I create women business experts worldwide, inspire them to lead, and empower them to speak on stage. I’m honoured to be an award-winning entrepreneur and industry-leading business coach, having received recognition such as: 2013 Relationship Coach of the Year – Association for Professional Coaches, Trainers, and Consultants (APCTC) Bestselling Author – contributing author to “Coach Wisdom” Founder of Social Media Marketing Events Founder of Women In Business Events International Speaker; has spoken at business and professional conferences throughout the UK, Dubai and in the U.S. and other international markets But the most important recognition to me is the fulfillment and meaning that comes from making a positive difference in my clients lives, and building a stronger community for all of us as entrepreneurs and business leaders. More about me… I have extensive experience as a coach, consultant, social media marketing expert, and entrepreneur. I am passionate about personal and professional development and helping people get more out of life; I believe in the power of education and personal development to inspire people to make transformations in their lives. I’ve seen it happen for so many people, again and again! After several years of successful experience as a professional speaker, I realised that there was a problem in our industry. Too many speaker line-up sat industry events and conferences were all men. There were not very many women being featured to speak on stage. I knew that this was a massive problem. After all, I have worked with so many talented, amazing women who are entrepreneurs and experts and business leaders; why were there not more opportunities for women to speak on stage and be recognised as in-demand business experts? That’s why I decided to start my Des O’Connor Women In Business (WIB) events. I launched my first Women In Business event in London in September 2017, with the goal of inspiring women to become business experts, build brands, deliver value to their clients, and sell their expertise to a global audience. In the years since, I have put more than 150 people on stage at my events (many of them women, many first-time speakers) and I have helped create a more expansive community for women in business (and men too). I also provide business consulting for business experts, entrepreneurs, professional speakers, coaches, and companies that need help with social media marketing, digital marketing, webinar marketing, website development, online lead generation, and more. My clients include: Business Experts: Are you looking start a business for the first time, or build the brand of your existing business? Do you have expertise in a particular field that you’d like to learn how to make into a viable business model? I can work with you to launch your business and help you make money with your unique expertise. Professional Speakers: I empower business experts to speak on stage at my packed-out live events! Whether you are a first-time speaker, or if you already are speaking on stage as part of your business marketing or business model, I can help you get better quality speaking opportunities – including international speaking opportunities. Coaches and Corporate Trainers: I have extensive experience as a coach and professional/personal development expert. I work with some of the best coaches in the industry to help them get better clients, expand their audiences, build their brand, and get paid while they sleep with digital information products (CDs, MP3s, MP4 videos, webinars, etc.) that they can sell worldwide from their website. Authors: Do you want to write a book as part of your business and brand? I can help connect you with publishing resources, book marketing, social media marketing to boost the audience for your book, and I also produce packed-out live Book Launch events for authors. I don’t just put people on stage, I provide comprehensive marketing and brand strategy consulting to help my clients maximise their success on every level. Digital Marketing and Sales Funnels: I help my clients turn their websites into sales machines. There are lots of web designers in the world and you can often get websites designed very cheaply, but unfortunately most web designers do not understand how to systemise your clients’ journeys. I help you create a focused website marketing strategy with built-in sales funnels and CRM (customer relationship management) tools, so that you can generate a conversation with your prospective clients, lead them to sign up for further communications and a deeper relationship, and even better, to inspire your clients to order your products and services. High Quality Lead Generation and Networking: I advise and help my clients (with a variety of packages of services) on how to form their message, improve clarity of their brand and value proposition, and promote them to my extensive network of contacts to drive leads to them and take these new business leads on a journey to build relationships and increase rapport so that you can easily convert them into paying clients. Des O’Connor Shoes: I am passionate about personal and professional development. My entire career has focused on helping people to learn, get inspired, get motivated, and get better at various aspects of their professional and personal lives. So that’s why I’m excited to launch my new line of shoes, Des O’Connor Shoes. These are the world’s first shoes that empower women to improve all aspects of their personal and professional lives.

