This obsession lead me to go on a deep journey of self-healing and self-discovery, as if I went to uni for 5 years and came out with top marks ready for my career - to serve others with the highest intention and most importantly, to actually feel good, confident and empowered.

DMAC UK was established by dance, drum and percussion and martial arts teachers to provide a creative artist forum for artistic movement. We have always strived to build a definitive variety into the classes available to our participants and also to provide a home for diversity-in-the-arts, so particularly looking to support dance styles from outside the UK – looking to support dance styles from outside the UK – African Dance, Cuban Salsa, Brazilian Dance and Capoeira, Bollywood Dance and so on. It’s been an amazing ten years, difficult but definitely amazing. Every week at DMAC’s InAlignment Studios saw around thirty regular dance classes, but it was the shows that really drove home what an amazing project it is, and the kind of energy that can be created from having these performers and teachers under one roof. That’s why the idea of a Collective is so strong for us from the outset. The idea that by working together we could create mutual benefit and create a really sensational social enterprise.

After suffering from my own health issues, I sought to treat myself as naturally as possible, beginning my journey into a holistic approach to lifestyle wellness management. Reiki was my stepping stone, and continues to be the foundation and underpinning of all my holistic work. This led me to want to help others in the same way, providing them with the overwhelming benefits that a holistic lifestyle can bring. Having worked in the industry for a number of years now, I am fully qualified to NVQ level 3 , VTCT standard, insured, and registered with the Federation of Holistic Therapists, and the Association of Professional Therapists and Lecturers With a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years in the health, beauty and fitness industry, I have an in-depth knowledge on the capability of the body and all it can accomplish if given the correct tools. So many health problems can be overcome or eased through holistic therapies, ensuring our quality of life is greatly enhanced. I am now trained in many different energy modalities and holistic therapies, and weave all of these into my work. Whether you are in need of simple relaxation or deeper healing, I offer a treatment that will suit any requirement, and training that will allow you to empower yourself to follow your own healing journey. I like to think I sit nicely balanced between the “woowoo” and the grounded!

Tom also has lots of useful videos online which help with tackling more difficult techniques or situations. He built my confidence by giving me clear instruction on how to improve my driving. He used different techniques to show what to do. Tom made everything easy by booking my initial test and then finding me a cancellation because he thought I was ready to take my test earlier. The concept of Toast & Tea came when I was due to go back to work as a Deputy Headteacher full-time after having my second son. Finding enough space in breakfast and after-school clubs was proving difficult. There is a high population of working parents in the Winchester area; enough to create long waiting lists for wraparound care. I saw a real opportunity to alleviate the pressures for working parents by opening up a new breakfast and after-school club provision. Starting Toast & Tea meant I could continue to work in education, which I’d done for the last 15 years, and care for children away from the pressures of assessments and results faced by schools. My boys come to Toast & Tea too, so I have the bonus of having them at work with me a lot of the time!

Over the years many people have been involved with and assisted ICBP, so this change has been a difficult decision and it is important for us not to lose the ethics and work that has been given so freely. We are taking this step in order to consolidate our knowledge and expertise, reduce our workload and costs and look forwards to slightly different and exciting conservation tasks ahead. Like many businesses the toll of the last two years has been huge, and we feel we must take steps to ensure the future of our charity and its work. This is by no means the end of ICBP, and we are excited to share our next steps with all our supporters. However, these steps will be as a private charitable conservation facility and no longer as a public collection.
