CIPHER Medical was founded by co-owner Andy Thomas after he left the Royal Air Force in late 2015. The aim of CIPHER medical was to Deliver the highest standards of clinical care both to the event medical industry and to the National Health Service. The Governors are pleased to accept applications on behalf of young people for places in the first five years of the school (Years 7-11 of the National Curriculum). Vacancies do become available from time to time for a variety of reasons. However, there is rarely an immediate vacancy and therefore the names of applicants are placed on a waiting list. When a vacancy occurs, applicants are contacted and invited to attend a test. The vacant place will be offered to the candidate who demonstrates the ability and aptitude to allow them to be a success at the school. Parents of pupils who are unsuccessful may ask for their son/daughter to remain on the list to be considered for entry in the following academic year should a vacancy arise. Students will not automatically be left on the list and will be removed at the end of the academic year, unless a request is made to remain on the list. Students will be allowed only one attempt at the test in any given academic year to a maximum of two attempts in total. Please note that it is the parents’ responsibility to ensure all information is up to date including change of address and any changes should be communicated to Sarah Elder, Administrative Assistant, admin@crossleyheath.org.uk The school currently operates an option system at the end of year 8 and any decision to accept a student will be dependent on whether or not their curriculum needs can be appropriately met by the school. Teacher assessment levels in Maths, English and Science will also be taken into account. Applicants who sat the 11+ entrance exam and were successful, but were not allocated a place due to over subscription are placed on a waiting list and priority is given to these candidates in the event of a vacancy in the first term. After this time those who wish to still be considered must complete an application form and return to school. Great Denham Primary School and Pre-School is situated at the heart of the Great Denham Community and conveniently situated for Bedford town and road links to the M1 and A1. Great Denham village is a new and growing community with facilities including a Nursery, Sainsbury's Local, independent retail outlets and The new Village Hall which opened in 2016. Our school opened in September 2012 with just 100 pupils, we have now grown to over 560 pupils in 2022! We are now a three-form entry primary school in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 and two form in Year 4,5 and 6. We also have a Nursery class for children from the September after their third birthday. When our pupils leave us at the end of Year 6 they transfer to one of many local secondary schools including Biddenham Secondary School and Lincroft Academy. Great Denham Primary School opened its doors for the first time in September 2012 with just over 100 children and 15 staff. In 2022 we now have over 580 children and 100 staff! The school had a 7 classroom extension in 2018 and we are now taking 90 children in each year group up to Year 4. Eventually, we will have 650 children with 3 classes in each year group. Many of the original staff remain at the school including the Headteacher and one of the Deputy Headteachers. Our Family Groups When children leave our early years they join one of our four family groups which they will remain in until they leave GDPS in Year 6. Each family group wears their own coloured polo shirt and there are regular opportunities throughout the term for children to learn, play and compete in their family group. Each family has a head boy and girl who are elected by the rest of their family. The head boys and girls are children from Year 6. The idea of having family groups came from wanting to create a small school feel within a large primary school. Each family has a Head of family (a member of the school leadership team). Our families have even written their own family songs which we sing regularly in assembly!

The popular introductory Herbal Correspondence Course is now run from our herb farm on the Isle of Arran and is an excellent intro if you are interested in treating yourself or your family and also for aspiring herbal students who can use it as an access course for University entrance and to see if the profession is for them. If you decide to enrol Keith Robertson MSc. F.NIMH will be your tutor for your assignments and he has over 30 years experience in the field. We also provide regular practical Herbal Medicine classes on Arran offering herb walks, plant ID, medicine making, botanical drawing etc and these form part of our new apprenticeship programme or they can be booked separately. This site remains an archive for the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine which was founded in 1992 by Medical Herbalists Maureen and Keith Robertson F.NIMH. It rose to almost mythical status as the world’s leading School for teaching a holistic balance of traditional and modern Herbal Medicine and importantly championing an energetic approach to treatment. The School had a world first with its M.Sc. programme and many of today's practitioners benefited from its 4 year B.Sc. programme. Being externally validated rather than being part of the mainstream University system gave us the autonomy to develop courses with real heart (we developed ground breaking research methodologies such as Goethean/Contemplative Science and promoted, for instance, case series research) but in the end, as a small educational charity, we were competing at the height with 7 other Universities!! The market was essentially flooded by 3 year courses and when the recession bit student numbers dropped and we were the 3rd U.K. degree programme to have to close its doors. Intake for the Massage and Aromatherapy courses also ceased. Perhaps however, the School had achieved its main objective – to equip the world with a sizeable number of top graduates who carry traditional and modern Herbal wisdom within a working energetic framework.
