Bristol Tree Craft C.I.C brings people living in Bristol together to learn the traditional heritage craft of green woodworking. Greenwood working uses unseasoned "green" wood, that has been freshly felled, this is then shaped with hand tools into finished items. Woodwork brings a broad array of benefits: a chance to escape busy city life, connect with natural materials and enjoy the simple wellbeing that comes from making something with our hands. Our sessions offer a platform for people to get to know each other, deepen relationships and share the highs and lows of learning a new creative process together. Sharing craft is a way of creating unity, fostering community resilience, and most importantly of all, having fun!

my creations begin with the seed of an idea. I draw and then move onto selecting the fabrics and threads, scrutinising layout and colour, rejecting and changing, developing and refining, until I meet with completion and contentment. I’m Catherine, a Welsh textile artist, living and working from my studio in North Wales, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The creative process is very fluid, and that is what makes it exciting. I enjoy allowing the working process of developing a piece, to also inform the outcome, rejecting notions of beginning with a perfect idea of an end result in mind. It then allows me greater flexibility to change and refine and be in the moment. I also create smaller applique pieces are often more predictable, and I regularly portray bucolic landscapes, coastal and nautical, flora and fauna.

It all began when I was helping my sister-in-law, Alice with the flowers for her wedding in Inverness. I was totally inspired by the creative process, the endless possibilities of colour combination, movement, design and texture and the power flowers have to express so many things. Following a whirl of training, courses and working with some amazing florists I am thrilled to have launched Cecilia's Flowers. I love meeting clients, listening to what they want and designing beautiful, bespoke flowers for their special occasion. It is always a privilege to come alongside an individual, a couple or a family at a significant time in their lives and to create flowers that reflect their wishes and the character of their event. Whenever possible, I like to use seasonal, British grown flowers and I have a wonderful network of flowers farmers to source the most amazing flowers from. I use sustainable principles and practises wherever I can and I never use floral foam. Coombe is a small-scale rural centre, dedicated to growing creativity. It’s a place where you can develop new skills, supported by a beautiful environment, great food & people who actively enable the creative process. It’s also a place to make and show work, connect with nature and get inspired. We opened in 1983, it was one of the first small artist-led centres offering week-long creative courses. Since then, over the past 35 years, we are lucky to have developed an amazing network of people from all over the world. Our core activity is a mix of tutored art retreats that run year-round, bespoke projects for the creative community and showcasing new work on and off site. We celebrate difference, enjoy the messy ways of the creative process, celebrating the tricky bits, sharing in the successes and frustrations, encouraging others to explore and share the process of making. We are interested in cultivating wisdom, courage and wonder, and we believe in action. We collaborate and look for synergies with others, to ensure that we, as well as the people we work with, aren’t burnt out, bored, disillusioned or skint, but rather nourished, inspired, committed, passionate, and working within resource limits. Our small-scale allows us to be attentive to the simple things we believe make a great place to create, learn and research – skills-based tuition from passionate professions, a relaxed atmosphere, a beautiful environment, delicious food and great company.
