<p>Your course leader is a skilled and accomplished professional with over 25 years of extensive C-level experience in the energy markets worldwide. He has strong expertise in all the aspects of (energy) commodity markets, international sales, marketing of services, derivatives trading, staff training and risk management within dynamic and high-pressure environments.</p>
<p>He received a Master's degree in Law from the University of Utrecht in 1987. He started his career at the NLKKAS, the Clearing House of the Commodity Futures Exchange in Amsterdam. After working for the NLKKAS for five years, he was appointed as Member of the Management Board of the Agricultural Futures Exchange (ATA) in Amsterdam at the age of 31. While working for the Clearing House and exchange, he became an expert in all the aspects of trading and risk management of commodities.</p>
<p>In 1997, he founded his own specialist-consulting firm that provides strategic advice about (energy) commodity markets, trading and risk management.</p>
<p>He has advised government agencies such as the European Commission, investment banks, major utilities, and commodity trading companies and various energy exchanges and market places in Europe, CEE countries, North America and Asia. Some of the issues he has advised on are the development and implementation of a Risk Management Framework, investment strategies, trading and hedging strategies, initiation of Power Exchanges (APX) and other trading platforms, the set-up of (OTC) Clearing facilities, and feasibility and market studies like for the Oil, LNG and the Carbon Market. The latest additions are (Corporate) PPAs and Artificial Intelligence for energy firms.</p>
<p>He has given numerous seminars, workshops and (in-house) training sessions about both the physical and financial trading and risk management of commodity and carbon products. The courses have been given to companies all over the world, in countries like Japan, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Malaysia, China, India, Belgium and the Netherlands. He has published several articles in specialist magazines such as Commodities Now and Energy Risk and he is the co-author of a book called A Guide to Emissions Trading: Risk Management and Business Implications published by Risk Books in 2004.</p>

<p>The energy industry is in search of effective climate tools as pressure mounts from investors and consumers for more progress on fighting rising emissions. Corporations fighting to cut their carbon footprint have for years focused on internal reduction measures. Many are now adding to that effort by turning to carbon credits, a process made easier as verification and registration tools mature.</p>
<p>One particular category of carbon offsets leads the way: high-quality, nature-based carbon credits. These represent the largest category of carbon credit projects in the voluntary carbon market, comprising nearly half of credits issued. Public concern about this practice focused on the additionality, leakage, and integrity of carbon offsets that are created through reforestation, land preservation, carbon capture and other projects.</p>

<p>Your expert course leader is a skilled and accomplished professional with over 25 years of extensive C-level experience in the energy markets worldwide. He has a strong expertise in all the aspects of (energy) commodity markets, international sales, marketing of services, derivatives trading, staff training and risk management within dynamic and high-pressure environments.</p>
<p>He received a Master's degree in Law from the University of Utrecht in 1987. He started his career at the NLKKAS, the Clearing House of the Commodity Futures Exchange in Amsterdam. After working for the NLKKAS for five years, he was appointed as Member of the Management Board of the Agricultural Futures Exchange (ATA) in Amsterdam at the age of 31. While working for the Clearing House and exchange, he became an expert in all the aspects of trading and risk management of commodities. In 1997, he founded his own specialist-consulting firm that provides strategic advice about (energy) commodity markets, trading and risk management.</p>
<p>He has advised government agencies such as the European Commission, investment banks, major utilities and commodity trading companies and various energy exchanges and market places in Europe, CEE countries, North America and Asia. Some of the issues he has advised on are the development and implementation of a Risk Management Framework, investment strategies, trading and hedging strategies, initiation of Power Exchanges (APX) and other trading platforms, the set-up of (OTC) Clearing facilities, and feasibility and market studies like for the Oil, LNG and the Carbon Market. The latest additions are (Corporate) PPAs and Artificial Intelligence for energy firms.</p>
<p>He has given numerous seminars, workshops and (in-house) training sessions about both the physical and financial trading and risk management of commodity and carbon products. The courses have been given to companies all over the world, in countries like Japan, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Malaysia, China, India, Belgium and the Netherlands.</p>

