Welcome to the School of Education's website, where you can read about our comprehensive programme of world-leading research, outstanding initial teacher education, and innovative taught courses. The School of Education has a long history of both teacher education and adult education that stretches back over 100 years. We are located on the award-winning Jubilee Campus and enjoy strong partnerships with many schools and other organisations locally, nationally and internationally. As well as training 300 new teachers each year in the UK, we run an innovative PGCEi course in over 15 countries. In the latest Research Excellence Framework, the vast majority of our outputs were assessed as internationally excellent, with over half given the highest possible score of 4*. We have a longstanding relationship with UNESCO, several large-scale European projects, and strong connections to US funders, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Much of the school's research portfolio is aimed at having a real impact upon learners, organisations and educational systems. As part of our commitment to research excellence, the school has a thriving doctoral research community of students from around the world. The school has a broad programme of postgraduate taught courses, largely focused on professional learning. One distinctive strand of our postgraduate programme is professional counselling education which emphasises humanistic and person-centred approaches. The school is also home to the Centre for English Language Education (CELE), which offers innovative presessional academic English courses to enable applicants to reach the required level of academic English to start their degree course. CELE also offers academic language and communication skills courses and consultations to students whilst studying their degree. Our staff are experts in their fields and members of the school's staff have been awarded student nominated Lord Dearing awards for the quality of their teaching. Christmas and New Year bin collections ⚠ Please be aware that we will not be collecting any bins during the week following Christmas. For Christmas week (20 to 23 December) we will be collecting your green-lidded recycling bin and brown food waste caddy. All collections will take place on your normal day. We will not be collecting any bins in the week following Christmas (27 to 30 December). Your collections will then return to normal from Tuesday 3 January 2023 when we will be collecting your grey-lidded waste bin and brown food waste caddy. Extra recycling If you have extra recycling, you can leave it beside your green-lidded bin for collection. Green-lidded bins will be collected in the week starting on Monday 9 January. Please put your recycling in white or clear bags, or cardboard boxes. We cannot collect any recycling if it is in black bags. Collection days 20 December to 23 December We will be collecting your green-lidded recycling bin and brown food waste caddy. Your bins will be collected on your normal collection day. INSPIRATION FOUNDATION Home Contact The Inspiration Foundation educates, inspires and provides opportunities for teens and families to find hope and peace amid the chaos originating from mental health issues. Drugs Over Dinner will re-launch in 2022. Our goal is simple, inspire 100,000 individuals to sit down together in 2022 to discuss and share about the healing benefits of psychedelic medicine. The Drugs Over Dinner experience is an awareness campaign, a transformative participatory experience and an education and integration model. The initiative will grow exponentially in 2023 and 2024, helping to prepare clinicians and the pubic for the new era. Plan Your Dinner “We are such a fast-food culture, I love the idea of making the dinner last for hours. These are the conversations that will help us to evolve.” – Arianna Huffington In 2015 Drugs Over Dinner launched an initiative focused on inspiring open conversations about addiction. We inspired over 10,000 dinners in a single year and launched a National Night of Conversation with the Surgeon General Vivek Murphy, Dr. Oz, Dr. Gabor Mate, Arianna Huffington, Rob Lowe, Allison Janney and many others

Officially opened in February 2023, The Movement Bothy is a semi-permanent tent structure providing shelter from the elements and allowing movement activities to be delivered all year around to children and young people.  The Movement Bothy is a development, which will grow over time to become a space to inspire and develop movement for all members and participants.  A home for movement education, freespirit sports and fun in North East Scotland.    Situated at Woodend, Banchory, Aberdeenshire, AB31 5QA, The Movement Bothy offers a range of activities including Regular Classes, Holiday Camps and Birthday Parties all designed to be specific to the age of the participants.

After 3 years of creating escapes for so many lovely folks, we find ourselves in a position where we need to escape ourselves for a short time. Due to personal circumstances, we are taking at least a 3-month sabbatical from January. Though we very much hope to be back in the farmhouse kitchen in Spring, we are not in a position to schedule any workshops at this point in time. We will announce our future plans via our newsletter – when we know what they are! If you haven’t done so already, please do feel free to subscribe below. Alternatively, do contact us with any queries and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Private events will definitely form a part of our calendar next year and we’ll be more than happy to talk to you about creating a special day of culinary fun for you and your friends, family or colleagues – just drop us a line. Joanne is Head of Strategic Asset Management at Moat Homes and was successfully appointed to our Board in November. Joanne has over 20 years’ experience working in the Housing Sector and specialises in Asset Management. She has experience with delivering challenging projects and ensuring buildings are fit for the future. At Moat, Joanne leads on delivering their Asset Management Strategy and zero carbon targets. She thrives in creative innovation projects and as a Board member wants to help develop these strategies at SEC. This appointment coincides with an exciting time for us as we look forwards to the future and build on our service offering. Our Board will assist in carving out our strategy for 2023 and beyond!
