We deliver term time and holiday classes for children and teenagers and morning, evening and weekend courses for adults. We use the traditional methods of copying from masters and photographs as our learning resources. Each is carefully chosen to suit our student's level and teach a topic while placing focus on different drawing and painting techniques. Amongst others, our topics include: animals, landscapes, portraits, abstract and still lives. We are passionate about helping our students to develop confidence, focus, creative and analytical thinking. Engaging in creative process has a holistic power to improve wellbeing for all students, including those experiencing mental health difficulties. I am a fifty-five year old German citizen, who moved to England to study Buddhist philosophy eighteen years ago. My home is in Thornby, a small village between Leicester and Northampton. Due to increasing requests tuition became my main occupation in 2013. I began tutoring during my chemistry study, from which I attained a Masters of Science in Chemistry (first class degree) and a PhD in Biochemistry (first class degree). One of my pupils was a medical student, who did not like chemistry. He tried to memorise all chemical formulae for his exam. After the basic rules were explained he was able to derive equations without much effort. Later he said „I did not know chemistry was so easy“. With each new client I begin with a thorough assessment: What kind of person he or she is, what basic knowledge is present and what are the main problem areas? Then a tutoring plan is suggested to reach the goal in a reasonable time frame. My emphasis lies on building up a solid foundation of knowledge and the skills to apply it. LESSONS Lessons are individually tailored to the needs of the student and designed to be entertaining yet challenging. Their interview style keeps the tutee focused and engaged. Examples of daily life are incorporated and comparisons drawn with situations from sport and hobbies. Sometimes we even do small chemistry experiments (don’t worry parents – only harmless ones – the kitchen will not blow up!).