<p>Well engineers who are responsible for technically evaluating and authorizing programs for drilling or working over wells must have the required skills and competencies to safely design wells of varying nature. They also need to be able to confirm that well delivery and intervention programs generate intrinsic well control assurance. Such work programs must establish, verify, monitor and maintain suitable and sufficient barriers for the entire well lifecycle - from spud to abandonment. Well engineers must also be able to select a suitable drilling or workover rig, capable of safely performing the work within its operational envelope.</p>
<p>This 3 full-day course aims to further develop and assess the knowledge required to work on and eventually, authorize a well delivery program as deemed fit for purpose. It also addresses elements of well control that must be embedded into well design, well work programming and equipment selection.</p>

After being employed in 1974 by Shell, one of the major oil &amp; gas producing operators, he worked as an apprentice on drilling rigs in the Netherlands. After a year, he was sent for his first international assignment to the Sultanate of Oman where he climbed up the career ladder from Assistant Driller, to Driller, to wellsite Petroleum Engineer and eventually on-site Drilling Supervisor, actively engaged in the drilling of development and exploration wells in almost every corner of this vast desert area. At that time, drilling techniques were fairly basic and safety was just a buzz word, but such a situation propels learning and the fruits of 'doing-the-basics' are still reaped today when standing in front of a class. After some seven years in the Middle East, a series of other international assignments followed in places like the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Turkey, Denmark, China, Malaysia, and Russia. Apart from on-site drilling supervisory jobs on various types of drilling rigs (such as helicopter rigs) and working environments (such as jungle and artic), he was also assigned to research, to projects and to the company's learning centre. In research, he was responsible for promoting directional drilling and surveying and advised on the first horizontal wells being drilled, in projects, he was responsible for a high pressure drilling campaign in Nigeria while in the learning centre, he looked after the development of new engineers joining the company after graduating from university. He was also involved in international well control certification and served as chairman for a period of three years. In the last years of his active career, he worked again in China as a staff development manager, a position he nurtured because he was able to pass on his knowledge to a vast number of new employees once again. After retiring in 2015, he has delivered well engineering related courses in Australia, Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, China, South Korea, Thailand, India, Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, The Netherlands, and the United States. The training he provides includes well control to obtain certification in drilling and well intervention, extended reach drilling, high pressure-high temperature drilling, stuck pipe prevention and a number of other ad-hoc courses. He thoroughly enjoys training and is keen to continue taking classes as an instructor for some time to come.</p>

In the last years of his active career, he worked again in China as a staff development manager, a position he nurtured because he was able to pass on his knowledge to a vast number of new employees once again. <p>The drill string is the simplest piece of equipment in use on a drilling rig and at the same time, the most critical piece. We use the qualifier 'basic' because although 99% of the drill string comprises plain tubes that are just screwed together, the lowest section, just above the bit, can go to extreme loading and is fitted with highly sophisticated electronics packages providing both positional and lithological data as well as a steering system to drive and orient the bit.</p>
<p>The principle tasks of the drill string are also deceptively simple. These are to:</p>
<ol>
<li>Convey each drill bit to the bottom of the hole and then to retrieve it when worn,</li>
<li>Act as a conduit to convey drilling fluid at high pressure down to the bit and</li>
<li>Transmit torque from surface to bit, occasionally in concert with a hydraulic motor to drive this bit.</li>
</ol>
<p>This 3 full-day course will cover in detail what it takes to decide on minimum drill string specifications, which are able to support the loads to which it will be subjected. In addition to the need to use a drill string with minimum strength requirements, we also need to ensure that we can prevent drill string failure. If the failure consists of a small split or leak of any kind, then the time involved may be little more than that required for a roundtrip to change the bit. If the string parts, then the recovery is likely to take a considerable amount of time. In a worst case scenario, the fish in the hole may prove impossible to retrieve, requiring a sidetrack.</p>
<p>A less than optimal design of the string will reduce the efficiency of the operation and almost always leads to premature bit wear. This is particularly true when we are unable to measure and control the dynamics of the drill string as a whole and the bottomhole assembly in particular. Axial vibrations, torsional vibrations and lateral vibrations may take place in various degrees of severity. The behaviour of the drill string while operating under torsional vibrations is thought to be of great importance and may result in torsional buckling.</p>
<p>This course will also cover the drilling optimization limiters, how to identify them and how to remove them. This is done by understanding the drill string dynamics - by operating under the most favourable conditions and by measuring the dynamics in the vicinity of the bit (or at the bit) in order to make timely adjustments.</p>