Berwick uponTweed

After graduating with a BA(Hons) Fine Art at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, London in 1988, I returned home to Northumberland to work as a photographic artist and silversmith. In 1994 I trained to teach whilst continuing on my own creative journey. I started experimenting with the many processes in the making of felt in 2005. I fell in love with its versatility, being able to paint with a varied palette of dyed wools, create something delicate and ephemeral using fine wools and silks, or use more sculptural techniques to form vessels. In 2008 I was introduced to the many varieties of coloured willows grown locally for basketry and the traditional techniques used to work with them. It excited me and I started using these to create vessels and sculptural forms. In 2011 I set up Biteabout Arts with the intention of creating unique items for sale and delivering a variety of art and craft workshops. We have been renovating the buildings at our smallholding to provide a working environment and somewhere to deliver workshops. Biteabout Farm is a North Northumbrian smallholding consisting of over 7 acres of permanent pasture. It was formally known as Coalshank (sited near to Biteabout Colliery) and also The Red Lion Inn ...'a troublesome little pub' until the 1940s. Badly neglected in more recent years, we took it on in 2002 and started its transformation. With far more work needed than initially anticipated, renovation is still ongoing, but nearing completion. I am now working in my studio and have a program of workshops on offer here. Sculptures are made to commission. Drawing on their creative expertise of materials, processes, 3D form and design, a working partnership between Anna Turnbull and Richard Charters. Working together, they explore the creative possibilities of your idea. The creative process takes time. It starts with collaboration through drawing, discussion and exploration of materials. An animated armature is created in mild steel by Richard, the bones. Anna weaves the flesh, emphasising its muscles and flow, its movement. It is the dialogue between them that brings the creations to life. Each sculpture is unique due to its individually made metal armature and the natural material of willow. Past pieces can be recreated, but each will have its own stance, character, life.

Woodhouse College is a popular and oversubscribed sixth form college in Barnet teaching A level courses to around 1500 students aged 16 –18 years, who join us from over 180 different schools across North London. They have done well at GCSE and aim to do likewise at A level. Almost all go on to university. The college acts as a bridge from school to university, giving students a chance to grow in confidence and to develop independent learning skills. All of our students study A levels. We offer a wide range of subjects, and students can study them in almost any combination. Each A level has five hours of lessons per week and along with the A levels taken students are expected to attend a tutorial programme to support them in acquiring the skills to thrive at university and beyond. In addition, we offer a number of super and extra curricular opportunities along with experiences of the work place. Woodhouse is one of the leading places to study A levels in London. Our consistently high performance in exam results backs this up. The government recognises us as one of a small number of colleges with both Beacon Status and Ofsted Outstanding status. Our A*–B pass rates consistently place us in the top five sixth form colleges nationally. The college boasts some of the best facilities in the area and promotes an extensive recreational and academic enrichment programme. At our heart is an impressive pastoral care system, and our tutorial, guidance and support systems help students steer a safe course through A levels and beyond. Our combination of expert teaching staff and an ambitious, supportive approach has proved very successful. We provide a happy, trusting and caring environment where students can challenge themselves and explore a whole range of opportunities. Woodhouse is as much about personal growth as it is about exam success. Our students are ambitious: they embrace the challenge to be the best they can be, both inside and outside the classroom.

Judo, which means "gentle way" is a martial art that was born in Japan, and it is now known around the world as an Olympic sport since 1964. Judo was established in 1882 by combining jujitsu, a form of wrestling, with mental discipline. It is the most widely-practiced martial art in the world, and the second-most practiced sport worldwide behind football SCORING Ippon is the best in that it results in immediate victory and can be achieved by throwing an opponent in such a way as to make then land on their back. Alternative methods of scoring ippon include trapping an opponent in an armhold or stranglehold to the extent that it forces them to submit or immobilising an opponent on the floor for at least 20 seconds. The next best score is a Waza-ari, which is a half point in that the award of two waza-ari in a bout is the same as ippon, and hence the winner is declared. Waza-ari is awarded for lesser throws than those scoring ippon, and for immobilising the opponent for less than the time required to score Ippon. Jigoro Kano From the twelfth to the nineteenth century Japan was ruled by the samurai, a class of professional soldiers. This provided fertile ground for various martial arts to develop. In addition to fighting with swords and bows and arrows, the samurai developed jujitsu to fight enemies at close quarters on the battlefield. Several different styles of jujitsu evolved, and hand-to-hand combat spread as an important form of military training. The era of samurai rule came to an end with the Meiji Restoration of 1868, and Western culture began filtering in into Japanese society. Jujitsu fell into decline, but the enthusiasm of one young man rescued it from extinction. That man was Jigoro Kano, the founder of judo as we know it today. Kano excelled in schoolwork but had an inferiority complex about his small physique. So he became an apprentice of Yanosuke Fukuda, a master of the Tenjin Shin’yo school of jujitsu, when he was 17 and worked to become stronger. In May 1882, when he was just 21 years old, he took the best things about each jujitsu style and created a single new school. This was the birth of modern Judo.

This not only gives participants a solid foundation in techniques and skills, should they wish to pursue a career in performance arts later on in life, but also develops team building, confidence and self-esteem which are all key to a child’s personal development and happiness – whatever they do in life. Because we are not a franchise, we can keep our fees affordable, and we will always work with parents to swop skills for fees so that our classes are accessible to all.
