Led by a team of Senior Teachers, HLTAs and Therapists, all with vast experience of leading Secondary Schools, Youth Provision and Alternative Provison in the most challenging areas of Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, More Than Ed was established in response to the increasing number of child mental health issues we were witnessing in our own settings, and the growing frustration we felt at being unable to access appropriate and immediate therapy and intervention for children in our care.

am a 27-year-old graduate of the MA Fashion Course at Central Saint Martins, specialising in Womenswear and Knitwear. I am a little bit older, with some more industry experience and I am currently running my own brand as well as tutoring for The Fashion School, and leading the Summer Fashion School. As I have studied Foundation, a BA and an MA courses at Ravensbourne and CSM, I have a lot of firsthand knowledge of the teaching styles and standard of work required at each level of education. I have a very fun youthful energy, and my work reflects themes of my own teen-hood and girlhood, with a strong influence on youth subculture. I love discussing my work and bouncing ideas of the teenagers to help them with their own projects, sharing music and laughing about current social media trends.

We work in an area of Peterborough with high deprivation supporting residents with Health & Wellbeing, Employability and Youth programmes, tackling Social Isolation and Exclusion and Social and Environmental issues through our Community Café & Garden. We are a friendly and committed team of community workers and volunteers and we are here to support the people of the WestRaven community, and the wider Peterborough area. We work in collaboration with our friends and partners. We have a range of indoor and outdoor venues where we deliver all sorts of activities, events and workshops and create opportunities for people to volunteer. Together we are working towards building a sustainable legacy of better health and wellbeing for our communities. We are an independent charity (CIO) and have a board of Trustees from the community, with one full time Garden Manager and one full time Café Manager. We were setup with BigLocal money from the National Lottery and have an LTO (Local Trusted Organisation) called Cross Keys Homes who offer support, mostly in the form of managing HR contracts, payroll and supplying IT and email systems.

Affiliated to the Brtish Fencing Association, the UK Governing Body, Club membership 31350 The club is friendly and supportive of its membership. We have qualified coaches available to enable the student to attain their potential, whether it be fencing for fitness and fun, or proficiency awards and sporting excellence. There is an active Youth League in Yorkshire for the Under10’s to the Under 14’s, which gives the children an opportunity to compete with fencers from different clubs. There is a range of competitions throughout the year for all fencers, This is a sport for all the family, everyone is welcome. We also provide weapons and protective clothing. Beginners classes start on the First Thursday of each Month. The Club accepts fencers with a minimum age of seven.

Abi’s background is in youth work and she has collaborated with a number of organisations to develop participatory approaches to working with vulnerable adolescents. She has worked with The International Centre: Researching Child Sexual Exploitation, Violence and Trafficking at the University of Bedfordshire, supporting specialist social care teams in Wigan and Rochdale to implement strengths and participatory approaches to Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). Abi co-wrote training for these teams with Dr Camille Warrington on behalf of Research in Practice. At the University of Bedfordshire, Abi also worked on the LEAP project (2015-17) with Dr Kate D'Arcy. Abi wrote training tools for young people and professionals across Europe, in order to respond to young people's experiences of sexual violence and to support efforts to prevent sexual violence. The three-day youth facilitator training programme is called “Life-skills, leadership and limitless potential" (LLLP). All these programmes provide knowledge and tools to apply participatory approaches to practice with young people.