To be considered a HPHT well, the downhole conditions will have pressures in excess of 10,000 psi (69 MPa) and 300&Acirc;&deg; F (150&Acirc;&deg; C). To drill these usually expensive wells successfully, the planning and execution phase has to be of an exceptionally high standard. Therefore, both operator and drilling/service contractor staff must be seamlessly aligned and work as a coherent team to reach and then harness the well objectives. This is particularly important when speciality services such as Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) are being applied with crews and/or supervisors who are not intricately familiar with complicated well control incidents. As we seek to prevent costly non-productive time, attention will also be paid to enabling technologies like expandable solid tubulars, mud coolers and specialty mud.</p>

He teaches philosophical foundations of practices of care, ethics, loss and mourning, psychology and spirituality, psychopathology, among other courses, all from a human science perspective, and with a particular focus on therapoetic care. He is a licensed psychologist, supervisor, consultant, and former chaplain, with over thirty-five years of experience. He holds degrees in continental and comparative philosophy of religion and existential-hermeneutical-phenomenological human science clinical psychology and integrates these approaches as a way of caring for such experiences as the impossible (no way out, boundary or limited situations), extreme experiences (such as psychosis, nihilism, suicidal and homicidal ideation), and the taboo (the places no one wants to go: the unwanted and unacceptable, unsayable, unforgiveable, forbidden, and irreverent). He regularly presents workshops in several international venues such as the Circulo de Estudios en Psicoterapia Existential, in Mexico City, Mexico, the Zhi Mian International Institute of Existential-Humanistic Psychology in Dali, China, and the Centre for Existential Practice in Melbourne, Australia. He is widely published and has written on caring for others in very difficult situations including traumatic loss, surviving the COVID-19 pandemic, and meaninglessness. <p>The course focuses on seismic stratigraphic analysis in different basin settings - i.e., <strong>passive</strong>, <strong>convergent</strong>, <strong>extension</strong> and <strong>oblique</strong> - in order to construct a coherent geological story line, underpinning hydrocarbon play and prospect evaluation.</p>
<p>The course is largely based on seismic stratigraphic case histories and exercises, with the support of seismic, well log and outcrop examples.</p>

<li>Identify potential loads the piping systems and categorise the loads to primary and secondary.</li>
<li>Determine stresses that develop in a pipe due to various types of loads and how to derive stress-load relationships, starting from scratch.</li>
<li>Treat the primary and secondary stresses in piping system in line with the intent of ASME Standards B 31.1 and B 31.3 and understand how the two codes deal with flexibility of piping systems, concepts of self-springing and relaxation/shake down, displacement stress range and fatigue, what is meant by code compliance.</li>
<li>Understand the principles of flexibility analysis, piping elements and their individual effects, flexibility factor, flexibility characteristic, bending of a curved beam and importance of virtual length of an elbow in the flexibility of a piping system. Learn stress intensification factors of bends, branch connections and flanges.</li>
<li>Understand how the stresses in the material should be controlled for the safety of the piping system, the user and the environment.</li>
<li>Examine how codes give guidance to determine allowable stresses, stress range reduction due to cyclic loading, and effects sustained loads have on fatigue life of piping.</li>
<li>Confidently handle terminal forces and moments on equipment. Understand the supplementary engineering standards required to establish acceptance of the equipment terminal loads and what can be done when there are no engineering standard governing equipment terminal loads is available and learn the techniques of local stress analysis.</li>
<li>Get a thorough understanding of the concepts and the rules established by the ASME B 31.1 and ASME B 31.3 Standards.</li>
<li>Perform flange load analysis calculations based on Kellogg's Equivalent Pressure method &amp; Nuclear Code method. Perform the same using a piping stress analysis software and check for flange stresses and leakage.</li>
<li>Confidently undertake formal training of piping stress analysis using any commercial software, with a clear understanding of what happens within the software rather than a 'blind' software training and start the journey of becoming a specialist piping stress engineer.</li>
