Londonderry

Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company is based in Derry in Northern Ireland where it has its home studios in Waterloo House on the historic City Walls. Echo Echo was founded by Ursula Laeubli and Steve Batts in Amsterdam in 1991. The company worked extensively throughout Europe before moving to Derry in 1997. Echo Echo favours collaborative and co-operative working methods. The company is organised as an ensemble with a group of artists who are committed to long term collaboration and mutual support. Echo Echo creates touring, site and event specific productions, a festival of dance and movement, a programme of artistic residencies, performances by visiting artists and companies, and a wide variety of participatory projects with a broad range of groups and individuals. The style of our work varies greatly. Rather than being defined by a particular aesthetic or idiom, we approach dance broadly as the art of “poetic movement”. We understand that dance has a similar relation to our everyday movement as the poetic use of language does to our normal, everyday speech. Being “poetic” in movement is natural and universal, and accordingly our approach is organically suited to many levels of participation. We do not see a rigid or fundamental distinction between “professional” projects and “participatory” projects. We are committed to high quality artistic practice and to creating numerous ways for people to join in. Echo Echo works with and collaborates with, among others, pre-school children and parents, schools and youth groups, people with learning disabilities, people with physical and sensory disabilities, and older people, as well as with professional dancers, performers and artists from other disciplines. Oxford

Our vision At Oxford City Farm our vision is of empowered communities learning and working together to produce food locally and live healthy, enriched and sustainable lives. Mission We work to promote environmental awareness, community cohesion and wellbeing by offering learning and practical opportunities for people to interact with the land, farming and animals. We have turned a derelict site into a vibrant city farm, bringing farming and food production to the heart of urban communities in Oxford. Values We value diversity, equality, empowerment, community cohesion and sustainability. We value the diversity of our local neighbourhoods and recognise the contribution that all members of the community can offer. We strive to work creatively to ensure equality of opportunity for all. We aim to work in ways that empower people to work together to make positive sustainable change in their communities. Our Story A committed team of trustees, volunteers and staff have been working to bring city farming to Oxford since 2008. We are a diverse group of local people with broad skills and experience in areas such as health, youth work, planning, community development, teaching, training, fundraising, horticulture, ecology and veterinary medicine. In 2017 we secured a 40 year lease for the site and, thanks to support from a wide variety of funders and our wonderful community we now have essential infrastructure including mains water, electricity, toilets, hand washing facilities, an office and since the spring of 2021 our fantistic Community Kitchen. We started running regular community farming days in 2017 to enable our community to get involved with the work of the farm, in particular developing infrastructure and supporting growing. We have also developed partnerships with schools and other organisations to increase participation in our work and to introduce more people to the farm.

I have worked as a Holistic Beauty Therapist for over 25 years offering a sanctuary in my home based treatment room to relax pamper and indulge yourself in a spa style treatment at a fraction of a spa cost. I believe looking after our self is essential to our well being and functionality and shouldn’t just be restricted to a birthday or special occasion treat. In my youth I was a competitive gymnast and carried on training into my late 20s. Fitness and health have always been important to me and my family so understanding the value of good nutrition, regular activity and movement, also relaxation and rehabilitation time have always been paramount. My aim has always been to nurture the whole self as one , Mind, Body and Soul. My discovery of yin yoga and Pilates came from my search for something to control joint and muscle pain and reduced mobility due to fibromyalgia and osteo arthritis and perimenopause. For me it was an overwhelming response. The physical and mental benefits over time gave me such a great feeling of achievement. I had felt old before my time. My pain was constant, fatigue plagued me , my mobility was getting worse every winter and my mental health had written myself off. Knowing the positive impact on my own health encouraged me to train as a yin yoga instructor. It compliments my holistic beliefs and the satisfaction of gaining the ability to still be able even on my sore days to move more freely and control my discomforts. Not to forget the more positive mindset and confidence it has given me . That’s why I’m passionate about introducing you to Yin and Well-Being yoga and sharing the positive benefits far and wide.
