The initiative inspires the leadership and staff of organisations of all sectors
and sizes to promote awareness, develop understanding, and implement solutions
for better accessibility in their customer environments. Participating
organisations make public commitments (a minimum of one new activity or
initiative) each year that improves their accessibility and practice so that
disabled customers have a better, more inclusive experience. The Purple Tuesday
movement is highlighted each year by a celebratory day, the first Tuesday of
November, also known as Purple Tuesday. In 2021, the celebration in the United
Kingdom reached over 19 million; involved over 7,000 social media conversations;
